Importing a Solid Edge file as an AnyCAD reference model maintains a link to the selected file which enables you to monitor and update as the model changes. Inventor continues to expand AnyCAD functionality by adding support for Fusion 360 design files. Bring Fusion 360 models directly into Inventor for system integration, large assembly design, and documentation. When the Fusion 360 design is updated, the changes can be consumed in Inventor. Similarly, you can reference Inventor parts into Fusion 360 for cloud-enabled simulation, CAM, and more. Because Fusion 360 now uses the same AnyCAD technology, changes in the Inventor model can be automatically consumed in Fusion 360. Inventor 2018 included some significant performance improvements for working with large assemblies, and you’ll get a bit more with this latest Update. In Inventor 2018.1, drawing updates are faster because only the portions of the view that have changed are re-drawn. This reduces the work your machine has to do to complete the drawing update and can speed up design change workflows. The speed increase depends on the nature of the changes being made – an isolated change will update a lot faster and a change that affects the entire model will show less of a speed up. Below is a plot showing a few typical design change tests on some large assembly models to give you an idea of the effect.

Rules defined under External Rule Directories in the iLogic Configuration dialog box display under External Rules in the new Event Trigger dialog box. Quickly assign external event triggers to multiple file types. Select a tab, and then drag and drop a rule under External Rules to an event. Use the Parts, Assemblies, Drawings tabs to manage document type specific rules. Use the new file, RulesOnEvents.xml, to manage external rules. RulesOnEvents.xml stores the external triggers for All documents, Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings.�Note: The triggers for the current document (This Document tab) continue to be stored in the current document. RulesOnEvents.xml is located in the first External Rules Directory as specified in the iLogic Configuration dialog box. You can share the file on a network drive.

Customize your Key Parameters Having the flexibility to customize key parameters enables you to better organize the parameters of your asset instances in a layout. Inventor Parameters control the parameter names in the Parameter column of the Key Parameters dialog. Now, you can create a Factory Name to associate with your Inventor parameters in the Key Parameters dialog that display in the Factory Properties. In this release of the Factory Design Utilities, you can further customize your Key Parameters by: Assigning a customized factory name to your key parameters. Creating your own factory tooltips that display in the Factory Properties dialog. Creating customized groups to better organize your parameters. properties (If…Then…Else), making it possible to fill properties with the result of an “If…Then…Else”-operation.

• The property editor can now use a combination of regular expressions (RegEx) to validate input before it is committed to a property (e.g. Customer Number must be 8 characters long, all uppercase).
