He thought he had failed until he used the glue on little pieces of paper. That’s right—he invented sticky notes. Another unplanned invention happened when a doctor tried to discover what caused diseases. He noticed mold growing on some special dishes in his lab. He began to wash the mold away, but then he stopped to take a closer look. He found a chemical that he used to make a medicine called penicillin. This doctor started out trying to find what caused diseases and ended up finding how to heal diseases. This was a happy accident.
