Quality DeclarationCongratulations with your new hoist Invacare® RobinTM from Invacare® EC-Høng A/S.
Your new hoist is -marked in accordance with directive 93/42/EEC concerning medical devices.
Invacare® RobinTM is developed and constructed with consideration for the user and others handling or assisting with lifting. Furthermore, the hoist is developed in accordance with the European Standard EN 10535.
Invacare® RobinTM is supervised and quality controlled throughout the entire production process, and the finished hoist is inspected by our finished goods control. Identification label and QA-mark are located on the hoist confirming that the finished goods control has approved the hoist.
Please read the entire user’s manual before using the hoist.

1.2Purposeandapplication
PurposeRobinTMisaceilingmountedhoist,meetingtherequirementsforhospitals,housingfortheelderly,institutionsandprivatehomes.RobinTMisintendedformovingclientsweighingamaximumof200kgincludingclothing,hoistslingandotheraccessories.Thehoistisdesignedforindooruseinnormaltemperaturesandhumidity.Ifyouwishtousethehoistinanyotherenvironment,contactInvacare®foradviceandinstructions.Useofthehoistforpurposesotherthantransferofpeopleisnotadvisedandisundertakenatonesownrisk.
ConditionsItisaconditionofsalethatthepurchaseroftheceilinghoistmustreceivetrainingfromInvacare®personneloranauthoriseddealer.WhentheRobinTMceilinghoistisusedinaninstitutionorinanursinghome,itshouldalwaysbeoperatedbyspeciallytrainedstaff,andusedinrecommendedtrack.systems.ThetracksystemmustbeinstalledbyInvacare®personneloranauthoriseddealer.
Seated to seated transferDuringaseatedtransfere.g.fromawheelchair,theRobinTMshouldbepositionedclosetothepersontobelifted.Thesuspensionhooksshouldideallybepositionedlevelwiththechestandideallynofurtherthanoverthemiddleofthethigh.Placethesuspensionhooksparallelwiththeuser’sshoulders.See picture.Theslingmaynowbeattachedtothesuspensionhooks.Forplacementofthesling,see section»Placementofthesling«.
Lying to lying transferPositionthesuspensionhooksabovethepersontobelifted,alignedtotheusersshoulders(see picture).Ifpossible,raisethebackportionofthebedsothattheusermaybeliftedinaseatedposition.Theslingmaynowbeattachedtothesuspensionhooks.Forplacementofthesling,see section»Placementofthesling«.

Placement of slingTheslingstrapsaretobehookedinpairs(onefromthebackandonefromtheleg)ontheirownsuspensionhook.
(Attachmentoftheslingisdescribedintherespectiveusermanual,thetextandpicturebelowisonlyaprincipleexplanation).
Withthepersontobeliftedinsittingposition,theslingisplacedbehindtheuser’sback,e.g.betweenthebacksupportofthechairandtheuser.Theclientshouldnotsitonthesling.Thelegstrapsareguidedforwardalongtheoutsideofthethighandinunderthethighbetweenthekneeandthehipjoint.Thelegstrapsarecrossedbetweeneachotherinfrontoftheuser.Allfourslingstrapsarenowreadytobemountedintothesuspensionhooks.
Whentheclientislyingdown,he/sheshouldbelogrolledontotheirside.Positiontheslinginsuchawaythattheupperedgeisinlinewiththecrownofthehead.Theuseristhenrepositionedontohis/herbackandlogrolledintheoppositedirection.Theslingisthenrolledtobeflatundertheuserwhenhe/sheisrolledontohis/herback.Thelegstrapsarethenguidedinunderthethighboneandcrossedinbetweeneachother.Allfour(six)slingstrapsarenowreadytobeattached.

1.3Important/warnings
• ReadtheentiremanualbeforeusingRobinTM.• Robin’smax.loadof200kgmustnotbeexceeded.• Ifaccessoriesareratedwithalowerloadthan200kg,thisdeterminesRobin’smaximumload.• RobinTMmustonlybeusedtomoveapatient.• RobinTMmustnotbeusedwherethereisariskofcontactwithwater.• IftheRobinTMisdamaged,itmustbetakenoutofuse.CallyourlocalInvacare®dealerorInvacare’s servicedepartment.• Thecordforemergencystop/emergencyloweringistobeadjustedsoitiswithintheuser’srange.
Risks when using the hoist:
Riskofentrapmentbetweenhookandhookhousing.Riskofentrapmentbetweenhooksandsling,whenlifting.Riskofinjurytoclientandcarercausedbydanglinghooksorhandcontrol.
A caregiver should always operate the hoist.Ifthehoistinspecialcasesistobeusedbyadisabledperson,thentheinstallershallprovideacommunicationdevice,sothatintheeventofanemergencythedisabledpersonisabletocallforhelp.

1.4Sling’s
UseonlyCE-markedsling’switharatedloadequaltoorlowerthanthatoftheRobin’smaxload.
Theslingmustbesuitablefor2or4pointspreaderbars(pleaselookatInvacare’sbrochureconcerningslings),i.e.withsewnliftingloopsthatcanbemountedontoa2or4pointspreaderbars.
1.5Unpackingandpreparation
PerformavisualinspectionofRobinTM.Ifthepackagingisdamageduponarrival,RobinTMpartsmustbethoroughlyexaminedforvisibledamageordefects.Ifthereisanysuspicionofdamage,RobinTMmustnotbeusedbeforequalifiedservicepersonnelorservicetechnicianshaveapprovedthehoist.Itistobeexpected,thatthehoist´sbatteryisdischargedonaccountofself-discharge.Thehoistmustthereforebechargedforupto2hoursbeforefirsttimeusage,refer to section»Charging«.

1.6Installingthechargingstation
Thechargingunitshouldbeattachedtothewall,orthemostpracticalplace,withinreachofasocketoutlet,toparkthehoistwhennotinuse.Itisimportanttomakesurethatthehandcontrolcanbereadilyplacedintothechargerholderwhenbeingcharged.Thereforeplacethechargeratamaximumdistanceof85cmundertherailinwhichthehoistismounted.
Itisimportanttomakesurethatthereisaccesstothemainswherethechargerisplaced.
Tomountthecharger:,firstinsertwallfittingwith2screws,thenconnectthecablefromthechargertotheactualholder,andpresstheholderontothemountedwallsupport.
Thewallsupportforthechargermustbemountedwiththreescrewsundertheholderandatadistancethatsuitsthelengthofthechargercable.
Connectthechargertothesocketoutletandcheckthatitisoperational.
Morethanonechargingunitcanbemountedforonehoist,asthesecanworkindependently.
BeawarethatonlyanIP67chargercanbemountedinawetroom,See section8.2

1.7Hoistsysteminstallation
Priortofittingthehoist,ensurethatthehoisttrolleyismounted.Removetheendstopthatisattachedtotherailtrack.Thetrolleycanthenbeinsertedintotherail.(Itisunimportantwhichwaythetrolleyisfacing).Theendstopmustthenbereinstalled.See picture.
WhenmountingRobinTM,locatethehoisttrolleyattheØ32mmroundrecessintherail.See picture.
Liftthehoistandpushthesuspensionpinthroughthehoisttrolley.Turnthehoist90degreestotherail’slongitudinaldirectionandplaceitasshownbelow.(Note:Supportthehoistwhileturning).See picture.
IfRobiniscorrectlymountedintothetrolley,itisnowpossibletopullthetrolleybackandforthalongtherail.
Ifthereisexcessiveresistance,orifthetrolleyunintentionallyrollsbyitselfduetoimbalanceintherailsuspensions,adjustthefrictionbrakeusinga4mmAllenkey.See picture.
Whenthesystemisinstalled,thehandcontrolmustbeconnected,andthecordfortheemergencystop/loweringmustbeadjustedsoitiswithintheuser’sreach.

RobinisnowreadytobeusedintheEC-TrackTMsystem.

2. Inspection
2.1Approvals
TheRobinTMceilinghoisthasbeentestedandapprovedinaccordancewithLiftstandardEN/ISO10535,andisTÜVapproved.ThehoistisCE-markedinaccordancewiththemedicaldirectiveandstandardEN/ISO10535.
2.2Beforefirst-timeuse
Beforefirstuse,allfeaturesofthehoistsystemmustbeinspectedbyaauthorisedInvacare®installer.
ThehoistisnotintendedtobeusedtogetherwithanyotherMEDICALELECTRICALEQUIPMENT,meaningthatthepatientmustnotbeconnectedtoanyotherMEDICALELECTRICALEQUIPMENTduringtransferwiththeRobinTMhoist.

Hand control and indicator lightRobinTMisactivatedwhenthehandcontrolbuttonsarepressed.TheblueindicatorlightilluminateswhenRobinTMisinuse,andturnsoffautomaticallyafterapprox.30seconds.Thehoistisliftedandloweredbyoperatingthehandcontrol.Thecontrolbuttonsontheundersideofthehoistmayalsobeusedforthispurpose.Thecontrolbuttonsworkindependentlyofthehandcontrol.
Note: Thebuttonsmustbedepressedinthemiddleinordertoensurecorrectfunction,whichisbestobtainedasshowninthepictures.

3.3Safetyguidelines
Emergency stopIfthehoiststraps´movesunintentionallyupwardsordownwards,pullthe»emergency stop«chord.Whentheemergencystopisactivated,thehoistwillnotoperate.Iftheemergencystopbuttonispushedup,thehoistwillbereadyforuseagain.
Emergency loweringTheemergencyloweringfeaturecanbeusedinordertoloweraclienttothetransfersurfaceifthehoisthasbecomeinoperable.Emergencyloweringisoperatedbycontinuouslypullingthecord.
Whentheemergencyloweringfunctionisactivated,allendstopsandsecurityfunctionsaredeactivated.Itistherebypossibletowinduptheliftingstrapsbackup,whenactivatingtheemergencyloweringforprolongedperiods.
Strap securing/pinch protectionIftheliftingstrapsareguidedincorrectlyinandoutofthehoist,i.e.ifthestrapshasbecometwisted,thehoistwillautomaticallyturnoff.Note:Whenattachingtheslingtothehooks,andthestrapsaretwisted,thestrapswillrotateandstretchout,thusensuringtrouble-freeoperation.
Thepinchprotectionfeatureautomaticallyturnsoffthehoist,ifaclientunintentionallytrapshis/herhandintheliftingstrapduringalift.Thehoistwillstopimmediatelywhenthehandmakescontactwiththestrapinlet.
IfRobinTMisloadedwithaweightofmorethan200kg,thehoistwillautomaticallyturnofftosafeguardagainstoverloading.
Electromagneticinterferencebetweenthehoistandotherelectricalproductscanoccur.Toreduceoreliminatesuchelectromagneticinterference,increasethedistancebetweenthehoistandtheproductsorswitchofftheproducts!
Allinstallationsmustcomplywiththenationalrulesandstandards.Useonlyapprovedinstallationcomponents.Ateverypointofsuspension,theroof/ceilingstructuremustbeabletoabsorbaloadofatleast300kg.
3.4Charging
Asoundindicatorandtheflashingindicatorlightsignalswhenthehoistneedstobecharged.Thehoistmustbemovedalongtherailsystemandparkednearbythewallmountedcharger.Attachthehandcontroltothechargerunit.LEDonthechargerindicatesthatchargingistakingplace.Werecommendparkingthehoistinthechargingpositionwhennotinuse.
