PURPOSE
This document will review how to utilize the “Import Sailing Schedules” and “Import Global Flights” when choosing the route for a Consolidation.
LOCATION
Both the “Import Sailing Schedules” and “Import Global Flights” can be accessed from the Routing Tab of a Consolidation record.
INTRODUCTION/DISCLAIMER
IMPORT GLOBAL SAILING SCHEDULES
To access Global Sailing Schedules, go to the Routing Tab of a Consolidation and click the button
SEARCH CRITERIA
Once clicked, the screen below will appear:
If an Origin, Destination, ETD and/or ETA is entered on the Details tab, they will appear within the search criteria, if not a combination of these can be entered to narrow your search criteria.
Once the proper search criteria have been selected, click the “Find” button to view shipments that fit your criteria.
RESULTS GRID
Once “Find” is clicked, matching shipments will appear on the grid:
COLUMN DEFINITIONSOrigin / Origin Port Name – Self Explanatory
Destination / Destination Port Name – Self Explanatory
Departure & Arrival – Self Explanatory
Legs Count – The number of stops/legs on the journey
Transit Time- Number of days the trip will take
Is Gateway/Transshipment – Will be checked if Gateway/Transshipment
CONNECTIONSWhen a Column is highlighted, details of the connections will appear:
EXAMPLES:
EXAMPLE #1In the example below, the freight will move from Jacksonville to Savannah by rail, then by boat from Savannah to Hong Kong via an OOCL boat. The time frame for this shipment is 45 days.
EXAMPLE #2In the example below, the freight will move from Jacksonville to Oakland by truck or rail, then by boat from Oakland to Vietnam (Vang Tau), then to Hong Kong via 2 different CMA boats. The time frame for this shipment is
31 days.
While the Sailing schedule does not show cost, it will show time frame and the location of the legs. In the example above, the operator must decide between:
Example #1 simpler movement (Jacksonville to Savannah is a short, simple train movement) – BUT the ship does not have as easy of a route to Asia and will take longer.
Example # is a more complex movement (train/truck across country, movement via 2 different boats) BUT the freight will arrive 2 weeks sooner.
SELECTING A SCHEDULE
To select a schedule, highlight your selection, then click Import to the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
A box similar to the one to the right will appear – click “OK”
VIEWING YOUR SELECTION IN THE CONSOLIDATION
Your information will appear in both:
The Routing Tab:
And the main details Tab
BENEFITS
Utilizing the Import Global Sailing Schedule provides multiple benefits, including, but not limited to the following:
1) Speed – once comfortable using, it can be much faster than typing all leg information manually
2) Accuracy – no more typos while manually entering data3) Container Tracking – utilizing the Sailing Schedule insures you have the same
information (Dates, Voyage, Carrier, etc.) that is used for container tracking
IMPORT GLOBAL FLIGHTS
To access Global Flights, go to the Routing Tab of a Consolidation and click the button
SEARCH CRITERIA
Once clicked, the screen below will appear:
If an Origin, Destination, or Departure Date is entered on the Details tab, they will appear within the search criteria, if not a combination of these can be entered to narrow your search criteria. Departure Date is a Required field.By default, The equipment type is Single Line only and the Equipmnet
type is Widebody and Freighter Types only
Once the proper search criteria have been selected, click the “Find” button to view flights that fit your criteria.
RESULTS GRID
Once “Find” is clicked, matching flights will appear on the grid:
COLUMN DEFINITIONSOrigin / Origin Port Name – Self Explanatory
Destination / Destination Port Name – Self Explanatory
Cnct. (Connections) - # of connections
Via – IATA codes for connections
Departure/Arrival – Self Explanatory
Duration- Number of hours the trip will take
Carriers 1-4 – Airline Code for the Carrier
CONNECTIONSWhen a Column is highlighted, details of the connections will appear:
EXAMPLES:
EXAMPLE #1In the example below, the freight will move with United Airlines: from Jacksonville to Houston on a Carrier Flight then to Chicago O’Hare, then to London Heathrow in just over 56 hours.
EXAMPLE #2In the example below, the freight will move with Delta Airlines from Jacksonville from Jacksonville to Atlanta on a Carrier Flight then to London Heathrow in just over 59 hours.
While the Flight schedule does not show cost, it will show time frame and the location of the legs. In the example above, the operator must decide between:
Example #1 a more complex, 3 flight movement– BUT it is 3 hours faster.
Example #2 is an easier 2 flight movement BUT the freight will arrive 3 hours later.
SELECTING A SCHEDULE
To select a schedule, highlight your selection, then click Import to the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
A box similar to the one to the below will appear – click “Save” , then “Close”
