INDEX
Timed in class design challenges (30-70 minutes) intended to stimulate students cre-ative problem solving. Students are required to create a timebox, moodboard, conduct
research, draw thumbnails, rough drafts and a final drawing in the time allocated.
Students complete at least 5 sketches every week in felt tip pen of either their surround-ings or a still life. Every week explores a different topic: perspective, line, contrast, tex-
ture, transparency, repetition, movement, scale, etc.
A group project. Students pitch and design a non-digital game (board game, tabletop game, card game, dice game, miniature game, tile game, etc). No computers or soft-ware may be used in its creation. Everything must be created by hand including but not limited to: all packaging, instructions, cards, dice, boards, tokens, playing pieces,
etc. Students are allowed to use the laser cutter.

Must comprise of at least six pages: five illustrated, one containing an artist’s statement. Minimum size 5”x7,” no larger than 8”x10.” Bear in mind the principles and elements of design and Gestalt.
How can they be used effectively to express an idea or meaning?
