IntroductiontoShiatsuWeekendWithKirstyHurd–ThomasSaturdayMarch10thandSundayMarch11th201810amtill5:30pm

What is Shiatsu? Shiatsu evolved in Japan as a way of promoting health within family members. Later it developed its therapeutic side, helping with many common health problems. Since being introduced to the west in the 1970’s it has spread rapidly as both a home remedy and as a professional therapy. Shiatsu is usually given to the receiver (who wears light clothing) lying on a futon or comfortable mat on the floor. The Shiatsu giver uses their body weight rather than strength to give palm and finger pressure along the meridians carrying life energy or Ki around the body. Shiatsu also uses a variety of simple stretches, rocking and rubbing to stimulate the smooth flow of Ki around the body. On this weekend you will learn:

• How to give a simple full body Shiatsu treatment suitable for family and friends.

• How to feel Ki or life force energy around the body.

• How to release tension from the body, and help people deeply relax.

• How to nourish and bring more energy and strength into weak or cold

parts of the body. Learning Shiatsu has many benefits, including:

• Shiatsu is very safe and can be used almost anywhere.

• It is wonderful to develop a healing touch with your hands, which you can use with anyone.

• Learning Shiatsu will help you feel the life force energy or Ki that

permeates and enlivens all life.

• It is great to be able to give healing bodywork to your children, partner, parents, family and friends.

• Shiatsu also brings benefits to the giver, many people often feel more

energised as it gets ones own energy moving. It can be a peaceful almost meditative practice.
