Pedagogically proven methods are used to validate the knowledge acquired by trainees at each stage. 200,000 customers rely on APAVE to help them reduce their risks. This is a mission of trust that the 8,000 experts in risk management (including 6,000 engineers and technicians) are proud to fulfil every day, working from over 130 branch offices, 33 laboratories and test centres, and 131 training facilities. Company Qualifications: APAVE are ISO9001v2008 compliant and certified for Training Services APAVE is a Sustaining Company Member of the American Welding Institute APAVE is a Development Member of the Lifting Equipment & Engineering Association (LEEA) Certificate No: 000618 APAVE are also nationally and internationally recognized, including: EEC Notifications Accreditation by COFRAQ (French Standard Authority) AFAQ, CERFI Certification Ministerial Approval Qualification by French Insurance Companies (APSAD) Certification by Principals (CEA, SGN, FRAMATOME) Partnership Agreements (French State Education etc) If you require more in depth material about APAVE go to www.apave.com Training Proposal: In Ghana APAVE started training courses in January 2010, we found a niche in the market, in that no other 3rd Party Company was providing training services, but this also has its drawbacks. Due to the differing degrees of education, all courses provided will be “BASIC INTRODUCTORY” courses, as a training body, we have to ensure that all trainee’s have the proper “basic knowledge” both practically and theoretically before continuing with more advanced courses. All certification provided will be by A4 sized laminated certificates, headed Safety Training Certificate this will qualify the trainees in the “BASIC OPERATION OF” (whatever course they are attending). All training involves a practical and theoretical side, and in some instances a certificate could be supplied with a written notice stating “under supervision only” this will allow the trainee to use the equipment that he / she has completed the course with, BUT, under a supervisory capacity only, until deemed competent enough to operate said equipment safely on their own. Their competency would be tested (between a one month and six months period after the initial course) in a separate, one day evaluation test comprising of theoretical and practical examination (proving that continual in-house learning / training is being completed).

In-house Training: All companies that request courses are reminded that APAVE can only instil a “BASIC INTRODUCTION TO” course, and it is up to each and every individual company to continue the trainees learning, with ongoing in-house training, APAVE can also supply this training if a client has no time or structure to do this. Trainer Certification: All trainers within APAVE are professionally trained, and undergo constant evaluation by APAVE; they are LEEA Qualified (Lifting Equipment & Engineering Association) and C.I.A. Approved Trainers (Crane Institute of America Inc). All training videos are professionally approved training videos, supplied by accredited training companies. Certification for all trainers, are readily available for perusal by clients (just contact the APAVE Base Manager, Ghana): +233 541 769 491.

COURSES OFFERED IN GHANA FULL TIME: Mobile Crane Operator Course: This course is a ten day course (if the trainee has no previous experience) if the trainee has been operating mobile cranes, then this is a five day intensive course, implementing theoretical and practical training. This training is completed using the clients own crane (for the practical training) for the theoretical training, this is completed using power points, trainee manuals and video. These videos incorporate pre-use inspections (telescopic boom and lattice boom) setting up for safety, load charts, hand signals and working near power lines, these are all mandatory sections incorporated within the course. Forklift Operator Course: This course is a five day course (if the trainee has no previous experience) if the trainee has been operating forklifts, then this is a three day intensive course, implementing theoretical and practical training. This training is completed using the clients own forklift (for the practical training) for the theoretical training, this is completed using power points, trainee manuals and video. This video incorporates general hazards of the work place, general hazards of the equipment, longitudinal and lateral stability, basic engineering principals and site specific training (to be advised by the client). Banksman / Slinger Course: This is a three day course (if the trainee has no previous experience) if the trainee has previous banksman / slinger experience this would be a one or two day course, depending on trainee competence. This course would incorporate the hand signal video from the crane course and material from the basic rigging and lifting course. Rigging & Lifting Course: This course is carried out over several months, and it comprises of two separate three day courses and a final five day course, successful trainees will receive a basic rigger card if successful. Level 1: Comprises of power points, and practical skills, this involves an introduction to the basic rigging equipment used in daily operations, i.e. chain blocks, pullifts, wire rope slings, web slings, round slings, shackles and beam clamps. As this first part is only an introduction to (because some trainees, may have never seen the above equipment before) they are shown how this equipment is used, pre-use inspected and post use storage. Level 2: Comprises of the safe use of the above mentioned equipment, with the last day incorporating an introduction to angled lifts. Level 3: Comprises of an initial day of revising the first two levels, then more in-depth training on angled lifts, with the trainees having to successfully transfer a know weight through a rigging frame.

In the future, we are planning on introducing other courses, as client need arises, so far, we have had interest in overhead crane operations, defensive driving courses, working at height courses, and manual handling courses, we will also sit down with a client if a specific course is required and together we can work out the course content to the satisfaction of both the client and APAVE. Course Literature: Course literature can be provided for all courses, this comes in the form of handbooks, pocket guides and folders; all literature is an instant invaluable source of information for all employees, however there is a surcharge for this literature.
