Introduction to mechatronics
Today we are surrounded by automation systems that are a combination of mechanical engineering, elec-
tronics and software. This seminar provides you an understanding and lays the foundation for mastery of
industrial automation, enabling you to commission, operate, adjust and maintain these machines.
Maintenance, Design/Engineering, Trainer
• Basic physical principles
• Fundamentals of mechanics, pneumatics or hydraulics
• Motion control by electrical engineering
• Motion control by PLC
• Various sensor types and limit switches
• Basics of servo technology
• Factory automation simulation using MPS® stations
• Practical exercises and troubleshooting
The participant:
• can troubleshoot basic mechatronic control systems
• can assemble and test basic mechatronic circuits (pneumatic, electrical and software)
• can install or replace, and commission pneumatic, electropneumatic electrical and
PLC hardware components
• can use diagnostic software to assist troubleshooting
• recognises and can differentiate between the different types of programming used in industry
• can download a program and commission a simple PLC control system
• can identify and describe the operation of pneumatic, electropneumatic, electrical and
PLC components and sensors
• can interpret technical specifications and data relating to pneumatic, electro pneumatic,
sensor, electrical and PLC components and systems
