Introduction to IWB (Interactive Whiteboard) August, 2012
Slide 2
The Facts on Digital Learning Current educational trends
indicate a shift toward instructional technology: Development of
skills for 21 st century learners A move toward more
technology-rich learning environments A focus on interactive
Buzzword: engaged learning Over 2/3 of educators say at least 60%
of classroom instruction will involve interactive and e-learning
methods by 2015. Nearly 1/3 believe it will be as much as 80% or
higher. 1 Futuresource Consulting, 2010

Increasing Demand for IWB Source: PBS and Grunwald Associates,
2010 More than any other technology, teachers value, use, and want
Interactive whiteboards. Interactive whiteboards are considered the
most valuable digital resource, especially among elementary
teachers: To teach more effectively To motivate students and
stimulate creativity To stimulate student discussions *Nationwide
online survey conducted with 1,204 teachers. 68% of teachers report
that they value interactive whiteboards 40% of teachers report they
use interactive whiteboards 17% report they want interactive
whiteboards but do not have access to them
Slide 5
I LOVE this product! It saved my weekend I didnt have to write
lesson plans, find resources, surf the web for hours trying to find
good activities. Teaching in an inclusion classroom the
differentiated instructions were spot on. The kids were so excited
when I started the Weather Unit on the whiteboard, they cheered!
THANK YOU, Carson Dellosa (my family thanks you, too!) for a super
time-saver that really works for me and my students. [Amy W]
Teachers Talk About IWB
Slide 6
I really enjoy my Smart Board, but it can sometimes feel
time-intensive to find lessons that are appropriate. If you can
align your resources with the state standard guidelines, it would
make people like me (and possibly schools and school districts)
more willing to purchase units and use them to their full
potential. Thanks for being on the cutting edge of technology and
to reach out to classroom teachers in getting their input!!! Each
Carson-Dellosa Interactive Whiteboard unit will, at a minimum,
feature: 1.Three, standards-based lessons per unit 2.Teacher
support materials (lesson plans, extension ideas, etc.) 3.Printable
pages 4.Student activities 5.Whole group instruction, small group,
and individual instruction 6.Pre- and Post-Assessment Pages
7.Multiple Language Direction Support 8.Compatibility with all
whiteboard brands (Smart board, Promethean, etc.)
Slide 7
Cost Is the #1 Concern for Teachers It is critical to clearly
communicate the significant added value of Carson- Dellosa IWB
content as teachers frequently find content online for free: As
much as teachers might need and want the software, the funding
allotted for education is minimal. They'd need to be cheap,
otherwise, teachers will just hunt down free resources. Please do
not make them too expensive or teachers will not buy them. KGrade 1
IWB units will align to core curriculum and basic skills:
handwriting, phonics, punctuation, place value, with additional
lessons beyond basics. Grade 35 teachers value units that teach
more abstract and complex skills such as problem solving
strategies, context clues, and writing skills. Our selection will
offer both basics and abstract concepts. Teachers value IWB as they
help make boring topics like factoring, exponents and, fractions
more engaging and interactive. We will reinforce the promise of
interactivity and engagement. Teachers use IWB units for whole
group, small group, individual, independent, and student-directed
lessons. We will emphasize this as a benefit. Core Curriculum Comes

Retail Program Overview How does the Carson-Dellosa Digital
Library work? Teachers download the patent-pending technology using
a link on the retailers website or from a webpage provided on the
brochure distributed at retail. Teachers can download sample
versions of any Carson-Dellosa Digital Library Interactive
Whiteboard Unit in order to test drive it. If they like the sample,
the teacher can link directly from their library to your website to
buy the full version. You take the transaction directly from the
teacher and you are invoiced only for the valid redemption codes
supplied to you by Carson-Dellosa.
Slide 26
Retail Program Overview How can I sell products? As a Preferred
Vendor, you must provide a location for an online Digital Library
store that the teacher can use to purchase content directly from
within the application. While there is some flexibility as to how
you create this store presence, once established, it must enable
the teacher to easily purchase additional Digital Library products
by presenting all products available and only Carson-Dellosa
Digital Library products.
Slide 27
Retail Program Overview How does a customer obtain the
Carson-Dellosa Digital Library? Each Preferred Vendor is provided a
unique download link to the Carson-Dellosa Digital Library
containing their custom branded storefront. As a Preferred Vendor,
you are permitted and encouraged to distribute the download link on
your site and in your marketing efforts in order to gain the widest
distribution possible. Remember, the more you encourage the
download and installation of this free application, the more store
front locations you will have. At a minimum, Preferred Vendors are
required to present this link to their teachers whenever they
download or sample an interactive whiteboard unit from your
website.
Slide 28
Retail Program Overview How are interactive whiteboard units
priced and sold? Interactive whiteboard units are sold on an
individual item basis directly to the end user. While prices may
vary based on the amount of content required to thoroughly teach a
specific topic, the majority of units retail for $9.99.
Slide 29
Retail Program Overview What sort of technical integration is
required? Once youve completed a transaction that includes a
Digital Library product, your website or point-of-sale system will
perform a web service call to the Carson- Dellosa Digital Library
server. The server will return a redemption code, which you can
provide to your teacher via email or a confirmation page. No
shopping cart integration is required. Through your point-of-sale
system, the server will activate the code listed on the card being
purchased. More specific technical documentation will be provided
upon execution of the Digital Library Distribution Agreement.
Slide 30
Retail Program Overview How does Carson-Dellosa protect content
to ensure repeat sales? The Carson-Dellosa Digital Library employs
patent-pending technology, which includes the ability to disable
use of content outside the application. The technology allows users
to install and utilize the content they purchase on up to five
different devices before requiring them to disable and remove
content from a device. Redemption codes for purchased content are
one-time-use only so they cannot be shared with friends or posted
for others to use on the Internet.
Slide 31
Retail Program Overview How can I sign-up to become a Preferred
Distributor of the Learning Spot? To get started, simply answer the
qualifying questions to understand if you can source the product
through Carson Dellosa or through a distributor. If you can source
through Carson Dellosa, sign a copy of the Digital Library
Distribution Agreement and send it to your Carson-Dellosa Account
Representative. If you can not source through Carson Dellosa, you
will be able to source through one of our digital
distributors.
Slide 32

have an opportunity to reinforce your branding by customizing the
look and feel of the Shop Now button within your version of the

Carson-Dellosa, your artwork will be used within the applications
UI in order to direct customers to the Digital Library section of
your web site where they can purchase additional interactive
whiteboard units. Option 1 Provide as a static image. Image Size:

IWB "Qualifying Questions" As part of the sales package we have
supplied a checklist of Qualifying Questions to determine
participation levels for IWB. These questions can be used to
determine (with the retailer's assistance) if an account can work
directly with us or if they will need to go through a distributor.
1.Does the retailer have an existing ecommerce web site? 2.Does the
retailer have the ability to programmatically update their web
site? (Need access to a programmer, not a web designer. ) 3.Does
the retailer have full control over the shopping cart technology
(not handled third party)? 4.Does the retailer have the ability to
call and consume web services? 5.Does the retailer have the ability
to provide an unique identifier associated with an order placed
through their web site? 6.Does the retailer have the ability to
process credit card transactions in real time?
