    2000 to connect teachers

    to information and each

    other, worldwide, so that

    they can best serve as key

    catalysts for change in their

    communities.

    Today, Teachers Without

    Borders is endorsed by

    governments, worldwide, and

    works with a membership in

    184 countries. Teachers

    Without Borders won the

    Hero of African Education award.

    Teachers Without Borders was designed to address

    gaps in teacher professional development through

    programs managed by local leaders. Programs include

    a Certificate of Teaching Mastery and in topics such as

    Emergency Education, Peace and Human Rights, and

    the Millennium Development Goals.

    Prior to founding Teachers Without Borders, Fred

    served as the head of two leading K-12 schools. He has

    published books and articles in the fields of American

    literature, educational reform, adolescence, leadership,emergency education.

    Dr. Mednick is currently preparing a book for

    publication in 2012 on the stories of teacher

    leaders who have overcome obstacles in order toserve their communities.

    The School of Education (SOE) at theJohns

    Hopkins Universityhas quickly taken its place as a

    national leader in education reform through

    research and teaching. Grounded in the Johns
