Job responsibilities of the CNA may include, but are not limited to, bathing, dressing, ambulatory care, running errands, performing light housekeeping, feeding assistance, recording fluid input and output, taking patient vitals, stocking medical supplies and emptying catheter bags. CNAs work directly under the supervision of a licensed nurse. CNAs work in a variety of health care settings such as Skilled Nursing Facilities, Rehabilita- tion Centers, Hospitals, Adult Day Health Centers, Emergency Departments, and other facilities. The CNA job is an entry level position. INTRODUCTION TO CNAs Our program consists of 100 hours of clinical time and 50 hours of classroom (theory) time. Upon satisfac- tory completion of the certified nursing assistant program, the student will be eligible to take a proficiency exam issued by the American Red Cross. Passing the exam will allow the student to become certified in the State of California. Resident Care Skills - bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, hair care, skin care, incontinency, bedpan, urinal, and commode Resident Care Procedures - collection of speci- mens, catheter, oxygen, bed making, enemas and suppositories, admissions, transfers, discharges, topical ointment application, non-sterile dress- ings Observation and Charting – reporting responsi- bility, resident care plans Adult School Allied Health Educators, Inc. is approved by the California Department of Public Health Licensing and Certification program (L&C), Aide and Technical Certifi- cation Section (ATCS) Services, to offer a nursing assistant program. The program is a 6-7 week program designed to prepare qualified individuals to become safe and competent Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) in a variety of health care facilities. We are also approved by the Bureau of Private Post-Secondary Education (BPPE).
