Introduction to Celebrities

Celebrities are stereotyped as a certain way, they are always represented as happy, beautiful, successful and wealthy.

in the past celebrities were barely in the limelight as they are now, they were careful of how they acted and hardly ever had their bad news publicised around the world.

celebrities these days are stereotyped as fit, attractive, partiers, always are in rehab with many issues like alcohol or drug problems, have their own perfume or clothing label or

even their own talk show and rumoured to be with a different guy each week.

Why do you think Celebrities are stereotyped this way? Could it be from the pressure of fame?

Celebrities are always supporting particular brands along with their own, like: Clothing, perfume, Movies, T.V shows etc. causing attention from fan’s of the celebrity promoting them.

They are always most likely to be defined as a singer, actor/actress, Model’s and sometimes all and are mostly to be known for a short amount of time unlike

past celebrities like: Michael Jackson & Elvis.

While past celebrities were known for their positive actions, present celebrities are known for their scandalous events and/or actions, even being called infamous and most likely to capture the attention of fans, viewer etc by either going into rehab, driving while drunk, anorexia, stealing someone's boyfriend, sex tape scandal etc.

Guess ad’s in 1992 VS 2004

1992• Guess has always employed

celebrity’s and high profile individuals to advertise their

company. In the year 1992 Guess, also known as Georges Marciano,

hired Anna Nicole Smith to represent their famous label. The impression the reader might get from studying the

advertisement is that from the way Anna Nicole Smith is

displayed as glamourous and elegant, the viewer feels that by

wearing thisbrand you will attract men

instantly.

2004

• Guess ad’s have changed a lot in 12 years, their advertising shots have lost the glamourous and elegant feel they once had and replaced it with a more trashy and revealing look. After hiring Paris Hilton in 2004, Guess held different values from back in 1992, they changed their name and started using celebrities that were infamous rather than those in the past that held classic beauty. Guess used an infamous celebrity to represent their guess add to cause more viewers/ fans to gain attention.

•Celebrities/ high profile people used in magazine shot’s to advertise the Guess brand.

The photo shoot is more down to earth and the viewer connects

with the elegance of the model.

Paris’ pose sends off a negative vibe and make her and the company/product seem snobby/

Rock star by Nickleback

Lyric analysis

In the year 2000, Nickleback released a song about how

rock star's/celebrities act and their attitude for getting fame, it

is based on the rock stars/celebrity’s in present time and they are talking about the basic stereotypes of celebrity’s

in these past few years.

It is talking about Hollywood and all the people in the acting/singing industry and their needs and wants and how they all start to loose control after the immense power they receive from being a rock star/ celebrity.

It is talking about the people involved in show biz that get

everything handed to them on a silver platter and the things they

do for fame and being a celebrity( anorexia, drinking, changing hair and name etc.) the powerful hold

fame has over them

The band are apart of this atmosphere they are singing about, they sing about how

everything may look glamorous from the exterior but behind closed doors there are a lot of risky things people in the showbiz do for fame

and they think their life will get better with it.

The song is basically mocking the lifestyles of most celebrity’s

because of their need for an immense amount of cars etc, the singers are trying to prove

how superficial and materialistic celebrity’s are and how things aren't as they seem and how they are always being

represented as the coolest thing ever.

Rockstar by Nickelback Lyrics• I'm through with standin' in line

To clubs I'll never get inIt's like the bottom of the ninthAnd I'm never gonna winThis life hasn't turned out Quite the way I want it to be(Tell me what you want)

I want a brand new houseOn an episode of CribsAnd a bathroom I can play baseball inAnd a king size tub big enough For ten plus me(Yeah, so tell what you need)

I'll need a.. a credit card that's got no limitAnd a big black jet with a bedroom in itGonna join the mile high club At thirty-seven thousand feet--(Been there done that)--

I want a new tour bus full of old guitarsMy own star on Hollywood BoulevardSomewhere between Cher and James Dean is fine for me(So how you gonna do it?)

• I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fameI'd even cut my hair and change my name[CHORUS]'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars And live in hilltop houses, driving fifteen carsThe girls come easy and the drugs come cheapWe'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat

• And we'll hang out in the coolest barsIn the VIP with the movie starsEvery good gold digger's

• Gonna wind up thereEvery Playboy bunny With her bleach blonde hairAnd well...Hey, hey, I wanna be a rockstarHey, hey, I wanna be a rockstar

• I wanna be great like Elvis without the tasselsHire eight body guards that love to beat up assholesSign a couple autographs So I can eat my meals for free(I'll have the quesadilla, on the house)I'm gonna dress my assWith the latest fashionGet a front door key to the Playboy mansionGonna date a centerfold that loves to Blow my money for me(So how you gonna do it?)

• I'm gonna trade this life For fortune and fameI'd even cut my hair And change my name'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars andLive in hilltop houses driving fifteen carsThe girls come easy and the drugs come cheap

• We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eatAnd we'll hang out in the coolest barsIn the VIP with the movie starsEvery good gold digger's

Gonna wind up thereEvery Playboy bunny With her bleach blonde hairAnd we'll hide out in the private roomsWith the latest dictionary of Today's who's whoThey'll get you anything with that evil smileEverybody's got a Drug dealer on speed dial, wellHey, hey, I wanna be a rockstarI'm gonna sing those songs That offend the censorsGonna pop my pills From a Pez dispenserGet washed-up singers writing all my songsLip synch 'em every night so I don't get 'em wrongChorus

TROUBLED Britney Spears is set for a court showdown with her parents as she tries to wrestle back control of her life, the News of the World can reveal. The singer, 26, will be the star witness in a battle to overturn a restraining order taken out by her family against her former manager Sam Lutfi. Britney will be asked to give evidence against dad Jamie and mum Lynne, who currently have control of her assets after her recent breakdown. Lutfi, 33, has been banned from going within 250 yards of Britney after her parents accused him of drugging her with prescription pills and cutting her phone lines. But he wants to clear his name and has secretly contacted the star via a third party to ask for her support. Lutfi told a pal: "I am going to call Britney to the stand so she can tell the world how I was helping her. "I am innocent. I am Britney's friend and would never hurt her." Lutfi is said to be preparing a dossier for the hearing at LA Superior Court on March 17 in which he'll claim Britney had access to drugs from other visitors and fears her life is being taken over. The star was discharged from a psychiatric ward last month and is believed to be back at home in LA. She reckons she can now run her own life. A source told us: "Britney feels fit enough to make her own decisions but is overruled by her father. She is fighting to get control." Last night Lutfi's spokesman Michael Sands said: "Sam is a good guy who does not agree with this restraining order. " He will fight it all the way."

Summary of newspaper article.

• The newspaper article from the pervious slide was one from the very dramatic filled life of the celebrity Britney spears. One of the stereotype of celebrity’s is that they are always filled with drama and Britney proves that to be correct.

The article paints Britney in a way that makes it seem like she is feuding with her parent’s and that she has no control over her own life anymore although she is fighting for control. They are obviously false information as Britney's friends, Sam Lufti, has been accused of drugging Britney and she cannot make the right decisions. When events like this occur in a celebrity’s life they often have more media and fan attention because everybody wants to know what is going on and the mysterious life of the celebrity, they are often represented as being out of control and making a scene where ever they go. Bad publicity is almost always being dished out on multiple celebrities, making them more popular to the public eye as the interesting and bizarre life intrigues them.
