Ancient China The Huang He (Yellow River) and the

Chang Jiang (Yangtze River) are the main rivers in China.

Civilization first began along the Yellow River and spread to other parts of China.

The ancient Chinese did not know about the Egyptians, Romans or Greeks.

They called themselves the “Middle Kingdom” because they believed they lived at the Center of the World.
