Culture is central to the health & wellbeing of ATSI peoples.

Transformation of Australian health system requires:

A strong & resilient workforce characterised by increased numbers of ATSI professionals & support workers, & a culturally responsive workforce acting in partnership with individuals, families & communities that provides culturally safe & responsive care to increase access to available, affordable, acceptable & appropriate healthcare to ATSI peoples

Allied Health Clinical Teams In providing services for Aboriginal people & communities ideally:

l  Clinical design teams need to include Aboriginal Health clinicians, workers, and representation or input from Aboriginal consumers, patients and communities

l  Multidisciplinary teams include Aboriginal Health workers practitioners & clinicians

l  Aim for all Clinical staff be trained in Cultural Awareness, & be culturally responsive

l  Aim to improve outcomes- Monitor, evaluate data & Aboriginal patient and community feedback, action results.

l  May need to develop strategies/ processes to be able to implement these criteria/ or other actions to achieve Aboriginal input & engagement
