1. INTRODUCTIE

Noorwegen is niet alleen gekend om haar olie en natuur (bergen, fjorden, gletsjers, het noorderlicht), maar

ook vanwege haar hoge levensstandaard en als één van de Noordse landen met de gelukkigste burgers ter

wereld. 1

Met een relatief kleine bevolking (5.356.789 inwoners) is de start-up scene vrij hecht. Start-ups kunnen

profiteren van overheidsinitiatieven zoals Oslo Business Region, hackthons en bruisende lokale

evenementen zoals Startup Extreme en Oslo Innovation Week.

In deze paper vindt u relevante organisaties voor start-ups, incubators en accelerators en een opsomming

van wat momenteel de meest belovende start-ups en de voornaamste incubators en accelerators in

Noorwegen zijn. Aangezien de markt continue in ontwikkeling is, is het helaas onmogelijk om alle bedrijven

weer te geven, deze paper dient dan ook als een beginnende wegwijs in de wereld van start-ups, incubators

en accelerators in Noorwegen.

Het concept “Business Garden” is een nationaal programma dat eigendom is van en gedeeltelijk

gefinancierd wordt door Kommunal- og moderniseringsdepartementet (the Ministry of Local

Government and Modernisation). Hoofddoel is om innovatie, ontwikkeling en nieuwe bedrijven in

landelijke gebieden te laten groeien. De ‘Business Gardens’ richten hun focus voornamelijk op

toekomstige talenten (de jeugd).

Een ‘Business Garden’ is een klein bedrijfscentrum met co-locatie start-up bedrijven. Het is hierbij

van belang dat het initiatief tot het oprichten van een ‘Business Garden’ wordt genomen door de

ondernemers en niet door de lokale overheid of gemeente.
