Introducing T.I.G.E.R. FLOORS New Housing Options Coming Fall 2019 TIGER (TOPICS of INTEREST for the GROUP ENGAGEMENT of RESIDENTS) Floors are housing options for students who wish to live with those who share common hobbies and interests. Through specialized activities and program, residents will come together around a topic or theme unique to their floor. Each floor with have a mentor, who will develop a relationship with a dedicated faculty or staff member. Most TIGER Floors are unrelated to academic study, as students often meet and know others in their programs. Instead, TIGER Floors provide students opportunities to make personal connections built around shared interests. This will help students transition to campus living, while creating a greater sense of place and expanding social circles. It is recommended that interested students complete housing applications as soon as possible – the earlier the better. Space is limited for TIGER Floor residency, so please rank all floors in the order in which you would like to live. Students who do not receive their first choice will be able to attend programs hosted by their preferred TIGER Floor(s.) Not all TIGER Floors listed in this brochure will be offered. TIGER Floors will be determined based on interest and available space. New Housing Options Coming

Fall 2019

TIGER (TOPICS of INTEREST for the GROUP ENGAGEMENT of RESIDENTS) Floors are housing options for students who wish to live with those who share common hobbies and interests. Through specialized activities and program, residents will come together around a topic or theme unique to their floor. Each floor with have a mentor, who will develop a relationship with a dedicated faculty or staff member. Most TIGER Floors are unrelated to academic study, as students often meet and know others in their programs.

Instead, TIGER Floors provide students opportunities to make personal connections built around shared interests. This will help students transition to campus living, while creating a greater sense of place and expanding social circles.

It is recommended that interested students complete housing applications as soon as possible – the earlier the better. Space is limited for TIGER Floor residency, so please rank all floors in the order in which you would like to live. Students who do not receive their first choice will be able to attend programs hosted by their preferred TIGER Floor(s.)

Community Service Residents on this floor are interested in giving back to their community. Programs may include food drives and clean-up days.

Creative Writing Residents on this floor have a passion for writing. Programs may involve writing to prompts, book clubs, and constructive feedback sessions.

Diversity Residents on this floor are interested in learning about others. Programs will span topics in race, religion, sexual orientation, etc...

24 Hour Quiet Residents on this floor are interested in a minimal noise environment. Programs will focus on academic success.

Fairy Tales Residents on this floor have a passion for classic stories. Programs may include character development and morals.

Baking Residents on this floor have a passion for baking. Programs may involve demonstrations or events – like the show “Chopped.”

Arts Residents on this floor are interested in artistic expression through art, music, theater, and more. Programs may include craft nights and talent shows.

Animal Lover Residents on this floor have a passion for all-things animals. Programs may involve visiting the therapy dogs, or the zoo. There is no modification to the pet policy for residents of this floor.

International Residents on this floor are interested in learning about different cultures; residents may have an international roommate. Programs may introduce new foods, music, and customs.

High GPA Residents on this floor have a passion for academics. They will strive to maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Programs may include mentorship from President Terenzio.

Intramural Residents on this floor have a passion for staying active. Programs may include volleyball, soccer, football, and softball games.

Leadership Residents on this floor are interested in developing leadership skills. Programs will focus on communication, teamwork, and group dynamics.

Military Residents on this floor will have a connection to the military, whether currently active, a dependent of a veteran, or an interest in enlisting.

N.E.R.D.Not even remotely dorky, this floor will have residents who are interested in comics and superheroes.

Outdoor Residents on this floor have a passion for the outdoors. Expect to go hiking, kayaking, skiing, and the like.

Fantasy Sports Residents on this floor are interested in fantasy sports. Programs may include hosting NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB leagues.

T.I.G.E.R. FLOOR OPTIONS

Housing applications are available at cobleskill.erezlife.com with a step by step guide for completing your application.

Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Submit your application early to increase your chance of being assigned your preference.

Housing assignments are emailed the third week of July.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A T.I.G.E.R. FLOOR

Strengths Quest Residents on this floor may take personality assessments and learn how to best-use their innate strengths in everyday life.

Rainbow Ally Residents on this floor advocate for full gender and sexuality identity inclusivity. Programs may include Safe Zone training, and educational exercises aimed at raising awareness about the LGBTQI+ community and its history.

Substance Free Residents on this floor will not possess or consume alcohol or other drugs on or off campus. Socials will be a focus of the floor.

Video Games Residents on this floor will connect over video games, on Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, and PC systems.

Pop Culture Residents on this floor are interested in popular music, movies, and television; talk about the latest Netflix binge with your floor mates!
