GO SULTRY FOR SUMMERNow transform dishwater blondes and mousy, light brown brunettes into sultry blondes with Sunlit Sultry, a freehand “dip dyed” technique that delivers beautiful, summery sunlit tips in only fi ve to six sections with K PAK Color’s NEW Level 10 Sultry Blondes.

Sunlit Sultry looks especially sizzling on the season’s hottest style—the soft, wavy LOB (or long bob)—but don’t fret, it also looks stunning on medium to long, layered haircuts!

FORMULA: CHOOSE 10G, 10N OR 10B VERO K-PAK COLORMIX 1:1 WITH 10, 20, 30 OR 40 VOLUMESunlit Tip: Use more than one shade of Level 10 blonde and/ or different levels of developer to create shade variation.

STEP 1: Part hair in the center. Section hair from ear to ear at the back of the head and clip away. Take a slice parting, and freehand paint your choice of Level 10 shade in ribbons (about ½- inch wide) on selected strands (from halfway down the strand to the ends). Turn your color brush on its side to feather the top of the ribbon at the transition point between the natural hair and the Level 10 color. Be sure to vary the starting point of your ribbons of color for a natural, hand-painted effect.

Sunlit Tip: Alternate slices with deep zig-zag weaves to create perfectly imperfect color transitions. The result will look natural—like the sun did it!

STEP 2: Take a curved slice parting from just above the ear into the hairline, all the way back to the opposite side. Continue to paint your chosen color from halfway down the strand to the ends, feathering the transition point between the natural hair and the Level 10 color (section will be from ear to ear).

Sunlit Tip: Clip a long piece of foil over your hand-painted ribbons before you drop the next section, so it’s easy to go back and check your color.

STEP 3: Take a curved slice parting around the head, from approximately eyebrow to eyebrow, and continue to section and paint in the same manner.

STEP 4: Continue working up the head shape for as many sections as needed (5 to 6 should do it), being sure to leave a top section (about 1-inch from the part) to drop down as a natural veil of hair over your hand-painted sections.

Sunlit Tip: For even greater contrast, use Vero K-PAK Crème Lightener to create your sunlit tips, then gloss-tone the whole head with your choice of our new Instant Gloss Toners!
