NICEIC is the leading voluntary body for the electrical contracting industry in the UK.

For over 60 years we have been assessing the competence of electrical contractors and currently have over 28,000 registered contractors. Our registrants complete 88% of all the electrical work in the UK and they carry out 1.25 million domestic and 750,000 commercial jobs every year on average.

Now for the first time, we are bringing this level of expertise and professionalism to the Middle East.

NICEIC is an IEC 17065 registered organisation and our Middle East Approved Contractor Scheme is open to electrical contractors undertaking design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical installations to the relevant national and regional standards, e.g. DEWA, ADWEA and IEC 60364 (IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671 equivalent), as amended, plus other recognised industry standards and codes of practice.

The scheme covers:

Electricians working on commercial and industrial installations

Electricians working on domestic installations

Electrical installation condition reporting (testing, inspection, PIRs)

Street lighting installers

Security systems installers

Any other activity covered by IEC 60364 (BS 7671)

THE POWER TO DELIVER INDUSTRY-LEADING TRAINING

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 requires that electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe working order.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the examination of electrical appliances to make sure they are safe to use.

The PAT scheme from the NICEIC provides formal recognition of a firm’s ability to undertake PAT testing
