Introducing Dr. Wilhelm Weber The main story 16 February 2018 Dear friends of Kristin Lange and the Old Latin School, Lenten Greetings! Cordial greetings and many blessings to you from St. Louis, MO, where it is springtime one day and winter the next. After Kristin Lange introduced me to you in her newsletter, I wanted to reach out to you shortly thereafter to say thank you for supporting both Kristin and the Old Latin School in Wittenberg. I also wanted to provide you with a brief update of my activities, and ask if you would prayerfully consider continuing to support the work at the Old Latin School as I transition into the managing director position. Much has happened in the past three years. Your support allowed the Old Latin School to open to the public in May 2015. Your support brought Kristin Lange to Germany as the first Managing Director of the renovated Old Latin School. And now, your support can help the Old Latin School begin its next stage of work. After visiting Wittenberg to learn from Kristin at the Old Latin School, I traveled to the United States to introduce myself to people who have supported the Old Latin School. I have had the opportunity to preach in several congregations and meet many committed Christians who want to see the Gospel of Jesus shared in places like Wittenberg, where atheism and secularism have greatly hindered the church. One of my highest priorities is to hold weekly services at the OLS Chapel and to reach out to the community of Wittenberg seeking the lost so that they can hear the saving Gospel of Jesus. Another significant goal of my work in Wittenberg is to help the Old Latin School become an embassy for World Lutheranism. People from all over the world are seeking the Lutheran identity represented by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and the 37 member churches of the International Lutheran Council. The Old Latin School and the International Lutheran Council have formed a partnership to be a beacon of light for world Lutheranism. These efforts will include conferences, seminars, and leadership training at the Old Latin School beginning in the Fall of 2018. This is another way in which the Old Latin School can help share the Gospel of Jesus with the world. I am truly humbled for being asked to be a part of the Old Latin School. I need to give special thanks to Kristin Lange for the excellent work she has done in Wittenberg. In fact, without her work of the past couple of years, my coming to the Old Latin School would not be possible. I am thankful and have been encouraged by the support of the ILSW Board particularly Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison, President of the LCMS, Bishop Hans-Jörg Voigt of SELK. Special thanks to Dr. Albert Collver, Senior Managing Director, Rev. Dr. Michael Kumm, Chairman of the ILSW, Dr. Lawrence Rast, President of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne and Ulrich Schroeder, all who are helping me get ready to begin my task after Kristin’s farewell. I would ask that you continue to pray for Kristin Lange, asking God for many blessings on her as she begins this new and exciting part of her life. As a native of South Africa, I am truly happy to see her become a part of the Lutheran Community there. Please pray for the outreach of the Gospel in Wittenberg. This is needed perhaps more than it ever has been since Christianity first came to Germany. Pray for the success of the Old Latin School as a beacon of world Lutheranism. Finally, prayerfully consider supporting my work in Wittenberg. If the Lord moves you, please partner with me to support the work at the Old Latin School.
