Introducing Bible Studies Knowing God through studying His WordIt’s that time of year again…Summer. What do you feel when you think of all that summer brings? Is it great excitement about a break from school and possibilities of family vacations? Is it a sense of panic from the busyness that summer can represent? Maybe you see summer as a time to step away from responsibilities that keep you busy during the rest of the year. Whatever the feelings may be, I hope that this summer represents for you a time of great joy as you grow in your relationship with God.

We are excited to offer several Bible Study options this summer as a part of the discipleship ministry of North Asheville Baptist Church. We have a variety of studies and locations that will make it easy to connect with a group. So, let’s take a step back and reconsider what’s actually occurring with Bible Studies. It’s the Bible…the Word of God…being studied together in community with one another. It’s easy to let that become a familiar experience and lose some of the wonder of the reality that our Great God, who made the heavens and the earth, has made Himself known to us…through the Bible! Let us not grow familiar and cold to the Word of God. God’s word is powerful. How powerful? He “spoke” the world into existence! Genesis 1:3 tells us “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” I’m not sure about you, but that gets me excited about reading His Word and learning more about this God who continues to speak life into us through His Word.

Please join us this summer in stirring up this wonder of who God is through studying the Bible in groups together. My prayer for each of you is that the Bible would be like the Psalmist says in Psalm 119:103 “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”

Take a moment to read through these offerings. The last page allows you to sign up for a study. Please fill it out and place it in the offering plate. If you need more information, please call the church office at 828-658-9443.

AWAKE3 Options Available

Kevin Barnette -District 1Bill McDonald-District 8James Hendon- District 8

Life has a way of lulling us to sleep spiritually. It's time to wake up! The church in America needs revival. And that will happen when members of the body of Christ return to God. This study looks at several places in the Bible where God called people to return to Him. It's a call for us, too—a call to experience revival and awakening personally and in our churches. As people have turned back to God, He has done extraordinary things and sparked great movements. Wouldn't you like to see God do that again? Join us on the journey of asking God to bring about the next great movement of renewal and turning back to Him.

SLIGHTLY BAD GIRLS OF THE BIBLE -Women’s Study With Jennifer ToroMeets in District 2Fridays 9:00AMAppalachian Java, Burnsville, NC

A spiteful boss, a defiant employee, a manipulative mother, a desperate housewife, an envious sister…honey, we know these women. We’ve lived with them, worked with them, or caught a glimpse of them in our mirrors. Now let’s take a look at their ancient counterparts in Scripture: Sarah mistreated her maidservant, Hagar despised her mistress, Rebekah manipulated her son, Leah claimed her sister’s husband, and Rachel envied her fertile sister. They were far from evil, but hardly perfect. Mostly good, yet slightly bad. In other words, these matriarchal mamas look a lot like us.
