    WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?We need to develop strong public-private partnerships to create a robust

    STEM pipeline of skilled workers and entrepreneurs to drive urban economic

    growth. The three main elements needed for this to be successful include:

    THE PARTNERSThe Activating Local Innovation Communities initiative (ALC) is a public-private

    partnership between the White House, Microsoft Research and America21 which

    will be a catalyst for making Americas cities vibrant and inclusive centers of

    innovation and entrepreneurship. The ALC will connect STEM talent in diverse

    communities to opportunities in the rapidly growing innovation economy.

    America21S TRACK RECORDOver the past two years, America21 has actively promoted the ALC

    Initiative through related events such as:

    Screenings of the CNN Documentary, The New Promised Land:

    Silicon Valley(with Soledad O'Brien) in Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA;

    and Newark, NJ

    Gathering of Angels November, 2011 in partnership with Rutgers

    Business School and the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and

    Economic Development (CUEED)

    MBEC May, 2012 Minority Biomedical Entrepreneurship

    Conference in partnership with BioEnterprise in Cleveland, OH

    Closing the Wealth Gap September, 2012 in partnership with

    Emerging Technology Consortium (ETC) and OpenGovernment TV
