Biochemical Pathways

• Definition:

• Two biochemical pathways we will study:

• Clip from book.

The long chains of chemical reactions that take place in the normal operation of living systems.

Overview of Photosynthesis

• Two Stages:– Light Cycle:

– Calvin Cycle:

Takes sunlight & water to make ATP & NADPH

Takes the ATP & NADPH from light cycle to make sugar, starch, and amino acids.

Overview of Cell Respiration

• Two Stages:– Glycolysis

– Aerobic Respiration

Takes glucose to make pyruvic acid and some ATP

Takes pyruvic acid and oxygen to make ATP for the cell.
