administrative data to improve data interoperability to
support clinical care, reduce burden and improve
efficiency—furthering implementation of “record once and
reuse.”
Overarching Charge: Produce information and
considerations related to the merging of clinical and
administrative data, its transport structures, rules and
protections, for electronic prior authorizations to support
work underway, or yet to be initiated, to achieve the vision.

Last Meeting
• CMS presented on the Documentation Requirement Lookup Service (DRLS)
• We discussed the Guiding Principles and Ideal State work, including the design for future state
work.
• Considered how to focus on highest value areas and ‘create a pathway to automation’ for PA
• We reviewed updates to the Data Classes
• We reviewed next steps and the updated timeline, emphasizing that draft recommendations
would be ready by July and would be presented at the 9/9 full HITAC meeting
