Interpolation and Interpolation and ExtrapolationExtrapolation
Interpolation is a way of determining variables on a graph within the given data
Extrapolation is a way of determining variables on a graph outside the given data
Some brief descriptions;
If I wanted to figure out how much snow would fall in 2.5 hours, I would draw a broken line up to the line of best fit. Next from where the broken line met the line of best fit, I would make a dotted line going to the left.
Approximately, 12.5cm of snow would fall after 2 ½ hrs.
Extrapolation is almost like interpolation, but first I must extend the line of best fit then you can figure out what you need. How far would you travel in 7 2/3 hours?
You would travel approximately 155Km

1. If you traveled for 3 ½ hours how far have you traveled?
2. How long have you traveled for if you went 75km out?
Using interpolation, I found out that in 3 ½ hours, you would have traveled 70km
If you were 75km out, you would have traveled for 3 ¾ hrs.

1. How much snow would drop after 4 ½ hrs?
2. How long would it take for 21.125cm of snow to fall?
1. 22.5cm of snow would have fallen from the sky after 4 ½ hrs.
2. It would take 4 ¼ hrs for 21.125cm of snow.
