Pu3ng communica;on at the heart of risk and crisis management
Risks and crises cannot be managed without effec5ve communica5on. As research shows, communica5on is the most powerful influence on people’s decision-‐making and behaviour in rela5on to risk.
Communica5on is increasingly being recognized as essen5al to enabling people, including organiza5ons and governments, to mobilise their own knowledge to effec5vley cope with risks and crises.
Who are we ?
The INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RISK AND CRISIS COMMUNICATION is a non-‐governmental, independent and interna;onal network of na;onally organised associa;ons with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The objec;ves
• Offer a mul;media plaTorm to enhance risk knowledge and crisis preven;on;
• further responsible and professional risk and crisis communica;on;
• engage in field-‐work ac;vi;es in order to contribute to the reduc;on of risks, the preven;on of crisis and catastrophe scenarios, and the minimisa;on of the harm they may cause;
• give a voice to those who are at risk or suffer as a result of crises.
Our tasks
• Develop risk awareness and responsiveness as well as a crisis communica;on mind set;
• ini;ate and par;cipate in field-‐work to increase risk awareness, mi;ga;on and preparedness;
• work on interna;onal, na;onal, regional and local projects with communi;es to make above aims come true;
• organise training, seminars and conferences;
• serve as a partner to the JOURNAL OF RISK AND CRISIS COMMUNICATION and the ACADEMY OF RISK AND CRISIS COMMUNICATION;
