We are located on a large, semi-wooded property near Humble, Texas, one mile North of George Bush Intercontinental Airport. C ampers spend their time experiencing the challenges and responsibilities of loving, riding and taking care of horses. Whether the Camper comes to Horse Camp as a novice or experienced rider, they will leave with more confidence and new equestrian skills. A ll Campers receive personal attention. We want our Campers to leave the ranch with lots of smiles, good memories, and horsemanship skills to last a lifetime. Campers are guaranteed at least two hours of riding each day on forested trails along Cypress Creek. They will spend time learning about and caring for horses in a safe and wholesome atmosphere. E ach Camper will be assigned a horse for the duration of their program. Horse Camp activities include grooming and tacking horses as well as riding instruction. Safe practices are taught and reinforced during the day. Campers will be asked to perform barn chores, such as mucking stalls, feeding horses, oiling tack, and whatever else is needed to keep our horses healthy and happy. C ampers will be taught how to groom, saddle and bridle their assigned horse. General horsemanship will be taught, the mind of the horse and basic riding instructions, how to control the horse with hand and leg cues, proper body position and trail safety. During the Horse Camp our instructors will also offer lessons on the parts of bridles, saddles and of the horse as well as other equine related topics such as horse colors and breeds. THE FALL HORSE CAMP PROGRAM IS OFFERED TO CAMPERS 8YEARS* AND UP. Limited enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call us at 281-446-7232 to book your Camp. Payment for multi-day camps is requested upon booking. One day camps can be paid for upon arrival. Please bring this completed Application on the first day of Camp. *If your camper is mentally and physically able to attend camp safety, we can accept Campers younger than 8 years, call to to discuss your situation. CAMPERS should dress for outdoor fall weather. Campers should bring a light jacket or rain gear, depending on the forecast. Long pants and closed-toe shoes/boots with a low heel are required for safety. SEI approved helmets must be worn when on a horse, we have a great selection of helmets for sale. We also have helmets to loan. A large brimmed hat is essential as well as sunscreen and insect repellent. A sack lunch, snacks, and beverages should be brought each day. A small soft-sided cooler with frozen water bottles is a great option. There are no vending machines at the ranch, we do have well water to refill water bottles. Reusable water bottles are preferred, they don’t create trash and stay in the water bottle holders used when riding better than one-use bottles. Please have your Camper label all items with their names, we are not responsible for lost items. Each Camper will be given a storage area for their coolers and backpacks. C ypress Trails Ranch offers riding programs suited forvarious ages, abilities, and skill levels. We are located on a

Campers spend their time experiencing the challenges andresponsibilities of loving, riding and taking care of horses.

Whether the Camper comes to Horse Camp as a novice orexperienced rider, they will leave with more confidence andnew equestrian skills.

A ll Campers receive personal attention. We want ourCampers to leave the ranch with lots of smiles, good

memories, and horsemanship skills to last a lifetime. Campersare guaranteed at least two hours of riding each day onforested trails along Cypress Creek. They will spend timelearning about and caring for horses in a safe and wholesomeatmosphere.

What to Expect &What is Expected of Your Horse CamperCampers are guaranteed at least two hours of riding each day and will have personal attention of an adult staff member.All riding will be under adult staff supervision, unless the parent gives permission for the Camper to ride out on the trailwith one of our Junior Wranglers.

Campers will be expected to help with the horses or any other yard, pasture, or barn chores that may arise during the timethey are at the ranch. Campers should bring a sack lunch, snacks and lots to drink. They will be given a 1-2 hour(s) breakin the middle of the day to eat and rest.

Campers need to be willing to help and to maintain a cheerful attitude. Cypress Trails Ranch provides a unique learningexperience for young people who have a serious interest in learning about horses and the requirements of a horseoperation. Two colored bandannas will be provided on the first day of camp. Please make sure your Camper returnswith a bandanna each day. These bandannas are used to identify our Horse Campers.

Parents: Please let us know what day(s) the Camper will be participating so that we can put them on our schedule.

If the Camper does not follow instructions or appears to be endangering him/herself or others by their actions or lack ofobedience, the rest of the Camp may be revoked with a refund given in HorseBuck$* for the balance of the fee.*HorseBuck$ are credits that can be applied to bookings for trail rides, they have no cash value.

Fall 2020HORSE CAMP INFORMATION

1. Campers may arrive between 8:00 - 9:00 AM and they may leave at whatever time is convenient, but must leave by5:00 PM. Half Day Campers can arrive between 8:00 AM - 12 Noon* or 1:00 PM* - 5:00 PM. Please make sure thatyou sign the child in and let a staff member know they are on the premises. No child should be dropped off withoutthe parent notifying a staff member of their presence. Please be on time and pick up your child no later than 5:00 PM,unless previous arrangements have been made. *You may drop off or pick up your campers a little before or after thesetimes.

2. A refrigerator is provided. Each child must bring a sack lunch, drinks, and snacks for the day. Label all food and drinkswith your child’s name. If your child’s birthday falls during their camp session, please let us know if you would like toprovide a cake, and/or small party.

3. Riding boots/shoes with a heel are preferred but sneakers/tennis shoes are an acceptable alternative. Long pants arenecessary for comfortable riding. A wide-brimmed hat is essential for sun protection when not riding.

4. We sell equestrian helmets, or if you want to purchase one from another source, we can advise you as to thetype needed or where to buy one. Helmets are required for riding safety. If you provide your own helmet label it withyour child’s name in permanent marker.

5. You may want to provide sunscreen and insect repellent. The mosquitoes on the wooded trails can be annoying.

6. The Campers are being taught some rules, not only for camp but to live by. The first of which is, “There’s no suchthing as I can’t”. We encourage you to talk to your child about the day and what they have learned. Then pass on anyfeedback you receive to help us improve our Programs.

7. Each day the Campers will be involved in a discussion relating to the horse world. It may be about equipment, horsecare or various styles of riding. Please listen when they explain what they have learned, this will encourage them tokeep learning.

8. The success of this Program lies with us all. We try to teach by example and from experience. We value yourfeedback. If you have any questions, please ask. Any suggestions you have, please pass them on. We have beenworking with Campers and horses for many years and we have a lot of experience, but don’t have all of the answers.Together, we can make a difference.

9. Label all personal belongings.

10. If the staff needs to be aware of any special considerations, allergies etc. please remember to give us that information(in writing). Include any medications your child takes, for example allergy medications. All medications should bechecked in with one of the staff members when you arrive. If your child uses an inhaler let the staff know that theywill be keeping the inhaler with them.

Thank you for choosing Cypress Trails Ranch. Please help us ensure that everyone has a fun andsafe Horse Camp experience by following these simple rules:

■ Please complete and sign waivers included in thisdocument.

■ Complete the Special Considerations and ContactInformation page which lists your child’s allergies,and any medical treatments they are currentlyundergoing.

■ Provide a copy of your child’s insurance card andcomplete the Special Considerations and ContactInformation. We need written permission to have yourchild treated medically in case of accident, thispermission is granted in the Limited Medical Power ofAttorney in this document. The staff at Cypress Trailsrequires your proxy so your child can be treated.

■ Have your Intern bring an extra set of clothing (in theirbackpack). Interns should ride in long pants or jeans. Agood sturdy pair of shoes/boots with a heel is preferredbut tennis shoes/sneakers are an acceptable alternative.We prefer shoes with heels because shoes without heelsmay slip in the stirrups of the saddle. No open-toedshoes allowed.

■ No inappropriate clothing is permitted, includingT-shirts with sexual innuendos or foul language. On thefirst day of camp, each Camper will be given twobandannas. When the Camper is at camp thesebandannas should be worn around their neck, tied ontheir jeans, or secured on a part of their body for easyidentification.

■ Swearing and insubordination to any of theinstructors, wranglers, staff or management is notallowed and the Camper may be sent home for theseinfractions. No rude or racial remarks will be tolerated.No physical violence at any time is permitted. Any abuseor rough treatment of any animal (regardless of thespecies) on the premises is grounds for immediatedismissal.

■ Use of cell phones is discouraged. Upon arrival phonesare to be stored in Camper’s backpack, unless they areabsolutely needed to talk with parents. The wranglers

and staff carry phones at all times.We want theCampersto pay attention while working and playing at the ranch,not texting or talking to friends on the phone. Please callonly when necessary, and ask your Campers to do thesame.

■ Campers who wear glasses should have eyeglasskeepers on their glasses to prevent loss, as it is easy foreye wear to come off when riding a horse. Contacts lenswearers should keep saline or eye wash in theirbackpacks.

■ Campers may not use or be under the influence of anymind-altering substances (drugs and alcohol).

■ Campers may not smoke, vape, dip snuff or chewtobacco.

■ We allow the Campers to feed the horses snacks.Acceptable horse snacks include carrots, apples, andcereals. Bringing horse snacks is elective and in no wayrequired.

■ Please indicate all persons who are authorized to pickup your child from camp on the Special Considerationsand Contact Information page. List the peoplepermitted to pick up your child and their phone number,address, and relationship to the child.

■ Campers are not allowed to leave the main ranch areawithout adult supervision. Please let us know when youpick up your child and make sure that you sign them outfor the day.

While the Campers are learning, they developfriendships that will last a lifetime. People from all walksof life, from all over thegreater Houston area canwork, learn, and play togetheron a level playing field. Theyspend time being new horsepeople, all the whileexperiencing some of life’smost important lessons.

NOTICE-BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT YOUMAY BEWAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE.

RELEASE ANDWAIVER OF CLAIMS: INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENTIn consideration of being allowed to use the facilities and participate in programs and events (“Programs”) at CYPRESS TRAILSEQUESTRIAN CENTER AKA “(HOST)”, the participant’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) if the Participant is a minor do herebyagree, to the fullest extent permitted by law, as follows:

1) TO WAIVE ALL CLAIMS that they have or may have against the Host arising out of the Participant’s participation inthe Programs or the use of any equipment provided by CYPRESS TRAILS EQUESTRIAN CENTER. As used herein, the term“Equipment” shall include equine animals. The Participant and his/her Parents or legal guardian(s) specifically understand thatthey are releasing any and all claims that arise or may arise from any negligent acts or conduct of the CYPRESS TRAILSEQUESTRIAN CENTER, its owners, affiliates, operators, employees, agents, and officers, to the fullest extent permitted bylaw. However, nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as a release for conduct that is found to constitute grossnegligence or intentional conduct.

2) TO ASSUME ALL RISKS of participating in the Programs and using the Equipment, even those caused by thenegligent acts or conduct of the Host, its owners, affiliates, operators, employees, agents, and officers. The Participant andhis/her Parents or legal guardian(s) understand that there are inherent risks of participating in the Programs and using theEquipment, which may be both foreseen and include serious physical injury and death.

3) TO RELEASE the host, its owners, affiliates, operators, employees, agents, and officers from all liability for any loss,injury, death, or expense that the Participant (or his/her next of kin) may suffer, arising out of his/her participation in thePrograms and use of the Equipment, including while receiving instruction and or training.

4) TO INDEMNIFY the host, its owners, affiliates, operators, employees, agents, and officers from all liability for any loss,injury, death, or expense that the Participant (or his/her next of kin) may suffer, arising out of his/her participation in thePrograms and use of the Equipment.

5) To Not Sue: By signing this, you have held us harmless from liability. We will, in turn, sue for reimbursement ofour legal fees that may be incurred due to a lawsuit being initiated by any party.

ArbitrationThe Participant, and the Participants parent (s) or legal guardian (s), if Participant is a minor, hereby agrees to submit anydispute arising from participation in the Programs to binding arbitration. Submissions shall be unlimited. For such disputes,there shall be a three-member arbitration panel, consisting of two party-appointed arbitrators (one arbitrator to be appointedby each party) and one neutral arbitrator (collectively, the “panel”), to be chosen by the party-appointed arbitrators. Theneutral arbitrator shall be an officer or director of any entity that operates a similar Equestrian Center in the United States. Inthe event that the two party-appointed arbitrators are not able to agree on a third, neutral arbitrator, the neutral arbitrator,shall be appointed by the United States District Court, for the district of Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, utilizingthe selection criteria for the neutral as set forth above. Each party shall pay its own costs, including the costs associated withthe party-appointed arbitrators, and the party shall share equally the costs associated with the neutral arbitrator. Thearbitration proceeding shall proceed in the county and state in which the Programs occurred and shall be governed by theFederal Rules of Evidence. The Panel shall establish a reasonable and appropriate discovery schedule to expeditiously resolvethis matter. Participant hereby grants to the Host, its representatives, and employees the right to take photographs and video ofParticipant in connection with Participants participation in the Programs. Participant hereby authorizes the Host to copyright,use, and publish the same in print and/or electronically. Participant hereby agrees that the Host may use such photographs andvideo of Participant for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content.Company Mailing List ReleaseParticipant hereby agrees to subscribe to the company email list. Participant may unsubscribe at any time.

EquineWarningUNDER TEXAS LAW (CHAPTER 87, CIVIL PRACTICE AND REMEDIES CODE), A FARM ANIMAL PROFESSIONAL IS NOTLIABLE FOR AN INJURY TO OR THE DEATH OF A PARTICIPANT IN FARM ANIMAL ACTIVITIES RESULTING FROM THEINHERENT RISKS OF FARMANIMAL ACTIVITIES.

Personal ResponsibilityThe Participant certifies that he/she has no physical or mental condition that precludes him/her from participation in thePrograms and that she/he is not participating against medical advice.Use of helmets is required while participating in any of the Programs.The Participant understands that his/her participation in the Programs is voluntary and further understand that he/she has theopportunity to inspect the Hosts equipment and location before any participation.The Participant understands that he/she is obligated to follow the rules of the Programs and that he/she can minimize his/herrisk of injury by doing so and through the exercise of common sense and by being aware of his/her surroundings.If, while participating in the Programs, the Participant observes any unusual hazard, which he/she believes jeopardizeshis/her personal safety or that of others, he/she will remove himself/herself from participation in the Programs andimmediately bring said hazard to the attention of the Host.
