Disable Pop-Up Blockers for MyCPD

This guide will walk you through the process of disabling pop-up blockers found in three popular web

browsers.

Popup blockers interfere with proper functioning of the MyCPD website. In particular, a popup

blocker can prevent your test result from being recorded in the MyCPD database.

You should either Turn Off Pop-up Blocker, or add an exception to the pop-up blocker to allow

mycpd.ie to create popups.

The second option will allow MyCPD open popup windows, but block popups on other websites.

Internet Explorer

Click the Tools menu at the top of the browser window.

Find the Pop-up Blocker option.

Check the Turn Off Popup Blocker option to disable the pop-up blocker altogether.

Choose the Pop-up Blocker settings option if you want to allow mycpd.ie to create popups on your computer, but block other websites from doing so.

Type in the MyCPD address ( mycpd.ie ) in the "Address of website to allow:" field, then click the Add button. You should see mycpd.ie in the list of Allowed sites. Click the Close button to exit the pop-up blocker settings window.

To verify that you have correctly configured Internet Explorer to work with MyCPD, visit the MyCPD system checker at : https://www.mycpd.ie/members/module/articulate/SystemCheck/Index.html

When this page loads, it opens a popup window with a button which you must click within 10 seconds to acknowledge that the popup window was opened correctly.

Once you click the button within the required 10 seconds, the webpage will run a suite of other checks and display a summary. When all tests pass, this summary page will look something like this:

Mozilla Firefox

For the Mozilla Firefox browser, to configure the popup blocker, select Tools->Options:

Within the Options sub-menu, you can either turn off the popup blocker completely or, alternatively,

configure it to allow mycpd.ie to open popups while preventing other websites from doing so.

To turn off the popup blocker completely, leave the box ‘Block popup windows’ unchecked, as

shown here:

To leave the popup blocker turned on, but allow mycpd.ie to still open popup windows, check the box marked ‘Block popup windows’ then click the ‘Exceptions...’ button.

Enter the MyCPD address ( mycpd.ie ) in the ‘Address of web site:’ field and click the Allow button.

You should now see mycpd.ie in the list of allowed sites. Click the Close button.
