the National Climate Change Response White Paper;• 2011 - An Inter-Departmental Task Team on CCS
established in Pretoria; and• 4 May 2012 - Cabinet endorsement of the CCS
Roadmap.

• Spoken languages – predominantly Zulu at 95% and the rest is English, IsiNdebele and Other;
• Unemployment, inequality and poverty remain the major economic challenges;
• Only 2% of the population has tertiary education; • More than half of the population survive on less than 46 USD pm; • 68% of the community has no access to electricity. • No access to potable water (38%) and sanitation (24%) and• There is a considerable need for housing;

• Located in the CACADU District, Eastern Cape• Population - 55 000• Spoken languages – IsiXhosa,(49%),Afrikaans (45%) English (6%)• Unemployment - 49% and majority is dependent on social
grants/ Pensions;• Employment is derived from retailers, tourism, agriculture and
community services (EPWP).• Eco-tourism and agriculture are two economic drivers; and• 31% of the GDP comes from agriculture

• Consider sourcing CO2 from the IDZ in the potential sites;
