Framing the discussion
Some of the big questions on REDD and rights:- Is recognition of rights a pre-requisite for
REDD+? Or can REDD+ go ahead without recognition of rights?
- Are there trade-offs between efficient emissions reductions and recognition of rights? What are they and how do we negotiate them?
- What are the choices to move forwards with REDD+ and rights?

–FFP and FFI work on REDD+ and rights Inspiration from the Whakatane initiative

1. Participation in REDD decision making
2. Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC)
3. Land Tenure, Resource Rights and REDD+
4. Equitable sharing of benefits

“produce a set of recommendations for action on REDD and Rights under your theme”• Review the principles• Amend and correct the recommendations• Produce a list of brief, clear proposals for
voting• Capture ideas and highlight differences

Voting on the group proposals:- Everyone has the same number of sticky dots- You vote by putting a dot on a proposal- You can vote for proposals for any of the
groups- You can put as many dots as you want on each
proposal- You have ten minutes for voting!
