Your home from home Staying in university accommodation will play a big part in your student life at Surrey. You will be sharing with students not only taking different courses, but also coming from many different parts of the world, introducing you to some great new friends and making unforgettable memories. Students find it easy to settle in when they first move to Surrey and you can be reassured that everything will be done to make you feel at home. There is a variety of good-quality accommodation on offer at the University of Surrey, with a choice of several different price bands. The accommodation is arranged in groups of self-catered housing called Courts of Residence, and has been designed to meet your needs and provide you with a living space to make your own. You can reach the International Study Centre (ISC) easily from all the Courts of Residence, whether on foot or by bus. Reflecting all the benefits of the Courts of Residence on the main Stag Hill Campus, our accommodation at nearby Manor Park is situated in an area of great natural beauty, about one mile away (a 20-minute walk, a short bicycle ride or a five-minute bus ride). There are 1,800 ensuite rooms and easy access to the Surrey Sports Park. Designed as a car-free student village, with a subsidised bus service, Manor Park is home to a first-class learning and living environment. It is close to a large supermarket and has its own launderettes, Reception Building and common rooms with TVs or games facilities for residents. In addition, Hazel Farm (just over three miles from the ISC) on the edge of Guildford provides an affordable option with purpose-built student housing. There is a regular free bus service to and from campus. What you can expect All rooms have broadband service and personal belongings insurance included in the rent. All rooms are equipped with a bed, desk and chair, reading lamp, bookshelf and storage for clothes. No bedding is supplied. Bedding packs can be purchased from the University’s online shop. All kitchens are equipped with a cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board. Cutlery, crockery and kitchenware are not supplied. All Courts are served by Reception Buildings where residents collect room keys and their mail. All Courts, except Bellerby Court, have a communal television room. Most apartments are mixed gender but we do have single sex apartments in most Courts. All communal areas and bedrooms are non-smoking. Room Bands Rooms are banded from A to F according to price and amenities. Details of typical rooms in each price band are given below. Hazel Farm Hazel Farm Band A rooms are all singles without a

washbasin. There are seven rooms in each two-storey

house with a kitchen, shower and two toilets.

Band B Rooms Basic Single Rooms on Stag Hill Campus and at Hazel

Farm

• Guideline weekly rent for 2016/17: £87

Guildford Court Guildford Court has 224 rooms in two-storey terraced

buildings. All rooms have washbasins and floors of 14

students share three showers and a large kitchen.

Hazel Farm Band B rooms at Hazel Farm are located in two-storey

houses shared by six students. Most rooms have

washbasins and each house has two showers and a

kitchen/living room.

Band C Rooms Standard Single Rooms on Stag Hill Campus

• Guideline weekly rent for 2016/17: £99.50

Battersea Court and Surrey Court Battersea and Surrey Courts comprise four or five-

storey houses with 14 single rooms and a kitchen on

each floor. Each room has a washbasin and each floor

shares three toilets and three showers. The kitchens

are large and provide space to prepare meals as well

as for socialising with friends. Battersea Court

Reception serves both Courts and has a television

room and games area.

Cathedral Court Cathedral Court has seven houses located a short

distance away from the centre of campus. Each block

has three or four floors of seven rooms, each with a

washbasin, a kitchen, two shared showers and two

toilets. Cathedral Court Reception Building has a TV

room and pool table.

Stag Hill Court Stag Hill Court is a sociable and popular place to live,

close to the Students' Union. The Court has 43 terraced

houses each with a large kitchen, six single rooms

without washbasins and two split-level (duplex) rooms

(see Band A). The single rooms are arranged in pairs

sharing an adjacent shower room with toilet and

washbasin. The Court has a communal lounge with

television and pool table.

Twyford Court Twyford Court has apartments of five rooms with

washbasins, sharing a kitchen and two shower rooms

and two toilets. It is located in a relatively quiet area of

the campus and shares a communal TV room in the

Cathedral Court Reception Building.

University Court University Court has apartments of four rooms without

washbasins, sharing a kitchen, a shower room and two

toilets. It is located at the edge of campus closest to the

town centre and railway station, and shares a

communal TV room and Reception Building with nearby

Stag Hill Court.

Band D Rooms Ensuite Rooms at Manor Park and Stag Hill Campus

• Guideline weekly rent for 2016/17: £135.50

All Band D rooms have an ensuite shower room with

toilet and washbasin. Most Band D rooms are located in

apartments of five to eight students sharing a kitchen.

The majority of the Band D ensuite rooms are on Manor

Park Campus.

Manor Park Manor Park offers well-equipped ensuite rooms in

shared apartments of six, seven or eight students,

sharing a kitchen/diner.

Bellerby Court This Court is located in a quiet area on the edge of our

Manor Park Campus. Three, three-storey buildings

each have six apartments of six rooms with a shared

kitchen.

Twyford Court Twyford Court has seven modern three-storey houses

mostly arranged in floors of twelve ensuite rooms

sharing a large kitchen/diner.

University Court University Court has over 300 ensuite rooms in 17

houses with two or three floors of ten students sharing

a kitchen/diner.

Millennium House Known as 'the train', this landmark building, located at

the edge of campus closest to Guildford town centre

and the railway station, has 34 apartments each with

six ensuite rooms and a shared kitchen.

International House International House has 43 apartments of six ensuite

rooms each sharing a large kitchen/diner. International

House shares a TV room and Reception Building with

Cathedral Court.

Band E Rooms Enhanced Ensuite Rooms at Manor Park and Stag Hill

Campus

• Guideline weekly rent for 2016/17: £165

Band E rooms are approximately 50% bigger than Band

D rooms so are ideal for students who have more

belongings or want more space to study or relax, but

they are very limited in number.

The rooms are mainly located at Manor Park, with

some on Stag Hill Campus, in International House and

University Court.

The rooms have an ensuite shower room with toilet and

washbasin. Band E rooms at Manor Park have double

beds and Band E rooms on campus have single beds.

Band F Rooms Studio apartments at Manor Park

• Guideline weekly rent for 2016/17: £205

Studio apartments are self-contained apartments with a

combined living, sleeping (double bed) and kitchen area

(with hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, but no oven), and

an ensuite shower/bath room; please note that numbers

are very limited and these studios are prioritised for

family couples.
