DWA-A 100E Guidelines of Integrated Urban Drainage (IUD)December 2006, 40 pages, DIN A4, ISBN 978-3-941089-71-6

As a framework of action concerning the detailed regulations for urban drainage, the given Stan-dard IUD is intended to ensure comprehensive processing as “integrated urban drainage” and to contribute to sustainable wastewater disposal. It will support operators in developing a stable foundation for fi nancial budgeting and in securing the drain and sewer systems’ long-term maintenance of value.

The IUD should work towards a holistic view of the existing conditions and future developments and necessities for the purpose of the European Water Framework Directive (Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for Community action in the fi eld of water policy).

DWA-A 125E Pipe Jacking and Related Techniques December 2008, 69 pages, DIN A4, ISBN 978-3-941897-09-0

This Standard deals with the underground installation of pre-fabricated pipes with different geometry of the cross-section. During the installation, a cavity is created in the ground by displacing, ramming, drilling, pressing or other excavation. The pipes are pulled, pushed or jacked into this cavity or into existing sewers or pipelines are relined and/or replaced. For shield drives (e. g. segment lining, shotcrete) the Standard can be applied correspondingly. To a large extent, the structure of this Standard was adapted to DIN EN 12889 “Trenchless construction and testing of drains and sewers“. Neither do this Standard and DIN EN 12889 exclude each other, nor do they regulate the same facts in different ways. However, this Standard contains details in many aspects that the European Stan-dard does not yet deal with at this point. The publication has two annexes, “Material Parameters for Pipes” (normative) and “Experience Values for the Area of Application” (informative).

DWA-A 139E Construction and Testing of Drains and SewersDecember 2009, 74 pages, DIN A4, ISBN 978-3-941897-26-7

This Standard applies to the planning, construction and testing of earth-buried drains and sewers outside buildings, which were installed by using the open-cut and aboveground method, as well as the new installation and replacement of drains and sewers.

DWA-A 139 is intended to facilitate applying and interpreting DIN EN 1610 “Construction and Testing of Drains and Sewers” and help all those involved in construction to identify the standard‘s scope and apply it. DIN EN 1610 defi nes requirements regarding the appropriate creation and testing of drains and sewers. As a supplement, it is possible to phrase stipulations that are not or not entirely included in European standards in order to cover nationally required contents. Thus, the Standard contains supplements and information on planning, installation, testing, construc-tion materials as well as approval of drains and sewers. It also defi nes the requirements regarding the qualifi cation of on-site personnel. Besides the utilisation of appropriate and durable materials, building drains and sewers in a professional way is a particular prerequisite for a long-term opera-ting and watertight sewer network.

DWA-M 153E Recommended Actions for Dealing with StormwaterAugust 2007, 35 pages, DIN A4, ISBN 978-3-941089-97-6

While standard ATV-A 128E regulates the treatment of combined wastewater, this Advisory Leafl et makes suggestions on how stormwater should be treated without mixing it with wastewater. It contains recommendations and a simplifi ed assessment method that allows users to take the load of underground and surface water, originating from stormwater of roof areas and of traffi c areas, into account in terms of quality and volume for pedestrians, bicyclists and motor vehicles.

DWA-M 153 provides municipalities, those obliged to dispose of sewage as well as planners with fundamental considerations regarding urban land-use planning or general drainage planning.

DWA-M 381E Sewage Sludge Thickening October 2007, 36 pages, DIN A4, ISBN 978-3-941897-43-4

Thickening of sewage sludge is one of the most important basic treatment steps of the entire sludge treatment process. For decades thickening of sewage sludge has been accomplished by using either gravity settling in thickeners or in a fl otation unit or by mechanical thickening. Flotation and mechanical thickening processes are almost solely used for the thickening of waste activated sludge. In 1998 the former ATV Sub-Committee 3.2 „Stabilisation, Disinfection, Thicke-ning, Dewatering and Conditioning of Sewage Sludges“ presented the working report „Thickening of Sewage Sludge“. The various procedures and their effi ciency and cost-effectiveness have been updated and are now presented in this Advisory Leafl et.

DWA-M 803E Cost Structures in Wastewater EngineeringNovember 2006, ca. 69 pages, DIN A4, with CD-ROM „Service-Tool“, ISBN 978-3-941089-74-7

The demand for a reliable cost information and standardization as a basis for comparative cost state-ments to give proof of the cost advantage of the collection, transport and treatment of wastewater is growing under public pressure. This Advisory Leafl et provides the preconditions for the collection of investment costs and operating costs as well as any relevant technical information about the lifetime of the project in a standardized and constant form. DWA-M 803 is intended to provide with the cost structure a standard to the operators of wastewater plants but also to engineering consultants, chartered accountants, business consultants etc. in order to consider costs aspects when structuring fi xed assets and to be critical of project development, planning, building and operation processes in the stage of preview and retrospect. The DWA Working Group WI-4.2, in accordance with their mandate to determine quality charac-teristics for the planning, construction implementation and operation and to match these to the progressive technical development, has elaborated the following Advisory Leafl et with useful infor-mation for the safeguarding of the quality and effi ciency with the planning, construction surveil-lance and operation of wastewater and waste disposal facilities. Above all it is to provide help to those responsible decision-makers for planning and construction projects as well as for operation, also in the function as customer, in order to ensure and implement the quality and effi ciency of the project. There are in the appendix some helpful checklists of ‘planning’, ‘construction’, ‘operation’ and ‘contract management with processing of tasks by third parties’.

DWA-M 1100E Benchmarking in Water Supply and Wastewater DisposalMarch 2008, ca. 17 pages, DIN A4, ISBN 978-3-941897-20-5

Aim of benchmarking is the increase in effi ciency of those participating in benchmarking. Bench-marking is an instrument for the optimisation of the technical and commercial processes. It has, as objective, the increase of customer satisfaction, the quality, the security of supply and disposal and the effi ciency in terms of overall effi ciency, taking into particular account the sustainability of supply and disposal. Criteria for a successful benchmaking in water management are summarised in this Advisory Leafl et. These are based on common experiences from projects in which bench-marking has been applied as instrument for the determination of position and for the identifi cation of improvement potential as well as the implementation of measures derived therefrom and whose assessment of effectiveness has been applied. Described are the fundamental constraints, me-thods, opportunities and risks, which are connected to a voluntary benchmarking in water supply and wastewater disposal.

Treatment Steps for Water ReuseMay 2008, 30 pages, 1 fi gure, 1 annex, DIN A4, CD-ROM attached (French, Farsi and German), ISBN 978-3-941089-83-9

Since years it has been pointed out with increasing intensity that, in future, water will globally be an even more scarce resource than oil and gas. The approach to a solution must therefore be reduction of the consumption. Applied to water this means reuse of water and small cycles!

So the working group BIZ-11.4 ‘Water Reuse’ was launched within the DWA and one the tasks is the identifi cation and description of treatment steps for water reuse, especially for successful processes with little experience.

Therefore you will fi nd in the annex a detailed matrix in which techniques for the treatment of wastewater are presented and assessed with the aim of water reuse.
