International Space Olympiad Dear ISO Candidate Congratulations on having successfully registered for the International Space Olympiad 2018-2019 International Space Olympiad (ISO) is an International Quiz competition on Space Science and Technology for students from Grades 5-12. It is organized by Edu Mithra Intellectual services Pvt. Ltd. every year with a mission to attract and encourage young minds to explore the field and enhance the aptitude of children in space science & technology. ISO aims to bring about healthy competition among students at an international level and offer a chance at a sponsored trip to NASA up for grabs to the winners. IMPORTANT In consideration to the request from students and parents, we are conducting an official MOCK TEST on 29 th December 2018. All students are requested to attend the same for understanding the exam pattern. On 29 th a link for mock test will be available on ISO website. Students can login using their registered email id as username and password will be ISO123. There is no requirement for Zoom application to attend the mock test. Preliminary exam will be conducted on 5 th January 2019 (Junior) and 6 th January 2019 (Senior & Super Senior). ZOOM application, Webcam/Laptop with inbuilt web cam are compulsory for the preliminary exam. Mobile Phones/ Tab are NOT allowed. Time slot will be announce on 1 st January 2019. The Preliminary exam will be a purely online examination with no fixed location as an exam center and can be attempted from any computer or laptop with access to the internet and adhering to the instructions mentioned below.

Date of the examination:

For Junior Category: 05.01.2019 (Saturday )

For Senior & Super Senior Category: 06.01.2019 (Sunday)

Instructions for attending ISO Online Preliminary Exam

About Online Prelims

International Space Olympiad Online prelims are the first level of ISO. The candidates for the

intermediate level are selected from this examination and all the candidates should qualify in this level to be eligible to participate in the next level of ISO. This Exam is purely an online examination with no fixed location as an exam center but can be attempted from any computer with an

internet connection, adhering to the instructions and terms stated below. Please read the following instructions carefully before attending the online examination.

• Candidates can attend the online examination from their home using their personal computers with WEB CAM (or Laptop with inbuilt cam).

• We do NOT recommend Mobile Phones or Tab for the ISO Online Examination. • The online examination is highly secure from malpractices. Measures are taken to

completely eliminate the chances of foul play through live video and audio capture of the

candidates who attend the exam.

• In the examination, you will be asked 50 multiple choice questions based on the syllabus and you will have 15 minutes to answer all of them.

• IMPORTANT NOTE: Each candidate will be allotted a TIME SLOT to attend the online

examination and candidates have to attend the examination in the allotted slot itself

without fail. Failure to do so will cancel their candidature.

• The detailed time slot allocation list will be published on the ISO website on 1st January,

2019.

• IMPORTANT NOTE: THERE IS NO USER ID AND PASSWORD TO ATTEND THE ONLINE

EXAMINATION. Instead candidates will be allotted with a contact number which they

should contact at the allotted time slot. Then every candidate will be allotted with a

facilitator and the facilitator will guide the candidate in attending the examination

properly, via phone. The contact number shall be informed via email later.

The candidates are not supposed to contact the numbers allotted before/after the

allotted time slot and no such activity will be entertained/ appreciated.

Technical Requirements for online Examination

• A PC/ Laptop

• Webcam.

NOTE: Webcam is a must for attending the online examination and without it, no

candidate can allow to attend the online examination. This will also cancel their

candidature in ISO.

• Internet connection with reasonable speed

• ‘Zoom Client for Meeting’ (software) preinstalled and configured in the PC/Laptop. Follow the instructions below to configure it correctly.

‘Zoom’ is software for video conferencing and it is through this software, the online Examination

is conducted. The software can be downloaded for free and it is a must have to attend the online

examination.

Carefully follow the instructions below to correctly set up your computer with “Zoom Client for meeting”.

IMPORTANT: STEPS 1- STEP 4 SHOULD BE DONE PRIOR TO THE EXAMINATION.

STEP 1 : Download and install the software (Zoom Client for Meeting) from the link below.

STEP 2 : After you finish installing Zoom (the software), launch it. Now the following window

will pop up. Click On “ Sign In”

Sign Up/ Register an account in it using your Google/ Facebook/ Email Account.

Signing Up using Facebook/Google is much easier. (Any method is accepted)

After creating your account, log in to your account. Now you will have the following screen. Click

on “JOIN”

Now you will have the following window asking for a ‘Meeting ID or Meeting Room Name’.

Now you are all set for attending International Space Olympiad Online Prelims.

NOTE: “The Meeting ID or Meeting Room Name” will be provided from

the ISO Examination Facilitator to whom you would be connected via

phone. (ONLY AT THE TIME OF EXAMINATION)

We are glad to inform you that ISO is announcing an official Online Training Program to help you

perform better in the Preliminary Level competition. The training programs are designed as online video conferencing sessions with the experts in the field of Space Science.

The schedule and timings of training are as follows.

The classes are designed for ISO preliminary exam. The topics that will be discussed in the class is based on the ISO syllabus. There will be question and answer discussion, deep discussions on
