The UK education systemIn the UK, students normally take A levels before starting their Bachelors (or undergraduate) degree, which usually lasts three or four years. Our Foundation Certificate courses are also a recognised qualification for entry to a Bachelors degree, and are specially designed for international students.

Some university graduates then study for a Masters (or postgraduate) degree, which usually lasts one year. Our Pre-Masters courses bridge the gap between your existing university credit and the level needed for entry to a postgraduate degree.

Please note that all students become a member of one of York’s residential colleges during their pathway course and degree. A college fee of £10 per year (up to a maximum of £30 for a course lasting three years or more) is payable by all students.
