SUBJECT: Sectional Intermediate Head Kits

On Parts Bulletin 86-13 I discussed the new Intermediate Head Kit that we have developed as a service tool for you the agents. Unfortunately I forgot to mention that this kit is for the 60" boilers ONLY.

We are working on developing this same kind of kit for the other models and are presently working on the 78" and will proceed with the 96" and 48" in the very near future.

It appears that some of you are ali ttl e skepti ca 1 about tryi ng thi s new product. To hel p you make a deci si on to buy the fi rst one, I am pleased to announce that each agent 1 ocati on wi 11 be all owed to purchase one of these kits for a price of $100.00. SUBJECT: Sectional Inter­mediate Head Kit

At the Sal es I~eeti ng in Oconomowoc we announced a kit whi ch can be used to reinsulate the intermediate head without removing the head. This kit is now available for immediate delivery.

The kit consists of: - Four precast sections, - The necessary hardware for fastening the sections, - The required insulation to allow for expansion of the unit.

The secti ons are rei nforced with wi re mesh so that if they shoul d crack they wi 11 not fa 11 out of the head.

The part number for the kit is 880-360 and has a net cost of $200.00 per unit, with a list price of $345.00.

The kits are now available for immediate delivery. We will be shipping via truck only at thi s time. Due to the shape and potenti a 1 damage of these items, we are using a skid to protect the shipment.

SUBJECT: Rear Door Refractory

Effective 10/15/86 the lower half of all Firetube rear doors with the exception of Ohio Special two pass doors will be constructed using Cleaver­Cast refractory material.

This material is stronger, contains less water and includes fibers to release entrapped water.

This material requires a form to provide the shape and CAN NOT be hand formed and must be vibrated.

Our goal in using this material is to improve the overall quality of our rear door refractory in terms of longer life and the reduction of cracking due to steam generation within the material.

The Firetube Service Department requests comments from the field. We would appreciate your advice regarding condition of refractory at start-up and after the boiler is opened for annual inspection or any other reason.
