IOF Mountain Bike Orienteering Clinic

in Brasília - Brazil

Target group

This Map Makers and Organisers’ Clinic is organised for the education and recruitment of new map makers and organisers / course planners / controllers in MTB orienteering.

It is open to all national orienteering federations in South America.

The clinic is divided into two different subjects: 1 mapping for MTBO (26 – 28 Nov) 2 event control and course planning (29 Nov – 2 Dec)

We expect participants to have some experience as map makers, event controllers, course planners or course controllers in other disciplines, such as FootO. The main objective of this clinic is to start MTBO in Brazil and other South American countries. The clinic language is Portuguese with translation to Spanish.

COURSES CONTENT

Map Making

- IOF MTBO events, type of races and their criteria, level of mapping - ISMTBOM 2010 - Fieldwork for MTBO - Practical sessions in the terrain

Controlling and Course Planning

- The mission of an MTBO Controller - Nature and each format of MTBO (long, middle, sprint, mass start and relay) - IOF rules and requirements for international competitions - Course planning for each format of MTBO - Differences between MTBO and other orienteering disciplines

This material is available at the IOF website www.orienteering.org and must be read through beforehand.

Registration and Fees

First of all: Check with your federation if they endorse your participation.

Registration should be through IOF Member Federations by e-mail to secretaria@cbo.org.br or preside.cbo@gmail.com. Please use the registration form that is available on the IOF Webpage. The registration should include the following information for each participant:

Summary of event organising experience (map making, course setting, event director etc.)

Deadline 1: With accommodation booking: 30th October 2018 Deadline 2: Without accommodation booking: 16th November 2018 The participation fee per person is equivalent to 30 US Dollars per subject or 60 US Dollars for the whole clinic. The amount must be paid at the time of registration to the Brazilian Orienteering Federation. The participation fee covers:

1) Clinic participation 2) Accommodation in a collective room with common bathroom. If you prefer

staying in a hotel you must book yourself. 3) Local transport from accommodation to clinic venues.

The participation fee does not cover any kind of meal.
