UPCOMING EVENTSØya Festivalen 9th-12th AugustOne of Oslo's largest music festivals with a line-up that always includes big international names, promising newcomers and everything in between. Nature and culture meet in the festival area in Tøyenparken for four days of concerts, food, stalls and activities. On the night before the festival, Øya has a club night with lots of concerts at clubs and indoor venues in the city

You will find practically every genre represented at Oslo Jazz Festival, from ragtime to rap via main styles swing, bop and modern electric and acoustic forms. Oslo Jazz Festival was held for the first time in 1986, and presents about 80 events every year. After 30 years the festival has built a strong reputation among performers, their agencies and audiences alike for being a warm and professionally executed festival.

MAJOR EVENTS / FESTIVALSThe Norway Cup, Ekebergsletta, 30 July – 5th AugustThe largest football tournament in the world kicks off at Ekebergsletta. An international football tournament for children and youth ages 6-19, organised by Bækkelagets Sportsklubb. The Norway Cup has been an annual event since 1972, and is one of the largest tournaments of its kind in the world, with 1,600 teams and 30,000 players from all parts of the globe. In addition to around 6000 football matches the event offers a fun fair, concerts, miniature golf, a celebrity football match and lots of fun competitions. EXHIBITIONSQueen Sonja’s “KunstStall”The newly opened exhibition center for Queen Sonja is located in a refurbished stall in the grounds of the palace. An area not previously open to the public. The building was in fact a present to her from the king for her 80th birthday. In addition, 166 Norwegian graphic artists have donated works, resulting in an extensive and varied collection for the first exhibition. There is also featured a collection film and photographs from Queen Maud (1869-1938) who was a keen photographer. The result is a unique documentation of the royal family. Ekeberg Sculpture ParkThe sculpture and national heritage park offers a strong international art collection surrounded by beautiful scenery with many spectacular lookout points. Ekebergparken is always open, and is free to visit.NOTE: A new sculpture has now been placed in the park. Dilemma shows a six-year-old boy standing on the edge of a diving board overlooking the Oslo fjord. Made by the Danish-Norwegian duo Elmgreen & Dragset. This is the parks’ 37th sculpture. Enjoy the museum (entrance fee) and a small art and design shop. Public guided tours during the summer season. Guided tours in the James Turrell's light installation Skyspace/Ganzfeld every Sunday throughout the year starting every half hour. Hakkespettene (The Woodpeckers) Kids' Club has its own clubhouse, and offers activities based on the park's diverse scenery, history and art.Address: Kongsveien 23Ph

CONCERTSH.M. King’s Guard: Parade, Wednesday – Friday throughout August at 13:00Enjoy free music in the streets of Oslo as the H.M. King's Guard marches from Akershus Fortress to The Royal Palace in connection with the changing of the guards. The parade starts from the fortress main entrance and follows Kirkegata up to Karl Johans gate. It then continues up Oslo's main street to the palace. Note that the schedule may be subject to change. Weather permitting.

Mustaine left Metallica in 1983 and started Megadeth, who debuted two years later with the album, Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good! They became leading figures in trash-metal in the 80s. Megadeth’s 15th album, Dystopia, came out in 2016. Last year the band played at the Tons of Rock festival in Halden, Norway. Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Herr Nilsen, 3rd August at 21:00The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band hails from the mountains in Indiana, and plays a unique blend of delta blues, country, rock and hillbilly. All concerts start at 2 pm. Tickets are sold at the museum starting at noon the day of the concert. The ticket includes entrance to the museum. Summer Concerts in Drøbak with the International Ensemble, Saturdays at 12:00Drøbak Church will host a series of summer concerts each Saturday throughout July. The Opera Ferry – Carmina Burana, Oscarsborg Fortress, 11th and 12th August at 18:00The traditional ferry boat Huldra – The Oscarsborg ferry – takes you on a roundtrip with spectacular views of the Oslo fjord. At the Oscarsborg fortress you will enjoy a fantastic production of the classic work of Carl Orff, Carmina Burana, directed by Erik Ulfsby and conducted by David Maiwald. The park has more than 30 fun attractions and lots of great games, shops and places to eat and features attractions for all ages, including large and small rollercoasters, carousels, a log ride and much more. Barnas Fryd and Frydskogen are packed with rides and activities for small kids. In summer, you can enjoy BadeFryd, a water park with a swimming pool, a swimming river and a huge slide.

Oslo SummerparkWould you like to swing through the trees, challenge yourself away from the ground, and experience Oslo at its best? Then you must try the beautifully situated Climbing Park one of Scandinavia’s biggest and best rope courses. The Climbing Park offers activities suitable to everyone above the age of three. Oslo Ghost Walk, Starting at Christiania Torv, Wednesday’s throughout August at 19:00Oslo is more than 1000 years old, and its history is filled with horrifying stories, ranging from the time of the Vikings to bloody battles between our neighbouring countries. Many joyful and happy events have taken place here as well. Some of these old, historic events have left hidden and mysterious traces. And some of the souls of the old times may very well still be here, waiting, lingering. The walk takes you on a historic and at times creepy walk through the streets of old Christiania and Akershus fortress. Guide in English and lasts between 1,5 – 2 hours.
