Candle Light Vigil for The International Day of the Girlon Friday, October 11, 2013 at 6PM at

Bear Creek Park 13750 88 Avenue, Surrey, BC V3W 2L1

The International Day of the Girl was formally declared as a day to promote female rightsby the United Nations in 2011. The declaration of this day was a Canadian initiative andresolution. This candle light vigil will be held to honour those girls whose lives were lostdue to injustices and gender inequality issues. Globally and locally, females have been

made victims of honour killings, female feticide, societal discrimination, culturalattitudes, and familial issues. The deaths of these girls and women have simply occurreddue to the fact that they were born as females in male-dominated societies. Let us come

together to honour those lives that have been lost and to advocate human equality.
