International Foundation Year – Health Science Progression Options for Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing Degree programmes with DIFC Medicine/Dentistry/Nursing Pathways Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Dublin Campus In 2005, RCSI approved the NCUK IFY Health Science programme at DIFC for entry to their 6 year Medical Degree Program for international students. In the past few years over 80 students have been placed in RCSI for the 6 year Medicine Degree program. These students obtained places as long as they achieved the minimum requirements. However, demand for places in RCSI has increased dramatically and number of places has not increased. This means from September 2019, it will be more difficult to obtain a place in RCSI. Entry requirements: Minimum of 3 x A* grades and EAP A/ B grade in the IFY exams. Personal statement plus References and life experience, i.e. work / life balance, extracurricular activities, relevant work or voluntary experience Foundation predicted grades & Succesful interview With limited number of seats available, final entry requirements will be set by RCSI admissions board Tuition fees: Medicine fees are 53,000 per year. Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI) – Bahrain Campus RCSI, Bahrain offer the same 6 year Medicine program that is also offered at RCSI Dublin but more places are available for students. The programme is recognised for scholarship by MOHE in the UAE and Kuwait. Students will do their clinical training at King Hamad University Hospital which is located right beside the RCSI, Bahrain Campus. Entry requirements:

• Have 12 years high school • 4 AS levels and have graduated with 12 years of school • International Baccalaureate –have graduation diploma from high school, GPA

above 90% • Malaysian SPM as long as student has 12 years of schooling • American High School Diploma average GPA 90% • Minimum of 3 x A grades and an EAP grade B in IFY exams. • Personal statement • Foundation predicted grades & Successful interview • References and life experience, i.e. work / life balance, extracurricular activities,

University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Located in the North West of England the School of Medicine at UCLan offers students a five year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program that is undergoing quality assurance with the General Medical Council in the UK. Students on the UCLan MBBS program will take up their placements at regional NHS Trusts Entry requirements:

• Grades of AAB inclusive of A in chemistry and a EAP grade B in IFY Exams. • Work experience comprising of a minimum of 2 weeks clinical work shadowing(75

hours) or 6 months volunteering • Personal statement plus transferable skills statement • Foundation predicted grades & Successful shortlisting to Mulit Mini Interview and

passing interview

St. George’s University of London St. George’s University London approved the NCUK IFY Health Science programme at DIFC in December 2011 for entry to their 6 year Medical Degree program. This programme will have a UK General Medical Council Accredited Primary Medical Qualification which will allow graduates to practice where that is accepted. Entry requirements:

• Minimum 4 x A grades in the IFY exams • UKCAT test (students must have completed UKCAT before commencing IFY) • Minimum entry requirments in high school grades, average A/Bs including maths

and science subjects • Work experience comprising of a minimum of 2 weeks clinical work shadowing(75

hours) or 6 months volunteering • Foundation predicted grades & Successful shortlisting to Mulit Mini Interview and

passing interview

Notes: a) SGUL will consider high school (level 2) qualifications as well as foundation. b) SGUL do not accept students who have already sat A-levels / IB prior to the foundation

The five-year Dentistry degree comprises integrated compulsory scientific, technical and clinical teaching units. Year one provides a scientific grounding and introduces personal and professional development. Clinical skills training and patient contact occur in year two. In year three you can choose to intercalate in a science subject to obtain an Honours BA or BSc. At the end of year four you will undertake dental-related research, an audit, or supervised clinical activity in the UK or abroad.

University of Bradford

The University of Bradford and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust have partnered to establish an off-site nursing school and degree programme at Dewsbury and District Hospital. The school aims to boost nursing recruitment for the Trust and widen degree course participation in the local area by offering our existing pre-registration BSc (Hons) Nursing programme in Adult Nursing.

Clinical practice experience makes up 50% of time on this three year programme. Students will gain a variety of experience within the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
