Infinity Freediving was established in 2014 by Cypriot freediving athletes. Since 2017 we are based in the city of Larnaka and our mission is to promote the sport of freediving on the island through various events, seminars, educational courses, supervised training sessions and International Competitions.

Since 2014 we have organized 4 International Depth and Pool Competitions with great success and have managed to attract a number of International athletes that visit the island regularly to undergo their training in Cyprus’s various sea locations.

Being freediving athletes and freediving instructors we have the experience and knowledge required to organize safe and successful competitions.

The Infinity Depth Games 4 is an annual International Depth Competition that will take place in the coastal area of Larnaka during the dates 14-21 October 2018.

This is a unique extreme sports competition that involves athletes depth diving into the sea on one breath. This sort of competition is very popular in many other European countries and is thus becoming a well known extreme sport in the last few years.

The competition will have 3 Competition days and athletes will be allowed to choose from the 3 depth disciplines. (CWT, FIM, CNF)

During the 3 Competition days, each athlete can compete once a day in any discipline of their choice.

DEPTH COMPETITION - THE 3 DISCIPLINES (CATEGORIES)

Σταθερα Βαρη Με ΠεΔΙΛα(CWT) COnSTAnT wEIGhT

The freediver descends and ascends with the use of fins/monofin and/or with the use of his arms. Pulling on the rope or changing his ballast will result in disqualification; only a single hold of the rope is allowed in order to turn and stop the descent and start the ascent. Constant weight is the most widely practiced and known sportive depth discipline of freediving due to the specific fins or monofins used in it.

εΛεύθερη ΒύθΙΣη(FIM) FREE IMMERSIOn

The freediver dives under water without the use of propulsion equipment (fins) but uses the rope to pull to descend and ascend. Free immersion is the most relaxing discipline and is used as a training tool to learn equalisaton techniques. Athletes may experience the most enjoyable sensations in FIM because of the speed of the water over the body and the power of each pull on the rope as the only means of propulsion.

Σταθερα Βαρη ΧΩρΙΣ ΠεΔΙΛα(CNF) COnSTAnT nO FInS

The freediver descends and ascends underwater using a variation of breastroke swimming stroke without the use of propulsion equipment and without pulling on the rope. Constant weight without fins is the most difficult sportive depth discipline because it requires the most strength and the diver is unaided by fins.

WHY CYPRUS? THE ULTIMATE RESORT DESTINATION

Blessed with all the elements that make a diver’s paradise, Cyprus attracts visitors from all over the world for its favourable weather conditions, top-ranking wrecks and diverse marine life. With warm waters that range from 17-29 degrees almost all-year-round, crystal clear waters, the island enjoys one of the longest diving seasons in the Mediterranean, further enhanced by fantastic up to 40 meters underwater visibility - thanks to an absence of plankton.

A range of wrecks, spectacular underwater caves and tunnels, and interesting paths await exploration – always with the promise of discovering something unique, from the remains of ancient amphora and stone anchors, to the exotic residents of their underwater worlds.

LARNAKAFOR SEA AND SUN LOvERS

Beautifully compact, easily accessible and truly authentic, Larnaka is Cyprus’ oldest soul; the longest continually inhabited region of the island, with a history that dates back 10,000 years, and the most centrally positioned, offering easy access to other regions.

The defining features of Larnaka city include the bustling promenade of Foinikoudes - which is lined with mature palm trees and flanked by beach, eateries and entertainment - and its joining sea walkway of Piale Pasha, which passes by quaint old neighbourhoods and fresh fish taverns. Piale Pasha is the area where all athletes will be staying so they can walk the promenade, relax on the beach and visit one of the largest underwater wrecks in the area the Zenobia wreck, nicknamed ‘The Titanic of the Mediterranean’.

Crystal blue waters all year round. Sea temperature reaching 29 degrees in the summer and a minimum of 17 degrees during winter, Larnaka may be regarded as one of the most interesting destinations for freedivers.

Although Cyprus’ official language is Greek, 90% of the population speak English fluently since Cyprus is a member of the Commonwealth.
