Our alumniEric Go studied hospitality at TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute and is now the proud owner of three Australian themed restaurants in Surabaya, Indonesia. Eric is a strong advocate for the value of training and continues to pass on knowledge he acquired at Sydney Institute to his own staff.

Eric says that studying at Sydney Institute allowed him to work with people from different nationalities and experience their culture and community. It also taught him to be polite, professional, precise, effective, efficient, resourceful, useful to others, independent, mature and allowed him to be a better person.

His Excellency Mr Greg Moriarty, Australian Ambassador for the

Republic of Indonesia opening Eric Go’s third restaurant in Surabaya.

Charlotte came to TAFE as a French international student. Having excelled in her studies and successfully completed the Advanced Diploma of Interior Design, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Design (Interior Design), the first degree course offered at TAFE NSW.

Charlotte has also been a very active member of the TAFE community working with fellow students on a wide variety of design awards and projects. She is a past President of the Student Association and currently works as the Student Services Officer at the Enmore campus.

This was a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and to gain industry

experience through the design internship program that we undertook as part of the degree course. I’m excited about being one of the first graduates from TAFE’s first bachelor degree and feel the diploma studies really set me up for the challenge.

Bachelor of Applied Finance (Financial Planning)Building on the success of our Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs, the degree aims to equip students for practice as successful financial industry professionals. Graduates of this degree will be in a strong position to build relationships with clients, think problems through to provide solutions and integrate theoretical and practical knowledge to suit the requirements of this complex industry. The three-year degree is structured to provide a professional qualification including an internship which allows students to put their theory into practice. The course will equip students with the skills and knowledge to confidently, ethically, and effectively deliver advice and solutions. As a graduate of this degree you could become a financial planner, para-planner, investment advisor, client relationship manager, business investment analyst, financial analyst or an institutional banking analyst.

Bachelor of 3D Art and AnimationThis degree aims to develop highly creative, technically skilled 3D design professionals. The three-year degree is structured to provide students with the creative, technical, analytical and communication tools needed to pursue and sustain a professional career in 3D art and animation. You will be ready for the exciting world of 3D art and animation, with the skills needed to work right across the production landscape at the highest creative level. As a graduate of this degree you could pursue a career in visual media fields as feature filmmaking, game design and development, television, online content development and advertising.

Bachelor of Design (Interior Design)This career-focused higher education program combines the practical and theoretical aspects of design. It offers a diverse educational experience, exploring the scope of international creative design practice. It will allow you to focus on both residential and commercial interior design, such as the design of office spaces, retail environments, bars, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, museums and exhibition spaces. Throughout the degree students will learn how to combine their technical knowledge with creative vision as well as how to work with clients and other design professionals to develop design solutions that are safe, functional, attractive and fit-for-purpose. Studies will be framed within the realm of environmentally sustainable, ethically and socially responsible professional design practice.

I definitely recommend coming to TAFE. It is good quality; the learning is interactive, efficient, useful, factual, case studies, up-to-date including news

and politics. My assessments were manageable with realistic time frames and there is great support and structure with help at hand.

I came to Australia for quality education and completed a Diploma in Management at Sydney Institute. I then gained over a semester of

credits for my degree program at the University of Wollongong. I have just completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Management, and am now planning to study a Masters of Supply Chain and Logistics Management. I would definitely recommend studying at Sydney Institute, even more so now they offer degrees.

When I finish my Advanced Diploma of Marketing I am hoping to go to France to get a job and learn another language. I hope with the skills I

have gained from my marketing and English courses will assist me in getting a job. Back in Brazil, my course and the fact I have studied overseas, will be highly recognised by employers. I would definitely recommend Sydney Institute to others – it is a little more expensive than other Colleges but the teachers are very committed and the quality of training is excellent.

My study at Sydney Institute will help me because I have improved my English but the best thing of all is that I have developed my

skills for working in the tourism industry. Having studied overseas will definitely make me more employable in Chile. When I return to Chile I will use my new qualification to look for a job in a tourism company including the skills I have learnt for working in an office.

My studies are definitely giving me the skills and understanding to plan for my future – I always wanted to be a Graphic Designer. I would

definitely recommend TAFE because of the quality – the teachers are great – they know what they are doing. The biggest surprise has been the cultural diversity – I expected to have a group of Asian friends but I hang out with everyone and my best friend is Greek. I love exploring other cultures.

Australia is a great country and Sydney is a beautiful city. It is more than I expected – the teaching is very advanced. My business

diploma includes marketing strategies which are just like the real world. Study here is much more practical, professional and directly related to the industry. Studying in Sydney is definitely worthwhile – it’s the place to be, and safe too.
