Kharkiv, 11–13 April 2017

Ukrainian DOCOMOMO Chapter and Kharkiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture hold the third conference in the «Learning and protection of the heritage of Ukrainian modernism» series, dedicated to innovations that Modern Movement has made in the theory and practice of urban development. The Conference will consider the specifics of these experiments in the East of the continent, where the most profound social and economic changes have appeared.

AIM OF THE CONFERENCE — is to concentrate efforts of architects, scientists, cultural community, state and local authorities on the study and protection of the valuable urban heritage of the twentieth century. Particular attention will be focused on the scientific sense and the legal status of the «monument of urban development» category and especially on its application to modern objects.

The conference is held under the aegis of DOCOMOMO International — the international non-governmental organization that deals with documentation and protection of the Modern Movement monuments all over the world.

Ukraine has become a DOCOMOMO member in 2012.
