trial in the District Court of Negara. According to Setiajaya, the arrest was undertaken by police for the sake of law enforcement and in response to the public report on the rampant dredging of sea sand at Pekutatan. “Having been checked to location, there was indeed sea sand dredging at Pekutatan. We take action to back up the Regional Regulation,” explained Setiajaya.

Meanwhile, the truck owner, I Wayan Mulya from Dangin Pangkung Hamlet, Pekutatan, was also secured last Wednesday.

They infringed the Regional Regu-lation No. 4/2003 and circular of Jembrana Regent No. 600/400/PULH dated March 10, 2006 concerning with taxation crime of the taking and processing of class C excavation as well as prohibition of sea sand tak-ing. Furthermore, the sea sand ordered for building material would be sold to Biluk Poh Hamlet, Tegal Cangkring Village, Jembrana. As planned, the 2.5 cubic meters of sea sand from Pekutatan would be sold at IDR 750,000.

Denpasar (Bali Post) –Dengue is an infected illness due to

a virus and spread through a mosquito which became endemic not only in Bali but the whole Indonesia. Even so, with 4 million people in this island, Bali has the highest number in Dengue sufferers over Jakarta last year 2010. Head of Bali Health Agency, dr. Nyo-man Sutedja, MPH, when contacted last Wednesday (21/9), stated the death caused by the illness reached 0.27 percent or 34 people. Compared to 2011, 2010’s dengue sufferers were way more up to 12,574. Until July 2011, the total reached 2,528 people with 4 or 0.16 percent died compared to 2009’s 5,810 sufferers and 9 or 0.15 percent people died.

The high total on 2010 was sus-pected due to the many paramedic diagnose stating patients with high temperature suffers dengue. Besides that patients early awareness of den-gue gives early diagnose as well so it

didn’t cause any casualties. Dengue treatments are not only by

medicines but also through preven-tion such as a place’s hygiene and strengthen body immunity. Dengue can be prevented by destroying the mosquito that brought it, Aedes aegypti, that likes to breed on clear waters. The 3M act has to be done: menguras (clearing), menutup (cover-ing) and mengubur (burying) places

plus placing ABT salt on water places including holy water places.

Meanwhile Head of Sanglah Hos-pital Medication Service for Non Hospitalised Treatment, dr. Ken Wirasandhi, stated a while ago that the dengue case last year in Sanglah was high reaching 5,662 people while in 2011 so far 996 people. The high number could be caused due to the long rainy season with little dry season which supports dengue vector to breed while this year is an opposite.

The drought overwhelmingTabanan is progressively dis-turbing the farmers. Sadly, theyare even engulfed by droughtafter the establishment of Te-laga Tunjung Dam at TimpagVillage, Tabanan. Before thisinfrastructure existed, the areanever faced any drought. “Weare also surprised, when thedam has been established theirrigation to rice field even

drought is getting worse,” saidDeputy Chief of Subak BantasBale Agung Kelod, East Selema-deg, Guru Subagia, Wednesday(Sep 21).

Before the dam existed, heexplained, the irrigation to rice

now, it completely dries up,” hecomplained. The circumstancesinvited a question among thefarmers. Moreover, the subakwas located adjacent to the dam. They worried, the dam evenharmed and there was an issueemerging if water of the damwas taken up by MunicipalityWaterworks (PDAM) for sale.

The drought engulfing thefarmers has lasted for 2.5months. However, there is noindication if the water will berunning. Ideally, farmers shouldhave started planting rice but

-cultivated and dry out as thereis no irrigation water. So far, they only rely on the water sup-plies from the dam and rainfall.Since the farmers are unable to

job. One of them is becoming aconstruction worker and otherblue-collar worker. The wetlandarea in the local subak reaches112 hectares and it is cultivatedby 400 farmers. Of this amount, almost the entire land is plantedwith rice. Therefore, when the

drought strikes local farmersare unable to do much. Theyall allow their farmland to dry.If the water supply continues

ascertained to lose their liveli-hood, including foodstuff.

Farmers hoped the TelagaTunjung Dam being proud couldgive a hope. Moreover, the damwas able to accommodate alarge amount of water. Besides, farmers deplored if the waterof the dam was also enjoyed bythe Municipality Waterworksbecause during the dry seasonthe water was very much neededfor irrigation. The Telaga Tun-jung Dam had been operatingfor about three years. Since then

Lack of water also diminishesthe productivity of crops. Byand large, one hectare can yieldup to 7 tons of grain. However, since the water supply runs ab-normally, the yield of farmersdeclines to 3 tons per hectarewhereas the cost of growing riceis quite expensive.

Luckily, in the dry season, thewater supplies served by PDAMrun normally. On that account,

clean water. “What we need is

does not work,” he said. Sincethere was no irrigation water, all

dry, even farmers could sleepon it. The drought was not onlycomplained by farmers at BantasVillage. Thousands of agricul-tural land in Tabanan faced watercrisis. Meanwhile, the TabananAgricultural and HorticulturalAgency could only advise farm-ers to change their croppingpattern from rice to crops. (udi)

Obama attempted to reassert his credentials as a world statesman in an address inside the cavernous U.N. General Assembly hall even as he grappled with high unemploy-ment and low poll numbers at home that threaten his re-election bid.

His high-profile foray into for-eign policy challenges was domi-nated by efforts to head off a Pales-tinian plan to seek U.N. recognition of statehood, a move that could erode U.S. global standing and further isolate close ally Israel.

Obama’s last-ditch diplomatic drive won praise from Israel, which will rely on Washington to block the Palestinian U.N. membership bid in the Security Council, but the Palestinians vowed they would not be deterred.

The president -- whose earlier

peace efforts accomplished little -- insisted that Middle East peace “will not come through statements and resolutions” at the world body and put the onus on the two sides to break a yearlong impasse and return to peace talks.

“There is no short cut to the end of a conflict that has endured for decades,” Obama told an an-nual gathering of world leaders in New York, though he offered no new prescriptions for relaunching negotiations.

Obama finds himself in the quan-dary of opposing a move toward Palestinian self-determination even as he hailed Arab democracy move-ments that have shaken -- or toppled -- authoritarian rulers in Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and Libya.

A senior Palestinian official said

Obama’s stance violated the spirit of the “Arab spring,” and it seemed the best the president could hope for was to slow down the Palestin-ian statehood bid or contain the diplomatic damage it causes.

This comes as Obama’s out-reach to the Muslim world has already been faltering and further underscores the stark new limits of U.S. influence amid Middle East upheaval.

Obama attempted to strike a delicate balance from the U.N. podium. He sought to reassure Palestinians he was not abandoning his pledge to help them end Israeli occupation and achieve eventual statehood while also placating any Israeli concerns about Washington’s commitment to their security.

He was considered unlikely to lean too heavily on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for concessions to the Palestinians, mindful that he cannot afford to alienate Israel’s broad base of sup-port among American voters as he seeks re-election in 2012.

Former TV journalist Shelly Yacimovich has been elected as the new leader of Israel’s Labour party, defeating former union leader Amir Peretz in a run-off.

The 51-year-old Yacimovich secured 56 percent of the vote Wednesday, compared to Peretz’ 46, to take the helm of the ailing party, according to results reported by public radio as only a few votes remained to be tallied.

Peretz conceded defeat and congratulated the new chairwoman, assuring her of his full cooperation.

The once-mighty party, now reduced to eight seats in the 120-member parliament, has been without a chairman since Defence Minister Ehud Barak jumped ship in January to form the centrist Independence movement.

Yitzhak Herzog, a Labour party leader, said the results “revealed that the party was divided and will need to overcome this obstacle and unite in order to regain its status as a significant player on the political scene.”

Tel Aviv-born Yacimovich becomes the sec-ond woman to lead the Labour party after Golda Meir, who held the job from 1969 to 1974.

She benefited from wide support in the media and was endorsed by Israel’s powerful Histradrut trade union federation, scoring her best results in the country’s big cities.

The former journalist has a reputation as a pragmatist and a good debater.

She made her name denouncing social injustices but remained very cautious during her campaigning on major controversial issues such as the nature of an eventual peace deal with the Palestinians.

DUBLIN — Britain said Thursday it will offer compensation payments to the families of Northern Ireland people killed and wounded on Bloody Sunday, a nearly 40-year-old massacre by British paratroopers that fueled Irish Catholic support for the IRA.

Thirteen people were killed and 14 wounded on Jan. 30, 1972, in Lon-donderry when the soldiers opened fire on a Catholic crowd dem-onstrating against Britain’s detention without trial of Irish Republican Army sus-pects. Britain compounded local fury by hastily rul-ing that the soldiers were responding to IRA attacks and targeting gunmen.

Last year, Prime Minis-ter David Cameron apolo-gized after a 12-year probe ruled that the soldiers fired without justification on unarmed civilians — many of whom were fleeing or aiding wounded — and were solely responsible for the carnage.

Britain’s Defense Min-istry confirmed Thursday it has written to lawyers rep-resenting the Londonderry victims’ families seeking terms for financial pay-ments. It offered no details

of potential payouts. “We acknowledge the pain felt by these families for nearly 40 years, and that members of the armed forces acted wrongly. For that, the gov-ernment is deeply sorry,” the ministry said in a statement.

But some families immediately re-jected any offer of financial compensa-tion, stressing that they want criminal prosecutions of those who opened fire. Nobody has ever been charged over the 13 killings.

Because of this practically every few days a ceremony of festival of some kind takes place in some Village in Bali. The dedication or inauguration day of a Temple is con-sidered its birth day and celebration always takes place on the same day if the wuku or 210 day calendar is used. When new moon is used then the celebration always happens on new moon or full moon. The day of course can differ the religious celebration of a temple lasts at least one full day with some temple celebrating for three days while the celebration of Besakih temple, the Mother Temple, is never less than 7 days and most of the time it lasts for 11 days, depending on the importance of the occasion.

The celebration is very colorful. The shrine are dressed with pieces of cloths and sometimes with brocade, sail-ings, decorations of carved wood and sometimes painted with gold and Chinese coins, very beautifully arranged, are hung in the four corners of the shrine. In front of shrine are placed red, white or black umbrellas depending which Gods are worshipped in the shrines.

In front of important shrine one sees, besides these umbrellas soars, tridents and other weapons, the “umbul-umbul”, long flags, all these are prerogatives or attributes of Holiness. In front of the Temple gate put up “Penjor”, long bamboo poles, decorated beautifully ornaments of young coconut leaves, rice and other products of the land. Most beautiful to see are the girls in their colorful attire, carrying offerings, arrangements of all kinds fruits and colored cakes, to the Temple. JAKARTA - The cabinet reshuf-fle discourse may have disturbed ministers but the president had bet-ter realize that it is now or never at all so that his ministers can concen-trate on their jobs in the remaining three years, observers say.

“If the president really intends to replace low-performing or prob-lematic ministers, he had better do it immediately because , if not, it will have political implications that will affect his government`s performance,” Arizka Warganegara, political analyst of Lampung Uni-versity (Unila) said in response to the cabinet reshuffle discourse.

Arizka`s view was shared by his political scientist colleague Edi In-drizal of Andalas University in West Sumatra. Edi said that if the presi-dent did not reshuffle the cabinet, it would further worsen his image which had already dropped by an unprecedented figure of late.

“Moreover, the president now has objective reasons to reshuffle his cabinet because there are several ministers whose performance is considered not optimal,” Edi said.

Besides, if the president reshuffles his cabinet, the new ministers will have enough time to carry out their visions and missions in the administration`s remaining three years.

However, the two political ob-servers said that in replacing some of his ministers President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should not base his decision on political con-siderations.

“It would be useless to reshuffle the cabinet if it is based on political considerations, much less if it is based on like and dislike. The new ministers` performance would not be maximal

because the right man was not put in the right place,” said Arizka.

In the meantime, Edi said that if political considerations were taken into account in replacing the minis-ters, it would be hard to expect that an improvement in the ministers` performance could be made in the remaining three years.

He said that political consider-ations for a cabinet reshuffle could be a boomerang for the president because so far the ministers who got more public spotlights were those who came from political parties.

Therefore, now is the time for the president to prove to the public that he was not `held hostage` by political parties and could take a firm step to place professional people for carrying out his vision and missions, Edi said.

He said it was now time for Yud-hoyono to carry out reshuffle be-cause now was the last momentum for him to decide the journey of his leadership. Two years of his second presidential term was enough for him to judge which ministers had to be replaced.

According to Arizka Wargane-gara, the president in replacing his ministers should use a clear and measurable criteria. He must have the courage to ignore political inter-vention from political parties in his coalition and the opposition party.

Besides, the president should place professionals in their respec-tive fields and provide no rooms for personal egoism in the cabinet, thus objectivity would become a means of measuring the composition of the cabinet.

In this case, the Head of State should empower the Presidential Work Unit for Development Su-pervision and Control (UKP4) as

an institution which is able to pro-vide an objective assessment of the government`s performance.

Political observer of the Malang-based University of Muhammadiyah (UMM) Dr Mas`ud Said meanwhile suggested that Yudhoyono should pay attention to three aspects in reshuffling his cabinet.

He said that the three aspects covered ministers who were re-lated to legal problems, who had bad performance and who had bad

health conditions. A minister with legal problem was not good in public opinions while those with bad health conditions would affect work performance.

The new ministers must be more capable than the outgoing ministers they had replaced as otherwise it would invite new public criticisms. “It would not pose any problem if the successor ministers have more capability,” Mas`ud said.

Rizka Negara added that if order

to see incapable ministers their performance should be learned from the assessment and report of the UKP4. He said that at least four ministers should be replaced due to inability to handle the problems of Indonesian migrant workers overseas, judicial mafia cases, un-professional handling of the upcom-ing SEA Games and the failure in the mediation of free trade such as the Chinese Asian Free Trade Area (CAFTA).

The head of state visited the Temple, considered one of the richest archaeological sites on the island of Sumatra, in the company of First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Cul-ture and Tourism Minister Jerwo Wacik, Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono and a number of other ministers, Jambi Governor Hasan Basri Agus, and several local officials.

President Yudhoyono arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day

working visit until Friday, and the visit to Muarojambi Temple is part of his agenda.

According to Wikipedia, the eight temple-like structures appear to be Buddhist, and were probably built around the 14th century.

Archaeologists conclude that the site was the center of Old Jambi, the capital of ancient Malay kingdom which reigned supreme about ten centuries ago.

The capital was sieged and

destroyed in 1377 by armies from Burma, now Myanmar.

For centuries, the site had been lost and forgotten deep in the jun-gle, only to be rediscovered in 1920 by a British military expedition team. Muara Jambi temple complex covers an area of 12 km2, along the side of Batanghari river.

There are eight main temples in the complex, all of them are located in the center area, fortified by walls. Three of them are already renovated.

In 1982, a 32-centimeters tall female bronze statue was found at Koto Kandis, in the Muara Sabak sub district. It is believed to be the goddess Laksmi, holding a lotus bud in her left.

Kare Ikan(Fish Curry)

Ingredients

* 1 1/2 Lb, cleaned weight fish * 6 Shallots or 1 lg Onion * 2 Cloves garlic * 2 ts Ground coriander * 1 ts Ground ginger * 1/2 ts Powdered lemon grass or 1 Blade fresh, lemon grass * 1 ts Chilli powder * 1 Salam leaf or bay-leaf * 1/2 ts Turmeric * 1/2 c Tamarind water * 1 c Of thick santen (coconut -milk) * 2 tb Vegetable oil * Salt * sl Cucumber * Mint

DirectionsIt is better to select a white fish with firm flesh, such

as haddock, angler-fish, swordfish or dogfish. In Australia the various fish known as whiting would be a good choice. Americans might like to use snappers.

Whatever fish is used, it can be cut into small cubes or slices before frying. Heat a little oil in a heavy frying-pan, and carefully brown the fish in it. Meanwhile, in another frying-pan, fry the chopped shallots (or onion) and garlic until tender. Stir in the chilli, ginger, turmeric, coriander, lemon grass, salam, salt and tamarind water. Let this mixture simmer for 10 minutes, then put in the fish. Cover, and simmer for another 10 minutes.

Add the santen and cook for a further 5 minutes. Serve hot, garnished with very thin slices of cucumber and chopped mint. (Alternatively, put the cucumber and mint into the kare itself for the last 2 minutes of cooking.) Incidentally, the same kare can be made with prawns. There is no need to fry the prawns separately; but fry them in the mixture of onion, etcetera for a few minutes before you put in the tamarind water. Makes 4 servings. (http://asiarecipe.com)

“A wise man once said — ‘the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’ We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we’re going to walk away from it,” frontman Michael Stipe said in a statement on the website.

“I hope our fans realize this wasn’t an easy decision; but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way.”

The Grammy-winning group, now composed of Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills, released its debut album “Murmur” in 1983; at the time it was a quartet, with drummer Bill Berry. He left the group in 1997, two years after he suffered symptoms of an aneurysm onstage.

The group got its start in Athens, Ga., coming out of the region’s flourish-ing indie-rock scene. The band was cred-ited for helping launch college radio with songs such as “Radio Free Europe.”

Later, the mainstream caught on, and R.E.M. became chart-topping rockers, selling millions of albums with hits like “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine),” ‘’Losing My Religion” and “Everybody Hurts.”

Stipe, the band’s chief songwriter, crafted songs that were atypical of the standard rock fare. “Man on the Moon” was about the late comic Andy Kaufman. “Losing My Religion” was not about religion at all, but about try-ing to relay the feelings of a crush.

The band’s videos also became staples on MTV in the 1990s, includ-ing the eye-catching “Losing My Religion” and the stark “Everybody Hurts,” which had Stipe walking through a highway traffic jam.

R.E.M. became one of the more forceful voices of 1990s rock, and came along around the same time as another rock quartet — U2. But whereas U2

managed to maintain (and even in-crease) its popularity over the years, R.E.M. stumbled commercially in recent years, and their hits dwindled.

The band continued to create music that resonated with critics and their core group of fans; the group’s last album, “Collapse into Now,” was released in March and a greatest hits retrospective is in the works. But Mills said the band was running out of ideas.

“During our last tour, and while making ‘Collapse Into Now’ and put-ting together this greatest hits retrospec-tive, we started asking ourselves, ‘What next?’” he said. “Working through our music and memories from over three decades was a hell of a journey. We realized that these songs seemed to draw a natural line under the last 31 years of our working together.” Buck said the band parts as “great friends” and thanked fans for their support.

“One of the things that was always so great about being in R.E.M. was the fact that the records and the songs we wrote meant as much to our fans as they did to us,” said Buck. “It was, and still is, important to us to do right by you. Being a part of your lives has been an unbelievable gift. Thank you.”

MIAMI — Miami is the new city of angels — at least the city of “Charlie’s Angels.” ABC is jumping into the reboot game this fall with an updated version of the classic series that kicks off the network’s Thursday night prime-time lineup. Moving its setting and production from Los Angeles to South Florida, the new show gets a fresh start in a new city.

The remake tries to distance itself from the camp of the 1970s version, striving to be a more grounded action series. The first episode begins with two Angels — a former thief played by Rachael Taylor and a disgraced police officer played by Annie Ilonzeh — seeing the third member of their team killed during a mission. Their boss Charlie Townsend and his assistant Bosley — played by Ramon Rodriguez — persuade the survivors to recruit a new Angel, a street racer played by Minka Kelly.

With Drew Barrymore — an Angel in the 2000 and 2003 films — serving as an executive producer, the show was developed by Al Gough and Miles Millar, the duo behind the hit WB show “Smallville,” which followed the exploits of a young, pre-Superman Clark Kent. ABC had been planning to bring back “Charlie’s Angels” for several years when Gough and Millar got involved last spring.

They acknowledge that fans have certain expecta-tions and will scream if they aren’t met. The original “Charlie’s Angels” was a cultural phenomenon when it debuted in 1976, making stars of Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. Fawcett proved particularly popular, with boys posting her iconic poster in their rooms and girls copying her feathered hair. The first episode of the new “Charlie’s Angels” is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. EDT Thursday, the 35th anniversary of the original’s premiere.

NASA’s old research satellite is expected to come crashing down through the atmosphere Friday afternoon, Eastern Time. The space-craft will not be passing over North America then, the space agency said in a statement Wednesday evening.

The predictions should become

more precise by Thursday afternoon and certainly by Friday. “It is still too early to predict the time and location of re-entry with any more certainty,” NASA said.

An estimated 26 pieces — repre-senting 1,200 pounds — are expect-ed to survive. NASA is anticipating a splashdown rather than a landing.

Nearly three-quarters of the world is covered with water. The Aerospace Corporation in California, in fact, predicts that re-entry will occur over the Pacific late Friday afternoon, Eastern Time. But that’s give or take 14 hours.

The 20-year-old Upper Atmo-sphere Research Satellite will be the biggest NASA spacecraft to fall un-controlled from the sky in 32 years.

It is expected to break into more than 100 pieces as it enters the atmosphere, most of it burning up. The heaviest metal parts are ex-pected to reach Earth, the biggest chunk weighing about 300 pounds. The debris could be scattered over an area about 500 miles long.

LOS ANGELES — The Walt Disney Co. has used mobile games to promote its movies, but now it’s trying something new: launching a cuddly character in a game in the hope he makes it to the big screen someday. In a first effort at the new strategy, Disney is launching this week an animated alligator named “Swampy,” whose bizarre quest in the 99-cent iPhone game “Where’s My Water?” is to keep clean.

The reptile, unlike his in-the-

wild counterparts, lives under a big city and mostly hangs around in his bathtub, waiting for iPhone owners to dig a digital trench that allows water to flow into his poorly con-nected plumbing. Disney Mobile general manager Bart Decrem says one goal of the launch is to incubate new characters that can cross over into other Disney business units like movies and merchandise.

“Maybe five years from now, wouldn’t it be great if there was a movie that started up on the

App Store?” Decrem said. He said mobile devices are becoming central

to kids’ lives and Disney wants to

make sure it is there. “To me, this is where a generation of kids is growing up. And it’s really critical for the success of the company that we be there and telling stories and introducing characters to a new generation of kids,” he said.

Disney’s interactive unit has long been a troubled one. Expensive forays into making video games for consoles such as the Xbox and PlayStation 3 have resulted in big losses.

In the most recent quarter through July, Disney’s interactive unit lost $86 million on revenue that grew 27 percent from a year earlier to $251 million. That marked the 11th con-secutive quarterly loss since Disney began breaking out results for the

unit in late 2008.Analysts have questioned

what Disney is doing in the games business, especially after its $563 million pur-chase of social games maker

Playdom last year didn’t help stem the losses. The unit’s new co-presidents, John Pleasants

and James Pitaro, have made it a goal for interactive to be profitable in 2013.

APPLE plans to unveil its next generation iPhone next month, technology blog AllThingsD said Wednesday. AllThingsD cautioned that Apple could “change its plans anytime,” but said the present plan calls for Apple’s new chief executive Tim Cook to preside over the launch of the iPhone 5 on October 4.

Cook, 50, replaced Apple’s ailing co-founder Steve Jobs as chief executive of the Cupertino, California-based gadget-maker last month. Citing “sources close to the situation,” the Dow Jones-owned AllThingsD said the iPhone 5 would go on sale within a few weeks after the announcement.

Jobs, 56, the Silicon Valley visionary behind the Macintosh computer, the iPod, iPhone and iPad, stepped down as Apple’s CEO on August 24. Jobs has presided over Apple’s splashy product launches in the past and AllThingsD said “the pressure will be on Cook to turn in a good performance.”

“What will be interesting to see, of course, is if Jobs himself will also make an appearance, which is

something that is likely to be determined by his health, in a decision that will be made very close to the event,” it

Vettel made it clear on Thursday, howev-er, that his goal is to make the best possible job this weekend, without thinking about the possible scenarios that would make him a double world champion. “Would, could, should... so far we haven’t won anything,” Vettel said in Singapore on Thursday. “We are in a good position but still have some way to go. We have to race and doing our normal job, try to achieve our best.

“It is one of the most difficult tracks for cars and drivers, it is a long way to the chequered flag. “Obviously a lot of people talk about it, but certain things have to happen. It reminds me of the situation we faced in Abu Dhabi last year, where people came up every two/three minutes giving another option, what is possible out

of 1,147 options.“This could be one, that is not the objec-

tive or target this weekend - the target is to optimise our performance. “Generally out target going into this season was to defend the title. W are in a very good position and there is no reason the target should change. It doesn’t matter when, it matters that it happens.” The world champion said there is no added pressure to clinch the title in Singapore, but admitted he will go for it if he has the chance.

“I think there is always pressure on me and us because we want to achieve our best every single weekend, and achieve our maximum,” he added.

“If there is a possibility or a chance to win we want to go for it. I don’t feel any

extra pressure trying to win the champion-ship here or win it in one particular place. We just have to remind ourselves what the target was going into the season, it was not to win the championship in Singapore, it was to win the championship itself.”

And the German said it was hard to predict who will be strongest this weekend, but he believes the battle with Ferrari and McLaren will be very tight.

“It will be a long weekend, a very long race, it is nearly two hours, longer than the other races we have during the season. Ferrari were competitive last year, we were equally matched but couldn’t get past on the track. Hopefully this year is the other way around.

“On this circuit it’s hard to predict who is going to be competitive. I think we will be fighting McLaren and Ferrari, but Mer-cedes could have a good chance here. It is a circuit where the car is important but the driver can make a difference.”

JORGE Lorenzo believes the reason Honda is defeating Yamaha in this year’s MotoGP title race is because HRC took more risks with its 2011 design.

The reigning champion thinks there were signs in late 2010 that Honda was poised for a breakthrough year, and suggested that its success drought since Nicky Hayden’s 2006 title had led to HRC taking a more aggressive approach than 2008-2010 champion squad Yamaha.

“I think the Honda was extremely fast and very competitive from the last part of last year, and this year even more,” said

Lorenzo. “They improved one step at the end of last year, and one step more by the beginning of this year.

“We won three world titles in a row, all three crowns, so it’s logical that we stayed a little bit more calm and didn’t take so many risks. “Yamaha have won so much and they’ve done a great job, but at this moment in this category [Honda] are a little bit further away at most of the tracks.”

He admitted he feels fortunate that Casey Stoner’s championship lead is not larger than 44 points given how fast Honda has been this year.

Lorenzo managed to interrupt Stoner’s

winning run and claw a few points back with victory at Misano earlier this month, before Honda struck back by dominating the most recent race at Aragon - leaving Stoner in a commanding championship position.

“I think the surprise is to be only 44 points behind Casey,” said Yamaha team leader Lorenzo. “He has dominated the championship and he’s winning a lot of races. To be only 44 points [adrift] is not too bad given how we are this year.”

Lorenzo now feels he needs a mi-raculous turnaround in order to retain his crown. “Our hope is that something happens - hopefully not bad for Casey, but to help us a little bit to keep on fight-ing,” Lorenzo said. “But if this doesn’t happen it’s almost impossible.”
