International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme IB MYP eAssessments As from 2016, external moderation of the MYP personal project is mandatory. The ISUtrecht will register students for MYP eAssessment in all subjects, which will provide students with an internationally recognised IB MYP certificate should they meet the success criteria in these externally monitored assessments. What are eAssessments? The eAssessments are a formal recognition of achievement, provided by the International Baccalaureate, for final year MYP students (grade 10). They form a reliable, globally consistent and highly innovative assessment model that help achieve greater student outcomes and provide greater quality assurance and recognition for IB World Schools. eAssessments are comprised of four components: ePortfolios consist of carefully defined coursework providing a stimulating and structured unit of study, in selected subjects. These are assessed through a dynamic sampling to moderate results to a global standard. On-screen examinations (two hours in duration). These examinations are developed by the IB for selected courses, they focus on deeper levels of understanding, providing an engaging, positive experience for students. eAssessments are an appropriate and natural culmination of a student's time in the MYP. Personal Project is a student-centred and age-appropriate extended project in which students consolidate their learning throughout the programme. This project is assessed through a dynamic sampling to moderate results to a global standard. Service as Action portfolios are submitted displaying students’ services throughout their MYP years. These samplings are moderated to a global standard. Upon successful completion of these components, students will be awarded the IB MYP Validated Certificate. Why should students take part in eAssessments? eAssessments will provide students with an IB MYP Validated Certificate, which will indicate a rigorous and standardized summative assessment. It is perfect for schools and parents who seek external verification of student achievement and for ISUtrecht to track student progress effectively. For MYP students, eAssessments provide a global recognition of expertise, hard work and personal achievement. In addition, it will help students understand the demands of the Diploma Programme (DP) and will allow them to reflect on results and grades as feedback on their learning, and as additional guidance for future subject selection in the DP. We expect that in time regulators, governments and universities will formally recognize the MYP certificate and eAssessments. More than 2,000 candidates from over 60 schools around the world participate; and with eAssessments, ISUtrecht will have the opportunity to consider students' learning against clear standards of achievement for this age group. This will, in turn, inform our teaching practice, using this feedback to determine any gaps in contexts, concepts and/or teaching, enabling the school to adjust accordingly.
