It should be noted that the title refers to the entireelectromagnetic spectrum comprising the colors of the rainbow, including the invisiblefrequenciessuchasradiofrequenciesandthefieldsgeneratedaroundconductingwires.Part1 Fromtheverybeginning…1. CapturedinaBottle 1746sawthe firstdiscoveries involvingelectricity inEurope.Leyden’sexperimentconsistedofrevealingtheelectricfluidbymeansofrubbingthehandonaglassglobespunrapidly on its axis. The static electricity thus produced made a great impression in theschools, fairs and on private personswho had the financialmeans to acquire this device,withsomeproducingelectricalarcsandothersbriefelectricshocks.Thephenomenonwassopopularthatitwasnotsociallyacceptabletosuggestthatelectricitycouldbedangerous,eventhoughtheshockscausedheadaches,nosebleedsandfatigueincertainexperimentersandintheanimalsusedinthetests.Societywastakenoverbyelectromaniaandthemostfervent exponents of being electroshocked in good company between two glasses ofchampagne began to perceive harmful symptoms. In spite of this, the medicalestablishments equipped themselves with the Leyden flask (the forerunner of thecondenser), for the purpose of carrying out medical experiments for abortions or otherapplications.

Inthiswayacompletelynewfieldofknowledgeemergedconcerningthebiologicaleffectsofelectricityonpeople,plantsandanimals–knowledgethatwasthenmuchmoreextensive thanthatofourcontemporaryphysicians,whodaily seepatientssuffering fromtheeffectsofelectricitywithoutrecognizingthemforwhattheyare,andwhoaregenerallyignorantoftheveryexistenceofthisknowledge.

2. TheDeaftoHear,andtheLametoWalk Notingthe–rarelypositive,andfarmoreoftennegative–effectsoftheapplicationofelectricalvoltageonlivingorganisms,theresearchersandphysiciansconcludedthatlivingorganisms function inconjunctionwithelectricity.Certaincureswerebroughtaboutusing

electricity – as for example in 1851, when the neurologist Duchenne treated deafness indozensofpatientsbymeansoflocallyappliedelectricalimpulses.Experimentswerecarriedout–notablybyVolta in Italy, aswell asother researchers in thewesternworld–whichfound evidence that the nervous, cardiac, cardiovascular, gustatory, sudatory and othersystemscouldbestimulatedusingtheelectricityproducedbygalvaniccouples.Itwasfoundthat thenumberof curativeeffectswere significantly fewer than theharmful effects thatwere listed, which include the symptoms of electro-sensitivity (ES) known today, such asheadaches,dizziness,nausea,mentalconfusion,fatigue,depression,insomnia,etc.3. ElectricalSensitivity The French botanist Thomas-François Dalibard – who carried out electricalexperimentsonlivingorganisms–confidedinalettertoBenjaminFranklindated1762thathewasunable tocontinuehisworkashisownorganismhaddevelopedan intolerancetoelectricity. He was one of the first people to be officially declared electro-hypersensitive(EHS).Readingthataccount,it isclearthatthisbotanistmusthavebeenseverelyaffected.Other professors and researchers had the same unfortunate experience and were thusforcedtostoptheirwork.EventhefamousBenjaminFranklinwasaffectedbyaneurologicalillnessduringhisresearchesonelectricityfrom1753onwards,andthesymptomsarelargelyreminiscentofelectro-hypersensitivity.Somuchsothat,at theendofthe18thcentury, itwasgenerallyacknowledgedthatelectricitycouldmakepeopleill,dependingonthesex,themorphology and the physical condition of the individual concerned. It had similarly beenobserved that certain individuals reacted strongly to changes in theweather,whichoftencorrelated with electrical changes in the atmosphere. The names of some of thoseindividuals are still famous today – among them Christopher Columbus, Dante, CharlesDarwin, Benjamin Franklin, Goethe, Victor Hugo, Leonardo da Vinci, Martin Luther,Michelangelo,Mozart,Napoleon,RousseauandVoltaire.4. TheRoadNotTaken During the 1790s, science was faced with an identity crisis regarding theinterpretationandunificationofthefourdifferentfluids–electricity, light,magnetismandheat. Where electricity was concerned, on the one hand there was Luigi Galvani, whoregardedelectricityasanintegralpartofthelivingorganism,andontheotherVolta'stheorythat electricity was only a “secondary” effect of internal chemical reactions in the livingorganism. Volta, the inventor of the extremely useful electric battery, which had thepotentialtobecomeagreatmoney-spinner,succeededinwinningtheargumentagainstthemoreglobalviewoftheinteractionbetweenelectricityandthelivingorganism.5. ChronicElectricalIllness

Fromtheendofthe19thcenturyonwards,urbanlandscapesweretransformedbythe installation of telegraph lines throughout the industrialized countries. This technologyusedvoltagesoftheorderof80voltsonasingleconductor,withthereturncurrentbeingearthed.

That period saw the emergence of the first stray currents to which living beingswereexposed. Itwas then thatonesawtheappearanceofdiseasesof civilization suchasneurasthenia, which afflicted Frank Lloyd Wright and Theodore Roosevelt, among otherwell-knownfigures.Itshouldbenotedinpassingthatneurastheniaisverysimilartoelectro-

hypersensitivity, which is the more modern term for the same sensitivity to electricity.Around half of the telegraphistswhowere employed tomanipulate the electrical currentsentthroughthe lines,andwerethusexposedtoverystrongelectromagnetic fields,wereafflictedbytelegraphicsickness.Onceagain,thesymptomswerethesameasthoseofEHS.Lateron,inaround1915,itwasthetelephoneoperatorswhowereexperiencingthesamesymptoms–fortheywereexposedtoelectromagneticfieldsfromthecommunicationsforhoursonendat theirdesks. In1989, itwasnotedthat inWinnipeg47%of thetelephoneoperatorsweresufferingfromthesamesymptoms. However,in1894,thenotedViennesepsychiatristSigmundFreudwroteanarticlewhoseeffectwasdisastrousforalltheunfortunateswhosufferedfromtelegraphicsickness,neurasthenia,microwavesyndromeorEHS.Ratherthanseeingtheexternalcause‒whichwas electromagnetic pollution – he attributed these symptoms to disordered thoughts orpoorlycontrolledemotions.Asaresult,todaymillionsofcitizensaffectedbyelectronicsmogare beingmedicated instead of reducing their exposure to this pollutant. Sigmund Freudrenamed neurasthenia – which was known to be caused by electricity – as a neurosisanxiety, an anxiety attack or a panic attack. This opened the way for the recklessdeploymentofelectrificationtocontinueunimpeded. ItshouldbenotedthatinRussia,neurastheniaislistedasanenvironmentalillness,asFreud'sdamagingredefinitionwasrejectedthere.6. TheBehaviorofPlants Sir Jagadis Chunder Bose and other researchers conducted numerous electricalexperimentsonplantsandotherlivingorganisms,whoseresultsshoweddefiniteeffects.Hediscovered that the nerves of plants or animals display variable behavior and that theirresistivitycanvaryconsiderably,dependingontheapplicationofthecurrentanditspolarity.He also noted that the intensity of current necessary to modify the conductivity of thenerves is infinitesimal in terms of the voltage applied – something in the order of 0.3microamperes (0.3*10-6). That current is significantly less than the current that is inducedthrough a telephone conversation using a cell phone. Bose likewise discovered that thethresholdofacurrent’sbioactivity is1femtoampere(1*10-15)!Asthisresearcherwasalsofamiliarwithradio-frequencytransmissions,hecarriedoutanexperiment inwhichaplantwasexposedtoaradiosignalof30MHzatadistanceofabout218yards(200meters)andfoundthattheplant'sgrowthwasretardedduringtheemissionperiod.Helikewiseshowedthat the circulation of sap in the plant slowed downwhen itwas irradiated by the sameradiosignal.7. AcuteElectricalIllness During the1880s, Londonwas suppliedwithdirect current, but certainphysicistshaddiscoveredthatthedistributionofalternatingcurrentgeneratedfewerohmiclossesinthewires. There followed abattle of the currents, even thoughmany scientists, includingEdison, stronglycriticized themoredangerouseffectsofalternatingcurrent. Ironically, it’spreciselybecausealternatingcurrentismoreharmfulthatitisusedintheelectricchair.Andaseveryoneknows,theelectricalcurrentofthepowergridis…alternating! In1889,full-scaleelectrificationwascarriedoutintheUSAand,shortlythereafter,inEurope.Thatsameyear,asifbychance,doctorswereinundatedwithcasesofflu,which

had until then appeared only infrequently. The victims’ symptoms were far moreneurological innature, resemblingneurasthenia,anddidnot includerespiratorydisorders.Thepandemiclastedforfouryearsandkilledatleastamillionpeople.

In 2001, Canadian astronomer Ken Tapping showed that the influenza pandemicsoverthepreviousthreecenturiescorrelatedwithpeaksinsolarmagneticactivity,onan11-yearcycle. Ithasalsobeenfoundthatsomeoutbreaksof influenzaspreadoverenormousareasinjustafewdays–afactthatisdifficulttoexplainbycontagionfromonepersontoanother. Also, numerous experiments seeking to prove direct contagion through closecontact,dropletsofmucusorotherprocesseshaveprovedfruitless. From 1933 to the present day, virologists have been unable to present anyexperimentalstudyprovingthatinfluenzaspreadsthroughnormalcontactbetweenpeople.Allattemptstodosohavemetwithfailure.8. MysteryonthelsleofWight In1904,beesbegan todieon the IsleofWight following the installationof radiotransmittersbyMarconi.Thesetransmittersworkatfrequenciesclosetomegahertzlevels. On theother side of theChannel, Jacques-Arsèned'Arsonval showed that “sharpandhooked”electromagneticsignalsarefarmoretoxicthansinusoidalsignals. Thetruthwasthat,afterayearandahalfofexperimentingwithradiotransmittersinfullhealthattheageof22,Marconibegantodevelopfevers.Theseattackscontinuedfortherestofhis life. In1904,whileworkingonsettingupatransmitterpowerfulenoughfortransatlanticcommunications,thesefeversbecamesointensethattheywerethoughttobemalaria. In1905,hemarriedBeatriceO'Brienandafter their honeymoon, they settledontheislandclosetoatransmitter.AssoonasBeatricehadsettledin,shebegantocomplainoftinnitus.Afterthreemonths,shefellillwithseverejaundice.ShehadtoreturntoLondontogivebirthtoababywhoonlylivedforafewweeksanddiedof“unknowncauses.”Duringthesameperiod,Marconispentseveralmonthssufferingfromfeveranddelirium.Between1918and1921,hesufferedsuicidaldepressionwhileworkingonashortwavetransmitter.In1927,whileonhishoneymoonfromhissecondmarriage,hecollapsedwithchestpainandwas diagnosed with serious cardiac disorders. Between 1934 and 1937, while he wasdevelopingmicrowave technology,hehadnineheartattacks– the finalonekillinghimattheageof63. On the same island, at Osborne House, Queen Victoria suffered cerebralhemorrhagesanddiedontheeveningofJanuary22nd1901, justasMarconiwasputtinganewtransmitterintooperationlessthan13milesaway.

In1901therewere“only”twotransmitters,while in1904therewerefour,makingthis island themost irradiated place on the planet, leaving bees no room for survival. In1906,asurveyrevealedthat90%ofthebeeshadcompletelydisappearedfornoapparentreason.Newcolonieswerebroughttotheisland,buttheselikewisediedwithinaweek.

This epidemic spreadacross Englandand thenacross thewesternworld, and thengraduallystabilized,untilthearmiesequippedthemselveswithvarioushigh-poweredradiotransmitters towards the end of the FirstWorldWar – triggering (as we have seen) the

Spanishflupandemicin1918,whichactuallybeganintheUnitedStates,attheNavalRadioSchoolofCambridge,Massachusetts,with400initialcases.Thisepidemicrapidlyspreadto1,127 soldiers at Funston Camp (Kansas), wherewireless connections had been installed.Whatintriguedthedoctorswasthatwhile15%ofthecivilianpopulationweresufferingfromnosebleeds,40%oftheNavysufferedfromthem.Otherbleedingalsooccurred,andathirdofthosewhodieddidsoduetointernalhemorrhagingofthelungsorbrain.Infact,itwasthecompositionofthebloodthathadbeenaltered,asthemeasuredcoagulationtimewasmorethantwiceaslongasnormal.Thesesymptomsareincompatiblewiththeeffectsoftheinfluenzarespiratoryviruses,buttotallyconsistentwiththedevastatingeffectsofelectricity.Anotherincongruitywasthattwo-thirdsofthevictimswerehealthyyoungpeople.Afurtheratypicalflusymptomwasthatthepulseslowedtoratesofbetween36and48,whereasthisis a common result of exposure to electromagnetic fields. In addition, it was possible tosuccessfullytreatsomesuffererswithmassivedosesofcalcium. The military physician Dr George A. Soper testified that the virus was spreadingfaster than the speed of movement of people. Various experiments were conductedattemptingtoinfectsubjectseitherbydirectclosecontactorbyinoculationwithmucusorblood–buttheexperimenterswereunabletodemonstrateanyinfectionbythismeans. Itcanbeseenthateachnewinfluenzapandemiccorrespondstoanewadvanceinelectricaltechnology,suchastheAsianfluof1957-58,followingtheinstallationofapowerfulradarsurveillancesystem,andtheoutbreakofHongKongflufromJuly1968onwards,followingthecommissioningof28militarysatellitesforspacesurveillanceatthealtitudeoftheVanAllenbelts,whichprotectusfromcosmicradiation.9. Earth’sElectricEnvelope Witha core consistingmainlyof iron, the rotatingearth isprimarilyprotectedbythe ionosphere, thentheplasmasphere–delimitedbytheVanAllenradiationbeltsatanaltitude of between 1,000 and 55,000 km – and by its tail: themagnetosphere, which isexposed to solar winds originating from our sun and constitutes a kind of dynamo, acomplex electrical system. The exchanges of electricity between the earth's crust, theatmosphereandeven the ionospherearepermanentand constant. Theyare inadelicatebalance, and a kind of electrical “respiration” of the entire system has allowed life todevelop on our planet, which is charged with negative ions, balanced by the positivelychargedionosphere.Anaverageverticalelectricalfieldoftheorderof130voltspermetercan be observed,with values that can, for example, rise to 4,000 volts permeter duringstorms. In 1953, one of the primary parameters of this electrical oscillation of ourenvironment was discovered, in the form of (Winfried) Schumann’s frequencies, which“respire”at7.83hertz,withharmonicsat14,20,26,32Hz,calledverylowfrequencies(VLF). Itisnowonderthattheorganismslivinginthisenvironmentareimbuedwiththesephysicalvaluesandthat,forexample,ourbrainrhythmsliewithinthesefrequencyranges–suchas thealpha rhythm,which liesbetween8and13Hz.Whileweperceive the visiblefrequencies–rangingfrombluetored–oftheelectromagneticspectrum,someanimalsareable to see other electromagnetic frequencies – such as bees, which can see ultravioletfrequencies,or those salamandersor catfishwhich can see the lowelectrical frequencies,whilesnakesareabletoseetheinfraredfrequencies.

Laboratory experiments on hamsters, for example, showed that reducing thetemperature and shortening the duration of daylight was not enough to put them intohibernation.Similarly,hamstersraised inFaradaycagesrefusedtohibernate,eventhoughthe light and temperatureparameters corresponded to thoseofwinter, until the Faradayprotectionwasremoved.Otherexperimentswereconducted,suchasthatcarriedoutattheMax Plank Institute in 1967 by the physiologist Rütger Wever, using two buried roomswithoutwindowsoroutsidecontact–oneshieldedfromnaturalelectromagneticfields,theother one not. It was shown that in the shielded chamber, the circadian rhythms of thevolunteersbecamedesynchronizedandcouldvarybetween12and65hours,accompaniedbymetabolic disorders, while the subjects in the chamber immersed in the earth's fieldskept a coherent rhythm of around 24 hours and their metabolism continued to functionmorenormally. It hasbeen scientifically demonstrated that a livingorganismneeds tobebathedintheelectromagneticsystemofournaturalenvironmentinordertofunctionwell. Moreoveracupuncture, theancientmethodused inTraditionalChineseMedicine,works by using our own electrical properties and modifying the energy flow of themeridians.Ithasbeenknownforsometime(sincethe1950s)thatthesemeridiansactuallycorrespond to electrical circuits and that the Chinese Qi corresponds to the concept ofelectricity. Thesemeridians serve dual functions: they not only transport information andenergy internally from one organ of the body to another, but also serve as antennas forpickinguptheflowofenvironmentalelectromagneticenergy. Intheearly1970s,atmosphericphysicistsdiscoveredthattheearth'smagneticfieldwassignificantlydisturbedbyhumanelectricalactivity.Byinjectingasignal intospaceandcapturing its echo, it was established that the initial signal had in fact beenmodified bymultiplesofthe60HzpowergridusedinNorthAmerica.

However,thisdiscoverydidnotpreventtheHAARPprojectfrombeing launchedtodeliberatelymodifytheelectromagneticpropertiesofourplanet. Similarly, theVanAllenbelts thatprotectus fromcosmic rayshavealreadybeenalteredbyourelectricalactivity–anditmaybethatthesedoublebeltswereoriginallyonlya single belt which, under the influence of the human emission of electric charges intospace,hasbeendepletedatitscentre.

Satelliteobservationsshowthattheradiationemittedbyhighvoltagelinesoftenhastheeffectofsuppressingthenaturalradiationoflightning.

In lightof this fact, it is logical to conclude that the influenzapandemicsof recent

decadesarelinkedtohumanelectricalactivity.10. PorphyrinsandtheBasisofLife Any transformation of energy in the biological domain involves porphyrins[pigmentsmadeupoffourpyrrolemolecules].Thefactthatournervesareabletofunctionproperly is thanks inpart toporphyrins,whichplaya role inourcellprocesses.Thesearespecialmoleculesthat functionasthe interfacebetweenoxygenand life.Thesemoleculesarehighlyreactiveandinteractwithtoxicmetalsorsyntheticelementsderivedfromoil,andwith electromagnetic fields – which, in excess, cause porphyria, which is more anenvironmentalsensitivitythanadisease.

Dr.WilliamE.Morton'sresearchshowedthat90%ofpeoplewithmultiplechemicalsensitivity(MCS)aredeficientinoneformofporphyrinenzymeoranother,asareelectro-hypersensitiveindividuals–whichmeansthatthetwoformsofsensitivityareonlydifferentmanifestations,withoneandthesamecause.Porphyria,whichwasdiscoveredin1891,afflictsabout10%oftoday’spopulationandfirstappearedatthesametimeasthegeneralelectrificationofthewesternworldfrom1889onwards.

Porphyrinsarecentraltotheeffectsofelectronicsmog,becausetheynotonlycauseEHS,MCSorporphyria, but also cardiovasculardiseases, cancer anddiabetes, as theyareinvolvedinamultitudeofenergeticbiologicalprocesses. In the 1960s, the biologists Allan Frey andWlodzimierz Sedlak showed that ourorganismsdefinitelyhaveabioelectroniccomponent,andthatsomeofourcellssometimesbehave likeconductorsorcapacitorsorsemi-conductors(transistors), likethecomponentsthatwefindinourelectronicdevices.Thisisthecasewithmyelin–thesheaththatcoversournerves–whichcontainsporphyrinbondedtozinc.Shouldenvironmentalpoisonssuchas chemical products or toxic metals affect this equilibrium, the myelin sheath will bedamaged,whichalterstheexcitabilityofthenervesitsurrounds.Theentirenervoussystemthen becomes hyperresponsive to stimuli of all kinds, such as electromagnetic fields. Thesystementersastateofdivergentinstability,theeffectbecomingthecause. Contrarytotheviewthatmitochondriaaretheelementsofourcellsthatproduceenergy,theconceptofthemyelinsheathasbeingonegiantmitochondrionisbeginningtogaincredence. Theconnectionbetweenporphyriaandzincwasdiscoveredinthe1950sbyHenryPeters, at Wisconsin Medical School. Patients suffering from porphyria and neurologicalsymptomswereexcretingagreatdealofzincintheirurine,whichledhimtotheideathatzinc chelationmight improve their condition.Hedid indeed see an improvement, despitethewidespread belief that zinc deficiency is related to those specific disorders. Similarly,certain experiments have shown that zinc chelation improves Alzheimer's disease. AnAustralian medical team demonstrated in autopsies that the brains of patients withAlzheimer'sdiseasecontainedtwiceasmuchzincasthoseofhealthypatients.Part2 …tothepresentday11. IrritableHeart In1980,cardiacarrestinyoungathleteswasrare,withonlyninecasesayear.Fromthen on, cases steadily increased by 10% per year until 1996, when the rate suddenlydoubledto64cases,risingto66inthefollowingyearand76inthelastyearofthestudy.The American medical community could find no explanation for this, while in Europe in2002, German environmental physicians launched an appeal calling for a moratorium onantennas and cell towers, as the waves they were emitting were causing cardiovasculardisorders.ThatwastheFreiburgAppeal. Dr. Samuel Milham, an epidemiologist at the Washington State Department ofHealth, showed through his work that cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer arelargely,ifnotentirely,causedbyelectricity.

Paradoxically,studiesofcholesteroldatingfromtheearly20thcenturydidnotshowthat cholesterol levels correlatedwith ahigher riskof heart disease– contrary towhat iscommonly regardedas factnowadays.A studyofanimalsat thePhiladelphiaZooshowedthat from1916 to1964, cholesterol levels inmammals andbirds increasedbya factorofbetween10and20eventhoughtheirdiethadremainedcompletelyunchanged!Theonlyparameterthathaddramaticallychangedwastheincreaseinradiofrequencies. During the Second World War, a number of soldiers complained of symptomssimilar to those of neurasthenia. It was initially believed, in accordance with Freud’sdoctrine,thatthesesoldiersweresufferingfromanxietyproblems:however,astudyof144caseswasthenconductedbyDr.MandelCohen.Thisstudyrevealedthatthesoldierswereinfactphysiologically lessresistantandsufferedfromirritableheart.Theyhaddifficulty inassimilatingoxygenandhadtobreathetwiceas fastas theircomrades inbetterhealth inorder to get enough oxygen. It emerged that their mitochondria were not functioningefficiently.Intheend,thestudyshowedthatthesesoldierswerehypersensitiveinageneralsense,butparticularlytoelectricity. From the 1950s onwards, scientists in the SovietUnion also observed that radiofrequenciesalteredtheelectrocardiogramsofindividualsexposedtothem,astheymodifiedmitochondrialefficiency. Graphs showing the statistics fordeath rates fromheartdiseasebrokendownbythedegreeofelectrificationoftheAmericanstates in1931and1940arealsoveryexplicitand leave no doubt as to the toxicity of electromagnetic fields for the heart, thusexoneratingcholesterolanddietsdeemedtoohighinfat.12. TheTransformationofDiabetes Thomas Edison, whowas involved in discoveries relating to electrical technologyandwasthereforeexposedtoelectromagneticfieldstoafargreaterextentthanhisfellowcitizens of the time,was diagnosedwith diabetes – a disease thatwas very rare in 1889.Another researcher, Alexander Graham Bell, who worked in the field of telegraphy andinvented the telephone, was known to constantly complain of the symptoms ofneurasthenia,knownasEHStoday.In1915,hetoowasdiagnosedwithdiabetes. In1876,thebookDiseasesofModernLifebyWardRichardsondescribeddiabetesasararemoderndiseasecausedbymentalexhaustionduetooverworkorbyashocktothenervoussystem. Theexcessiveintakeoftoxic,addictivesugarinourmoderndietnaturallyprovidesaconvenientexplanationofwhydiabetes, includingprediabetes,affectsmorethanhalfofallAmericanstoday.However,thisexplanationistoosimplistic. Dr.EvenJoslinshowedthatbetween1900and1917,sugarintakehadincreasedby17%whilemortalityfromdiabeteshaddoubled.Later,in1987,astudyofNativeAmericansshowed radically different rates of death from diabetes, depending on territory, rangingfrom7perthousandintheNorth-Westto380perthousandinArizona!Duringthoseyears,neither lifestyle nor diet could explain such a divergence. One environmental factor,however, can indeed explain such a difference: the electrification of Native Americanreservationsproceededatdifferentpaces,andthoseintheNorth-Westwereonlyelectrified

much later. By contrast, theArizona reservation lies in the immediate vicinity of Phoenix.Moreover, this Native American community had its own power plant and its owntelecommunicationssystem. AnotherexampleisthepopulationofBrazil–amajorsugarproducerforcenturies,where diabetes was still unknown in 1870, after it had already emerged as a disease ofcivilizationinNorthAmerica.Eventoday,Braziliansconsume70kgofrefinedsugarperyearandperperson–morethanNorthAmericans:andyettheystillhavetwoandahalftimesfewercasesofdiabetesthantheUSA.

In Bhutan, diabetes was virtually non-existent until 2002, after which theelectrificationofthecountrybegan.In2004,634newcasesofdiabeteswereannounced,in2005–944, in2006–1,470,and in2007–2,540,with15deaths. In2012, therewere91deaths and diabetes was the eighth leading cause of death in the country, even thoughpeople’sdiethadnotchanged! As we saw in the previous chapter, electronic smog acting on mitochondriapreventstheefficientuseofabsorbedsugar–i.e.thecombustionofsugar.Thesugarwhichcannotbeconvertedintomechanicalenergyisstoredasfatbythebody.

Statistical graphs for diabetes death rates, broken down by the degree ofelectrificationoftheAmericanstates in1931and1940,arealsoveryexplicitand leavenodoubt as to the role played by electromagnetic fields in the appearance of large-scalediabetes,thusexoneratingsugarconsumptiontosomeextent. In1997,therewasa31%increaseinthenumberofcasesofdiabetesintheUnitedStatesinasingleyear,whichpreciselycorrelatedwiththemassintroductionofcellphonesinthecountry.13. CancerandtheStarvationofLife InFebruary2011, theSupremeCourtof ItalyaccusedCardinalRobertoTucci, theoutgoing president of Vatican Radio, of having created a public nuisance by polluting theenvironmentwithradiofrequenciesthroughnegligence.Infact,intheperiodfrom1997to2003, the children livingwithin a 12 km radius of the radio antennas had an eight timeshigher rateof leukemia, lymphomasormyelomas than thosewho lived furtheraway.Thesameheldtrueforadults,witharateseventimeshigher.

TheGermandoctorandprofessorOttoHeinrichWarburg,winneroftheNobelPrizeforMedicine in 1931, showed that cancer is a regression of oxygen-deprived cells,whichdrivesthemtomultiplyanarchically,asinaprimevalworldwhereoxygenwasnotpresenttothe extent that it is today. The initial oxygen deprivation is due to a malfunction of themitochondria–which,aswehave seen, canbecausedbyelectromagnetic fieldsorotherpollutants,suchassmoke,pesticides,foodadditivesandairpollution.Thesameprincipleofcellularoxygendeficiencyappliestodiabetes,whichiswhythereisahigherrateofcancersamongdiabeticsthanintherestofthepopulation.

notedinmammals,varyingfromtwiceto22timesmorebetweenthosedates.

Cancer death statistics show a clear correlation between the electrification ofcountries and cancer rates. For example, in theUSA, the ratewas 6.6per thousand from1841to1850.Itsubsequentlymorethandoubledfrom1851to1860,witharateof14perthousand. The true explanation for this can be found in the mass deployment of thetelegraphin1854. In1914, therewere twodeaths fromcanceramong the63,000NativeAmericanslivinginreserveswithoutelectrification,whileintherestofthecountrythecancermortalityratewas25timeshigher. Between1920and1921,followingthe introductionofthefirstAMradiostations,cancermortalityincreasedbybetween3and10%inwesterncountries. The Swedish researchers Olle Johansson and Orjan Hallberg have shown a clearcorrelation between breast, prostate and lung cancer rates and the exposure of thepopulationtoradiofrequencies.Theypointtoasignificantincreaseinratesin1920,1955,1969 and a decrease (!) in 1978, corresponding respectively to the increase in radiofrequencysmogduetotheintroductionofAMradio,FMradioandTV1,thearrivalofcolorTV2,andthenthecessationofAMradiobroadcasts.Thesesameresearchershavelikewisefound a very clear linear correlation between the number of FM radio transmitters perregionandthe incidenceofmelanomas,with theexposed locationshaving11timesmoremelanomasthanthe“whitezones”.Theyalsofoundthatmelanomasrarelyappearonthoseareasofthebodymostexposedtothesun,suchastheforehead,nose,shouldersandfeet,butmoreoften in thoseareasof thebodyusuallyprotected fromthesun.Moreover, theproliferation of skin cancers occurred before the coming into fashion of seaside holidays,duringwhich sun exposure is intense. This shows thatmelanomas are not predominantlycausedbythesun,butbyradiofrequencies. The statistical graphs of death rates from cancer, as well as from diabetes andcardiovasculardiseases,brokendownbythedegreeofelectrificationofAmericanstatesin1931and1940,are likewiseveryexplicit, leavingnodoubtwhatever thatelectromagneticfieldsplayaroleintheincreaseincancers. Genuine data on brain tumors is hard to find, as the cell phone lobby has beeninfiltratingthisfieldfordecadesinordertocommissionbiasedstudies.Oneoftheirstudiesevenshowsadecreaseintheincidenceoftumors,correlatingwiththeintensiveuseofcellphones! However, the University of Calgary has found evidence of a 30% increase in theincidenceofmalignantbraintumorsintheperiodfrom2012to2013,andLennartHardell,Professor of Oncology at the University Hospital of Örebro in Sweden, has demonstratedthat2,000hoursofcellphoneuse increases the riskofdevelopinga tumorbya factorofbetweenthreeandeight,dependingontheageofthesubjectandtheirphonehabits. In 2000, Neil Cherry analyzed the cancer rates of children in San Francisco inrelationtothedistancebetweentheirhomeandthetelevisionandFMradiotransmittersonSutroTower.Childrenlivingonhillsorridgesweremoreaffected.Thosewholivedwithin1kmoftheantennahada9timeshigherincidenceofleukemia,a15timeshigherincidenceoflymphomaanda 31 timeshigher incidenceof brain cancer—overall, an18 timeshigherratethanthoselivingoutsidethat1kmradius.

SuspendedAnimation A Practical Treatise on Nervous Exhaustion (1880) by George Miller Beard, theelectrotherapistandfriendofThomasEdison,containsan intriguingobservation:Althoughthesedifficultiesarenotdirectlyfatal,andsodonotappearinthemortalitytables;although,onthecontrary,theymaytendtoprolonglifeandtoprotectthesystemagainstfebrileandinflammatory disease, yet the degree of suffering they cause is enormous. Those whosuffered themost seemed ratheryoung for theirage. Furthermore,Beardnoted thatonerare disease seemedmore likely to afflict the neurasthenic subjects than the rest of thepopulation:thatdiseasewasdiabetes.Beardhadalreadyobservedthattheincreaseinlifeexpectancydidnot gohand inhandwith lifequality. Themysterious correlationbetweenthe sufferings of neurasthenic people – whose symptoms were the same as those ofcontemporaryelectro-hypersensitivepeople–andtheprolongationoftheirlivespointedtoamajordysfunction. Inaddition,ithaslongbeenobservedthatanasceticlifestylewithalow-caloriedietcanincreaselifeexpectancyandhealth.Thisisthecase,forexample,withthepopulationofOkinawa, where the number of centenarians is forty times greater than those in thepopulationofricherprefecturesfurthertothenorth. Researchers in the fieldofageinghavepointedout that the force thatdrivesandsustainsour lives is thesystemofelectron transport in themitochondriaofourcells. It isherethattheairwebreatheandthefoodweeatarecombined,ataratethatdeterminesour rate of ageing and hence our life expectancy.Whereas the achievement of a slowingdownofthecombustionprocesswithinourcellsthroughmoderatingtheamountofenergydeliveredmay be beneficial, anotherway of slowing downmay conversely be disastrous.Thisisthepoisoningoftheelectrontransportchain.Onepossiblewayofbeingpoisonedischronicexposure toartificialelectromagnetic fields.Thisever-increasingpollutionsubjectstheelectronsofourmitochondriatoexternalforces,slowingthemdown,deprivingourcellsofoxygenandcausingEHSsymptoms.15. Youmeanyoucanhearelectricity? In1962,awomancontacted theUniversityof SantaBarbara (CA,USA)asking forhelp in finding the source of the mysterious sound that she was hearing everywhere athome, even though she lived in a quiet residential district. This sound was keeping herawakeandwasdetrimentaltoherhealth.Measurementsdidindeedshowthatparticularlystrongelectromagneticfieldswereemanatingfromallelectricalconductors,notonlyfromthegridbutalsofromtheradiatorsandothermetallicelements,yetthestethoscopeitselfdetectednosoundatall.

Theengineercarriedoutanexperiment,recordingthemeasuredfieldsontapeand

playingthemtothewomanaffectedbythesenoises.Sheconfirmedthatthatwaswhatshewashearing.So,thiswomanwasabletoheartheelectromagneticfieldsinherenvironment.Grounding facilities and electronic filters were installed to reduce disturbances to anacceptablelevel. However, long before that, Volta and other researchers had already conductedexperimentsinwhichtheyhadsuccessfullyproducedvarioussoundsbyapplyingvoltageto

the ears.Much later, in the late 1960s, the biologist Allan Frey published articles on theabilityofsomesubjectstohearemissionsfromaradarinstallation. Themechanicalmodelof the functioningof theearas taught inschoolsdoesnotprovideanyexplanationfortheseobservedphenomena.Notingthis,thebiochemistLionelNaftalindevelopedanewmodelof the functioningof thehumanear, taking intoaccountthewell-knownphenomenonofpiezo-electricity (a forceutilizedbyelectronicians),whichhe discovered in the gel covering the cilia of the inner ear. In this gel, which is foundnowhereelse in thehumanbodyandhasspecialelectricalproperties,avoltageof100 to120 millivolts was present – which is considered high in the field of bioelectronics. Thispiezo-electricgeltransformssoundwaves intoanelectricalsignalthat iscommunicatedtotheciliaoftheinnerear.Thisnew,revisedmodelofthefunctioningofthehumanearnotonlyexplainstheabilityofcertainsubjectstohearanelectromagneticsignalundercertainconditions,butalsowhysomodern-daypeoplesufferfromtinnitus,andwhycertaingroupsofpeople,amountingto2to11%oftheworld'spopulation,arehearingaglobalhummingallaroundtheplanet. Today, about 44% of American adults suffer from tinnitus at various levels ofintensity,whileinSwedenthenumberofyoungpeopleaffectedwas12%in1997and42%in2006.Theseparasiticsoundsarelargelytheresultoflivinginanenvironmentthatisheavilypollutedwithallkindsofartificialelectromagneticfields.16. Bees,Birds,Trees,andHumans AlfonsoBalmoriMarinez,aSpanishbiologist,hascorrelatedthepopulationdensityof sparrows with the radio-frequency radiation values in their habitats. Sparrows cannotsurviveinthemostirradiatedplaces,wherelevelsexceed3V/m,whereastherearestill42birdsperhectareatlevelsof0.1V/m.Hehasalsoobservedamarkedchangeinthebehaviorofstorks,wherebystorkpairswillfightinsteadofbuildingthenestorincubatingtheeggsiftheyarewithin200mofacelltower. TheUnitedKingdomclassedthehousesparrowasanendangeredspeciesafteritspopulation declined by 75% between 1994 and 2002 – a period that coincided with thedeploymentofcellphonetechnology. Homingpigeonbreedersonseveralcontinentshavefoundthat,whenreleased,upto 90% of pigeons fail to find their way back to the dovecote, whereas this percentageshouldnormallybetiny.In2000,Englishbreederstriedtoreroutearacesoastoavoidcelltowers,inordertogivethepigeonsabetterchanceofhomingsuccessfully.In2004,thosesame breeders commissioned more extensive studies on the impact of microwaves onpigeons. In 2002, the US National Park Service issued a note to biologists studying wildanimal behavior, explaining that RFID chips attached to those animals to track themwithradiofrequenciescanradicallyaltertheirbehaviorduetotheradiofrequenciesgenerated. In environments polluted by electromagnetic fields, robins cannot find theirbearingsformigration–whereaswhentheyareinaFaradaycage,theyareabletodoso.

Anexperimentonfrogtadpolesreared intwoseparatepoolswithin140mofacelltower,onewithoutandtheotherwithelectromagneticshielding,displayedmortalityratesof90%and4%respectively. Thesametypeofharmfuleffectsarefoundininsectswhentheyareexposedtotheelectronic smog that we encounter on a daily basis, and Dr. Panagopoulous, who hasexperimentedonfruitflies,reportsthatexposuretomicrowavesatcommonlevels–evenforjustafewminutesadayforafewdays–istheworstknownstressorinourdailylives,evenworsethanchemicalsorlow-frequencyelectromagneticfields. Bees are also being negatively impacted, as we saw on the Isle ofWight at thebeginning of this summary. Dr. Daniel Favre (Switzerland) has demonstrated that in thepresence of microwaves, bees emit the sound typically heard when they swarm, whichsuggeststhatthe insectswanttoescapetheemissionsource.Thevarroamite isgenerallyblamedforcolonycollapsesyndrome;however,weforgetthatthismitehascohabitedwithbeesforalongtime.Inaddition,itcanoftenbeobservedthatnowadaysevenadeadcolonyisnotinfestedwithparasites,eventhoughthisusedtobethecase“before”.Thefingerofblame isalso levelledatpesticides–yet,aswehaveseen,90%of thebeeson the IsleofWightdisappearedwithoutanypesticideshavingbeenusedinthatarea.Thetruecauseofcolony collapse is found in human-generated electromagnetic fields, especially cell phonetechnology. In the1980s, a burning issueemerged: thedeathof forests. Thiswasblamedonacidrain–yetthemostremoteareaswiththecleanestairwereequallyaffected.ResearchwascarriedoutinGermanyandSwitzerland,andalthoughthesoilintheaffectedforestsdidindeedprovetobeacidic,observationandexperimentationshowedthatsuchaciditycouldalsobe the resultof theslowelectrolysisof thesoilvia treesexposed to radarwaves, forexample. Moreover, trees on ridges were more severely affected as they were moreexposedtothenewradarsinstalledinthe1970s. Another observation was made at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. ThegiganticRussian radarsatSkruda,whichwereheavily irradiating thewhole region in theirtaskofmonitoringtheWest,hadnotonlycausedharmtotheforest,butalsotoanimalsandhuman beings. After numerous studies, it was found that the growth rings of the treesduringtheyearswhentheradarswereoperatingweremuchsmallerthanthosefromeitherbeforeorafterthatperiod. InSchwarzenburginSwitzerland,ashortwaveradioantennawasinstalledin1939,and the transmission power was subsequently increased to 450 kW in 1954. This wasfollowedbyadeterioration in thehealthof the local inhabitants,whocomplainedofEHSsymptoms.Thevillagechildrenhaddifficultiesatschoolandseemedunabletoadvancetohighereducation,unlikethechildrenoflessexposedneighboringvillages.Finally,in1992,astudywas carriedoutwhich confirmed that,within a radius of 900mof the antenna, thephysiological analysis parametersof thepeople andanimals at the sitewere abnormal. Itwasalsofoundthatthetreegrowthringswerecompressed–butonlyonthesidefacingtheradiation source.OnMarch28th 1998, the transmitterwas shutdownanda “before-and-after”studywascarriedout;thisdemonstratedthatthemelatoninlevelsofthe58subjectstestedhad increased again.A 50-year-old villagerwas finally able to sleep for a full nightwithoutinterruptionforthefirsttimeinhislife.OnMay29th1996,PhilippeRoch,Directorof

theOffice for the Environment, stated that therewas “a proven correlation between thesleepdisordersandcommunicationsoperations".17. IntheCountryoftheBlind

Howmuch longerdowehave towaitbeforebeingable to say "Your cellphone iskilling me!” rather than "I'm electro-hypersensitive”? And yet the number of peoplesufferingfromheadachesduetousingcellphonesishuge.In2010,two-thirdsofUkrainianuniversitystudentsinterviewedadmittedthefactthatitisnotsociallyacceptabletoopenlydiscussthisissue.GroHarlemBrundtlandwasEHSwhenshewasheadoftheWorldHealthOrganization.Shewasquiteopenaboutthefact,butwasforcedtoresignfromherpostoneyearlater.Thisdeterredotherhigh-rankingpublicfiguresfromfollowingherexample. Onlyaminorityofpeoplesufferingfromelectromagneticpollutionknowwhattheyare suffering from,while the greatmajority have no idea. The entire population is beingelectrocutedbyremotecontrolandonealmosthastoapologizeforbeingelectro-sensitiveor,tobeprecise,electro-hypersensitive, justas ifonehadtoapologizeforbeing"cyanide-hypersensitive". For the truth is that electricity, as it is currently being used, is toxic.Moreover,statisticalgraphsclearlyshowanincreaseinthemortalityrateoftheinhabitantsof nine American cities shortly after the first base stations were put into operation. Thisincreasedmortalityrangesfrom25toover80%. A survey conducted by a daily newspaper, which asked New Yorkers to reportwhether theyhadbegun suffering fromanumberofEHS symptomsafterNovember15th,1996,gatheredhundredsoftestimoniesfromawiderangeofracialandsocialclasses.Thedateinquestionwasthedaywhenthefirstcellphonenetworkwentintooperation. The Cellular Phone Task Force, an organization started by Arthur Firstenberg in1996, is inundated with requests for help from people harmed by microwave radiofrequencies. Somanyemitters of all kinds proliferate – fromWiFi,WiMAX, radar stationsand irradiation emitted from the sky by telecommunications satellites, that it seems as ifsoontherewillbenowheretoescapeto. Prof. Olle Johansson of the prestigious Karolinska Institute, who is famous forawarding the Nobel Prize for Medicine, has focused on demonstrating the effects ofelectronicsmogon livingorganismssince1977.Thesuccessofhisstudies led tohisbeingmarginalizedathis institute, the funding forhis researchdisappearingandtohis receivingdeath threats; on one occasion, he narrowly escaped an attempt on his life through thesabotage of his motorcycle. Despite everything, he continues to inform the world of thetruthinordertodefend,amongothers,thosesufferingfromEHS,whoseliveshavebecomehellonearth.Heisdisgustedbythewayinwhichthegovernmentsofso-called“democratic”countrieshavesimplyabandonedthevictimsofradiofrequenciestotheirfate. DrEricaMallery-Blythe,whohasdualBritishandAmericannationality,completedherstudiesin1998.In2007,afterfollowingherF-16pilothusbandtotheUSA,shebecameseverelyaffectedbyEHSwithoutrealizingit.Herinternetresearchesfinallyenabledhertounderstand what was happening to her. As a doctor, she was puzzled as to how such aprofound and disabling condition could exist without her ever having heard of it in herprofession.Tosethermindat rest, shedecidedtoundergoanMRI toruleout theriskofbraincancer.Shebelievedthatherdeathwasimminentwhenthehighfrequencypulsations

were engaged, but recovered full health and vitality in Death Valley, far from radiofrequencies.Sincethen,shehasdedicatedherselftoinformingandhelpingthe5%(atleast)ofthepopulationwhoareEHSandhavebeentotallyabandonedbytheauthorities.

Yury Grigoriev, who is generally regarded as the grandfather of electromagneticresearch in Russia, is extremely concerned about young people above all, and has statedthat this is the first time in thehistoryof humanity thatpeople’s brains arebeingopenlyexposed to microwaves – which is extremely serious in the eyes of a radiobiologist. Inparticular,hecitesaKoreanstudywhichshowsthatattentiondeficithyperactivitydisorder(ADHD)inchildrenisconnectedtotheuseofcellphones. Inthelate1990s,theSwedishneurosurgeonLeifSalfordandhisteamprovedthatcell phonesmake theblood-brainbarrierpermeable, causingAlzheimer'sdisease. In2003they showed that a single exposure of only two hours causes permanent damage to thebrain. In2015,Turkishscientistsirradiatedratsforanhouradayforamonth,usingtypicalcellphonewaves.The irradiated ratshad10% fewerbraincells than those thathadbeenspared that treatment. The same team experimented on pregnant rats for 9 days at thesameradiationlevel.Therats’progenyshoweddegenerationofthebrain,spinalcord,heart,kidneys, liver, spleen, thymusand testicles. The sameexperiment repeatedon young ratscausedatrophyofthespinalcordtogetherwithdecreasedmyelin,likethatseeninmultiplesclerosis. InSeptember1998,thefirst66satellitesforspacetelephonywentintooperation,causinganincreaseintheUSA’snationalmortalityrateofnearly5%inthetwosubsequentweeks.During the sameperiod, itwasobserved thatbirdswereno longer flyingand thatEHS people became particularly ill. Today, about 1,100 artificial satellites fly over us, butseveral companies – Google, Facebook, SpaceX, OneWeb and Samsung – are planning tolaunch up to 4,600 new communications satellites each by 2020, in order to blanket theentireplanetwithhigh-speedInternetaccess. In1968,eventhefirstsmallfleetof28militarysatellitesprecipitatedaworldwideflupandemic.Unlikeaground-basedantenna,whoseradiationishighlyattenuatedwhenitreaches themagnetosphere, satellites act directly on it throughmechanisms that are stillpoorlyunderstood,thuscompromisinglifeonearth.WeforgetthewarningsofRossAdey,thegrandfatherofbioelectromagnetics,andof theatmosphericphysicistNeilCherry, thatweareelectricallyregulatedbytheworldsurroundingusandthatthesafelevelofexposureto radiofrequencies is therefore zero. This potentially catastrophic initiative must beopposed and the organization leading the way is the Global Union Against RadiationDeploymentfromSpace(GUARDS;www.stopglobalwifi.org/).

In 2014, the physician Tetsuharu Shinjyo published a "before-and-after" study. Heevaluated thehealthof122 inhabitantsof abuildingonwhichbase stationantennashadbeen installed. Twenty-one suffered from chronic fatigue, 14 from dizziness orMénière’sdisease,14fromheadaches,17fromeyepainorinfections,14frominsomniaand10fromchronic nosebleeds. Five months after the antennas were removed, only 2 cases ofinsomnia,1caseofvertigoand1caseofheadachesremained!
