The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) was established in 1983 by the joint collaboration of government of Malaysia and a number of muslim countries. IIUM has ever since been distinct in its efforts to provide academic excellence nourished with moral values and virtues. Holding true to its vision statement, the university strives to serve the best to produce comprehensive graduates, imbued with high potentials and optimistic nature, yet nurtured with moderation. The Kulliyyah of Engineering was established in 1994, and it currently offers Bachelors, Masters and PhD programmes in Aerospace, Automotive, Biotechnology, Communication, Computer and Information, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, and Materials engineering.

The challenges of feeding the phenomenally growing world population, finite resources, mitigating climate changes, and increasing health care issues demand concerted efforts from stake-holders such as, researchers, academics, technopreneurs, policymakers, decision makers, and captains of industry. Through collaboration and networking, there is need to find long-term solutions using development and application of innovative biotechnology principles for sustainable global peace, prosperity, and improved quality of life. To facilitate keeping pace with the rapidly growing global demand and biotechnological advancements, the Kulliyyah of Engineering at the International Islamic University Malaysia is organizing the 3rd International Conference on Biotechnology Engineering (ICBioE 2013) in Kuala Lumpur. The forum will also provide a platform for the entrepreneurs to seek partnership with scientists, engineers and technocrats etc. to commercialize their invention and products to meet the demands of the global society.

An extended abstract should be submitted online at the conference website by 15 Feb 2013. The selected high quality papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in ISI/SCOPUS indexed journals.
