Corporate Philanthropy Policy and Charitable Contributions

Effective today, Xerox is implementing a new Corporate Philanthropy Policy which requires all charitable contributions to be reviewed by The Office of Corporate Philanthropy before a contribution is made. As a result, Xerox will receive full recognition as well as full tax benefits for all charitable contributions.

Please direct all requests to The Office of Corporate Philanthropy. The Corporate Philanthropy Policy can be found on The Hub.

We realize that our lines of business invest in community organizations. This Policy is not to police those efforts but rather to protect Xerox and to promote our strong commitment to community with stakeholders. Simply put, we want to know about the good work you do and keep us in compliance with all applicable rules. Here are some of the highlights of the Corporate Philanthropy Policy:

EligibilityAll community investments must qualify as such under local tax law and only organizations that have been granted exemption from Federal Income Tax under Section 501 (c)(3) or ruled to be publicly supported under Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code are eligible.

Xerox declines requests for support from: individuals, capital grants, endowments or endowed chairs, political organizations, religious or sectarian groups and municipal, county, state, federal or quasi-government agencies. Further, Xerox declines support to organizations that practice discrimination and/or do not encourage and promote equal opportunity. As a general rule, Xerox has not supported golf tournaments, walks/runs, galas or sponsorships.

Focus AreasTo yield the greatest return on our investment, we channel support to a few, select categories aligned with our business and strategic interests. Please consider this when you invest.

Employee volunteerism: The Xerox Community Involvement Program (XCIP), our company’s biggest and longest-running program, marries the voluntary spirit of our people with funding from the Xerox Foundation to make our hometowns and neighborhoods a better place. Education and workforce preparedness: Our second largest focus area for philanthropic investments is education—colleges and university programs that prepare the next generation for the workforce of the future.Science and technology: Xerox also invests in scientific research to serve the long-term strategic interests of the company.Strong vibrant communities: Xerox philanthropy spans arts and culture, civic and public affairs, the environment and global sustainability to support and strengthen communities around the world.

Community Investment FormThe Community Investment Form will accompany all requests made of The Office of Corporate Philanthropy. It will capture additional data about community investments and activity that, in turn, will help Xerox to better identify, measure and report our Corporate Philanthropy efforts. This work feeds rankings like Fortune Most Admired and The Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Both are highly-regarded by many of our stakeholders—stakeholders critical to our business. It too will reside on The Hub and a copy is attached for your files.

This Corporate Philanthropy Policy is the first step in our efforts to support your unwavering commitment to communities around the globe. Thank you for your compliance. Please cascade this memo to your staff and feel free to review any questions with me or Mark Conlin, President, The Xerox Foundation. We look forward to your feedback.
