Cleaning Your Apartment
Please be respectful of the shared space in your apartment. Timely and consistent cleaning is a must for harmony in your apartment. Make a cleaning schedule with your apartment mates and stick to it. We will conduct 1-2 Health and Safety Checks monthly, so please be prepared for them with a clean apartment. Policy violations will be reported and addressed with the residents in the apartment.
We have left a broom, mop and bucket of cleaning supplies to help you with cleaning your apartment. It is your responsibility to purchase paper products, cleaning products and trash bags in order to keep your apartment clean.
Help us keep our building pest-free. Please do not let trash build up in your apartment or overflow from the trash containers we have provided. Trash and recycling receptacles are located in the parking lot of RVA and there is a recycling room and trash chute at the Lobo Rainforest. Do not leave dirty dishes overnight. If you do notice pests, contact the SRC front desk. A work order will be created.

Laundry machines are free! No pesky rolls of quarters! See our amenities page for more information.
Free Wi-Fi is available on campus and at the Lobo Rainforest. Please see our Connectivity flier for information on how to connect to the internet.
Parking is available in the R lots located in the housing area of campus. R Lots are indicated in yellow on the map in this folder. Permits are required and can be purchased at UNM Parking and Transportation Services. Permits must be displayed hanging from your rearview mirror or in the lower left corner of your dashboard. (See the Parking section in this folder) At the Lobo Rainforest (LRF), you should park on the north side of the parking lot.
Dining and Shopping
There are numerous restaurants on and around campus including and around the Lobo Rainforest. Our Dining Hall, La Posada, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Meal plans are available for summer interns. If you would like to purchase a meal plan, please email Rebecca Colón at [email protected] and she will arrange for your meal plan.

Alcohol and Tobacco
UNM is a dry campus. No alcohol is allowed anywhere on campus. We are also a non-smoking campus. Smoking is permitted in designated areas only (indicated on the housing map provided in this book). If you are of legal drinking age and are living at the Lobo Rainforest, you may drink alcohol in single serving containers in your apartment only. See our Expectations and Conduct page. For all rules pertaining to alcohol consumption.
Our Security Staff
Our on-campus Student Safety and Security Staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are
based at the Student Residence Center front desk and can be reached by calling 505-277-9203, or visiting
the SRC desk. The LRF has one Student Safety and Security Staff member posted at the front desk and/
or doing rounds from 7:00pm to 3:00am.
Security Escorts within the housing areas on campus are available and are recommended when you will
be walking alone late at night. Call the SRC front desk to arrange for a security escort.
Blue Emergency Poles
The University has a system of security phone boxes located on what we call “blue poles” which are
positioned throughout campus. The blue poles can be used to contact the UNM Police Department. If
you will have a typical route while here with us, take time to commit to memory the location of those
blue poles.
Who should I call?
If you have a medical emergency or an issue that would require the police, call the university police
department at 505-277-2241 or 911. If you have a facilities emergency or a nuisance complaint, call the
main front desk at 505-277-9203.

UNM Wi-Fi UNM provides campus-wide Wi-Fi which can be accessed using Lobo-Guest. If you are already a student or
affiliate of UNM, you may already have been issued a UNM Net ID and password or might soon be issued one
through the UNM department with which you are affiliated.
If you have a UNM Net ID and password, you can also use Lobo-Wifi and the high-speed ports located in
your bedroom of your apartment. If you have trouble gaining a connection, you can call our UNM IT
customer service line at 505-277-5757 during regular business hours and they will assist you.

Would you like to receive mail during your stay with us?
You can visit the mail room in the Student Residence Center Commons or the main front desk at the
Lobo Rainforest to check out a mail box in your name. Bring a valid ID card. You will be issued a key
to your box and will be asked to give a forwarding address that will be utilized to forward all mail
received in your name through September 1st. Your box number will need to be written in where the
x’s appear in the address below. The mailroom will have extended hours 1-2 days a week to
accommodate for interns with evening schedules. Before you check out of your room, you will need to
return your key during SRC mail room/LRF front desk hours. Mail room hours will be posted at
the mail room door.

Visitor and Hourly Parking at the University of New Mexico UNM offers an array of parking services for visitors who are on campus for limited periods of time.
Offering an extensive selection of hourly to daily ($8) weekly,($24) and monthly permits($61), we
have a solution that will meet your needs. With over 40,000 students, staff, and faculty coming to
campus a regular basis and only about 14,000 parking spaces, parking is in high demand. Interns can
purchase permits in advance of their stay during the application process. Permits are also available
from Parking and Transportation Services. Mention that you are a Summer Intern living at UNM
Residence Life and Student Housing. Interns that purchase a permit will find that the R Lot designation
has been scratched. Interns with permits may park in any “R” lot. The “R” lots are restricted and are
subject to weekend enforcement. See the Housing maps to find “R” lots within the housing areas.

Free 24-hour Laundry Facilities The Redondo Village Apartments have laundry facilities available to you. Operation of the machines
is free to all of our guests and residents. The laundry room in RVA is on the 1st floor near the
elevators. We recommend that you use only soap formulated for high efficiency machines that shows
the high-efficiency logo. Washers and dryers are provided in each LRF apartment.
Gym Membership All guests are eligible to purchase a gym membership for Johnson Gym, located just across Johnson
Field from RVA. Johnson Gym offers two memberships; a month for $25.00 or a full summer, May
1st to July 31st, for $40.00. If you are interested in purchasing a gym membership, email
[email protected]. Please review the summer hours of operation before purchasing a gym
membership. The LRF has a small exercise room on the 2nd floor, but interns living at the LRF are
also eligible for a Johnson Gym membership .
Meal Plans Our guests can purchase any summer meal plan offered by the Lobocard office during the summer
months. Meal plans provide a reduced rate from the regular door prices at La Posada (open for
breakfast, lunch and dinner) and can be used at any central campus eatery. Lobocash is accepted at all
campus eateries and at the LRF Press Room. If you would like to purchase a meal plan, please email
On-Campus Outdoor Amenities Take a chance to familiarize yourself with your surroundings. When you do, you will find a half-mile track, basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts and BBQ grills. Feel free to use them!

Rules for Living Together By signing a UNM housing contract, you agree to follow all national, state and local laws, all university regulations, which are
outlined in the UNM Pathfinder, as well as all residence hall policies, which can be found in the Residence Life and Student
Housing Residence Hall Handbook, available online at housing.unm.edu. While all the guidelines for living on campus are
outlined in the Residence Hall Handbook, some of our basic expectations are listed below.
Noise Hall quiet hours are from 10:00PM to 9:00AM Sunday through Thursday and from midnight to 10:00AM on Friday and Saturday.
Courtesy is expected at all times. No amplified noise should be heard in the hallways, outside the apartments, or from other
resident's rooms.
Cleanliness Help us keep our buildings clean and pest-free. Residents are expected to maintain their living areas at a level of sanitation
acceptable for a group living environment. Health and Safety Inspections will be conducted once a month. Inspections can result
in guidance to correct policy violations and even forfeiture of contract. If an apartmentmate has made living uncomfortable for
you , first address it with them. If the situation does not improve, contact a Conference Guest Assistant.
Guests & Visitation Residents are responsible for their guests' behavior. Overnight guests of the same gender are allowed for up to three days and
must sleep in the resident’s room. Men and women may visit each other, but your guest must always be accompanied by you. Do
not leave your apartment without taking your guest with you. Guests visiting for more than 3 nights will be considered a policy
violation.
Keys and Fob Access LRF residents locked out of their rooms can check out a temporary (10 minute) set from the LRF desk or call 277-9203 after
hours for security staff to let them into their rooms. RVA residents can call 505269-8215 to be let into their room by the CGA–
On-Duty. If keys are permanently lost, residents should report the loss immediately to the CGA-on-Duty. The resident will have
until end of next business day to locate the misplaced keys before a lock change is ordered. If your keys have been stolen, an
emergency lock change can be immediately performed. Lock change charges are applicable and due at time of new key receipt.
Alcohol and Tobacco The UNM campus is a smoke and tobacco-free campus. There is no smoking in or near any building on campus. There are two
smoking areas located within the housing area, which are indicated on the Housing-Area Map in this directory. UNM is a dry cam-
pus. Even if you are of age, drinking or the possession of alcohol of any kind is prohibited on campus. Interns observed with alco-
hol will have the incident reported to their internship administrative contact and will be asked to meet with the Conferences Man-
ager to discuss their conduct. Extreme or repetitive cases will result in eviction and forfeiture of contract. LRF residents of legal
drinking age may consume alcohol in single-serving containers within their apartment.

Arrival Instructions: Redondo Village Apartments
Your date of arrival is fast approaching. Here are some simple guidelines that will help you navigate your arrival in
Albuquerque and your check in at UNM Housing.
UNM Central Campus, is located about 10 minutes from the airport on Central Avenue between Girard Blvd.
and University Blvd. If you will be living at Redondo Village, you will check in at the Student Residence Center
(SRC) main customer service front desk, open 24/7. To find it on the map (included), look for the gray puzzle-
piece-looking building marked #89 in section O-15.
From the airport, you can take a cab or Uber pretty inexpensively, or catch a shuttle if it is running. The shuttle
drops pretty far from our desk, so be prepared.
If you take a cab, tell them to bring you either to the roundabout on Redondo Road (east of the SRC) or to the
A Lot by the tennis courts, which is south of and just behind the SRC.
Once you have arrived at the SRC Front Desk, tell them that you are an intern or a short-term housing guest
and they will call someone to check you in. You will need a valid Driver’s License or picture ID to check in.
Are you driving to Albuquerque? On Saturday and Sunday, parking is not regulated in the “A” lot just behind
building #89 (in section O-15 on the campus map) on the campus map. If you have pre-purchased your parking
permits, they will be in your check-in packets for you to use. Parking regulation begins on Monday at 8:00 am.
On weekdays, parking is regulated on all campus lots. You will need to find a metered space and pay with a
credit card for 30 minutes to an hour. This will be enough time for you to find us, get checked in, and to be
shown to your apartment. Metered parking is available in the D lot just south of building #153 (section P-14
on the campus map) or on Redondo Road between Redondo Court and Campus Blvd. (section P-15 on the
campus map)
If you have chosen to wait to purchase your parking permits, the Parking and Transportation Office is open
M-F 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. You can purchase your permits during those hours.
Once you have completed the paperwork at the desk, you will be given a small packet of information and the
keys to your room/apartment. A community resource Directory will have been sent to you via email. You should
read this and also familiarize yourself with all of our Expectations of Conduct on the Residence Life web page.

Arrival Instructions: Lobo Rainforest
Your date of arrival is fast approaching. Here are some simple guidelines that will help you navigate your

Lobo Rainforest is located about 10 minutes from the airport on Broadway Blvd., just north of
Central Avenue. The physical address is 101 Broadway Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. It is
located 2 blocks northwest from the downtown train and bus stations.
From the airport, you can take a cab or an Uber pretty inexpensively.
The front desk is open M-F 8:00am to 8:00pm and on weekends and holidays from 10:00am to
8:00pm. Check-ins are only available during those times.
The housing front desk is located on the northwest corner of the building. Once you have arrived
at the front desk, tell them that you are an intern or a short-term housing guest and they will issue
you your check-in packet. If you have purchased parking, the permit(s) will be in your check-in
packet. You will need a valid Driver’s License, passport, or picture ID to check in.
A Guest Resource Directory will have been sent to you via email. You should read this and also
familiarize yourself with our Expectations of Conduct on the Residence Life web page.
