This senior level studio covers the physical and psychological factors that impact hospitalityenvironments. Students are expected to graphically demonstrate original and viable solutions. Research on human factors, codes, and lighting are combined with product mix and multi-sensory aspects of design to influence perceived value to the customer.

The history of Spain and the culture thatkeeps the old, while introducing the innovativeDesign, provides a fresh Mediterranean style that is classic and visually interesting. The old architectural details and pops of color is what inspired the overall design concept forFRESCO.

SCHEMATICS

Acoustic consideration was implemented by placingthe kitchen to the back of the restaurant away fromthe dinning spaces.

CODE REQUIREMENTS MET:*ADA applied in the furniture clearance and accessaisles.* Easily cleanable floors, walls, and ceilings* Back of house must be sanitary. Finishes selected areeasily cleanable and durable.*Flooring is impervious and slip resistant.

This senior level studio is a study of the materials and fabrication techniques used in the design and construction of interiors and how these details are communicated three-dimensionally and inconstruction documents. Contentsinclude interior construction, detailing of ceilings, walls, flooring, and millwork. Project of solutions will consider theintegration of building technology such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other relevant systems

The thermal design impact on interior comes from the cross ventilation and propercalculations for well functioned HVAC system promotes positive air quality.

This studio course explores various types of residential dwellings as they relate to different inhabitants. Project work applies the programming and design development phases of the residential design process to include information gathering, needs analysis, concept and spatial development, and ff&e selections based on research and sustainability.

Salvaged wood is used forfl ooring throughout thehome to repurpose and givea natural back drop with theuse of any color pattern andtexture combinations. Forpresent and future designs.

Acoustical privacy between social, privateand utility zones. Closets are located betweenBedrooms. Th e closets can serve as elevatorslater on if the need is there. Th e home lendsItself to change in the future. Th e space plan isEconomically designed in the use of thermaldesign product and fi nish selections and energySaving appliances. Light sources which are moreeffi cient with less power needed and longer life.

An open fl oor plan is implemented to increaseapparent spaciousness. Th is fl oor plan allows theye and body to travel beyond the immediate space. Th rough uncluttered openings into adja-cent spaces.Th e spaces are unifi ed with the use of fl oor toCeiling window treatments. Placing furniture perpendicular to walls to act as room dividers. Furniture is grouped in defi ned areas of activity.

This senior elective studio covers the total process of residential design from concept development through two- and three- dimensional presentations. Building codes, covenants, and restrictions create the guidelines for solutions; while knowledge of sustainable practices, residential business practice, construction methods, materials and custom interior architectural details are applied.

PROMOTES POSITIVE AIR QUALITY. With the use ofreproposed materials and fi xtures. Th e herbal wallgarden help with the quality of the air in the unit andprovides an organic source for cooking herbs. Th e woodfl oors are heated to help with the cold winters. Th e largesteel ceiling fans are used to help circulate the air withinthe loft . Custom designed cabinets became part of thearchitectural construction of the project and makes formore effi cient use of space.

ADAPTED REUSE was used to design thisresidential space. Located in the fourseason, city of Chicago. Th is industrialbuilding is being reproposed into eight fl oorsof urban loft s. My client was a professionalchef, male, single living in the city. I designeda simple fl oor plan the use of the originalmasonry for expose brick walls to add textureand help as an acoustical barrier from thenoise from the busy street outside.

This course challenges students to use planning requirements to create universal and accessible designs. Construction, electrical, and basic plumbing are taught with emphasis on these applications within residential kitchens and baths. Industry relevant nomenclature and product information are used to create technical documents and custom aesthetic solutions.
