A key that fits within the lock but does not turn.A hidden object contained in a cube that cannot open. The only clue of the contained object is the sound it makes when the box is in motion.

One can only wonder what is inside...

To contrast the roundness and softness of the ice cream, the rest of the shop is based off of rectilinear forms and the ceiling design becomes the only non-frosted glass within the space to signify that the customer is finally within reach of the goal (ice cream). The varying levels represent the building excitement.

Frosted glass is used in the store front to distinguish the front to the other surrounding buildings. The glass is translucent to pique the customers interest and make them want to peer through and see the colorful display of ice cream.

P2. View from dip cabinet to back

After studying precedents of retail spaces, the design began to form into the concept of anticipation. Ice cream is usually consumed as a treat to one’s self and the design began by the thought of how to prolong the want for such a treat. By making the customer wait, the need for a scoop of ice cream will become unbearable. Building the anticipation became the driving factor for the space’s design.

The store front contains the dip counter and once through the main entryway, the customer is blocked from their goal by a long wall of frosted glass which is broken at random times to allow the customer a glimpse of the ice cream and of customers enjoying their ice cream. Each glimpse teases the customer’s desire.

To reach your desired goal, you must first be tantalized.

Design concept became based off of the client’s personality and how she presents her work. Words that describe her include quirky, ironic, sense of humor, edgy, etc.

Rough and textured materials were used to contrast her products which are very detailed and intricate. Such materials attract attention to the hanging display as the ties are smooth and silky.

Translucent glass walls are used throughout the space to provide privacy aswell as offer visual connection to the rest of the space. The Head of eachdepartment is enclosed as acoustical privacy is necessary.

In comparison to the Heads, the restof the office workers are notseparated by a wall or partition inorder to increase amounts ofcollaboration.

The building's existing structure was preserved; brick walls, garagedoors, windows, and skylights. Industrial lighting fixtures were added tomaintain the same feel of the space.

The large war room in the center of the space acts as the"brain" or "core" of the space. Humorously, the table iscalled the Last Supper table paired with Wonky chairs.

Chairs arranged to spell "N00B" at the reception area.

Upper level serves as another space for collaboration.

Loopita adds a "wow" factor to the space by offering privacy to workers or another space to collaborate.
