I am grateful for the very warm welcome I have received at Glen Allen High School as the interim principal. I am happy to be a Jaguar for a few months, and I plan to work hard supporting the students and teachers as we continue an already fabulous school year at Glen Allen. Please feel free to email, call, or schedule a time to chat if you like—my door is always open. I appreciate everything you do as parents, and I am happy to be serving such awesome students and teachers through the end of the school year.

President’s Message

The second semester is a busy one for the PTSA. We have many fun opportunities planned for the Glen Allen

High School community. Please enjoy this newsletter as an excellent resource for current information.

Bookstore open on Conference Day: Spring parent teacher conference day is Monday, February 9 from 4:30-

7:00 pm. The PTSA will open the bookstore for our spirit wear needs. Glen Allen HS spirit wear makes the

perfect Valentine’s Day gift!

Spirit Night at Five Guys Burger and Fries: Please support the PTSA at Five Guys on Cox Road on Tuesday,

February 10. We hope to see you there.

Nominating Committee: The Glen Allen High School PTSA is currently accepting nominations for the elected

offices and committee chairs for the 2015-2016 school year. We are looking for volunteers willing to serve as

president, treasurer, volunteer coordinator, hospitality, after prom, cultural arts, bookstore and lay advisory. If

interested in any of these positions, please email infomation@gahsptsa.com.

Teens and Substances: A Dangerous Combination: The Glen Allen High School PTSA is pleased to present Dr.

Anthony Vitiello on Monday, March 2 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Dr. Vitiello will speak on Teens and

Substances: A Dangerous Combination. Please join us for this important program.

Glen Allen PTSA Scholarship: Each year, the PTSA awards a $1000 scholarship to a deserving graduating senior

who is a member of the PTSA. The deadline for application is March 31 to school counseling. Please see the

scholarship information in this newsletter.

After Prom Party: The Glen Allen High School PTSA is pleased to announce this year’s after prom party will be at

Dave and Busters on Saturday, April 25 from 11 pm to 2 am. The PTSA is collecting gift card donations for door

BoxTops Collection: The PTSA student representatives are collecting Box Tops for Longan ES PTA. High schools

cannot participate in the BoxTops program, but our students want to help one of our feeder schools with

BoxTop contributions. A collection box can be found in the main office.

Baccalaureate: Save the date. Join us to celebrate Baccalaureate on Sunday, June 7 at 2 pm at GAHS with the

senior class.

Thank you for your continued support of the Glen Allen High School PTSA. Your hospitality donations,

membership, contributions to the Jaguar Fund and purchases through the Jag Mart are all important ways to

continue the good work and partnership the PTSA has with Glen Allen High School. Stay tuned to the PTSA

Glen Allen High School PTSA Senior Scholarship Application

The Glen Allen High School PTSA Scholarship will be awarded to a student PTSA member who has dedicated time and efforts to their school and community while maintaining GPA of at least 2.5 and with plans to attend an accredited college, university, trade, or vocational school. This application must be submitted to the school counseling office no later than March 31, 2015. The school’s scholarship committee will determine the top 3 candidates based on the following criteria with a strong emphasis on community service, ambition, motivation, and conscientiousness. The PTSA board will determine if one or more candidates will receive the scholarship and the amount to be awarded.
